As they took the stage, the audience erupted in applause. Niall watched them from his seat, his expression a mix of pride and anticipation. The music started, and Kinsley and Poppy began to sing, their voices blending beautifully and conveying the emotion of the song. They had made choreography to go along with the song and the audience was eating it up. So were the coaches. They were all enjoying the song, some even up on their feet as they sang along. As the last note faded, the room was filled with cheers and whistles. Kinsley and Poppy hugged each other, both ecstatic with the reaction of the crowd. But now came the part where Niall had to choose. Though this time, there was the playoff pass. They could both go on and not go home. That's what they were hoping for. One could go to playoff pass and one off to the knockouts.

Carson soon came up on stage, congratulating the two for the great performance they gave and soon let the couches voice their opinions. It was clear everyone loved the song and the performance. They even commented how they loved the choreography they did and one coach had added that the thought Meghan Trainor would be proud and impressed by their rendition of her song. Which made Kinsley and Poppy's hearts swell with joy and pride. It was then time for the voting, and the room was filled with an air of excitement and suspense. It was clear Niall was already dreading this and having trouble making his choice. He had listened intently to what the other coaches say in hopes of helping him. And in the end, it didn't help. He had a hard time making his choice, and he didn't want to hurt either of them.

Niall took a deep breath and cleared his throat, trying to collect his thoughts. Though it was hard since both of the girls were amazing. He hated having to choose between them. He wanted to pick both. They deserved to move on. He could tell they were both nervous and scared, but they did a good job of hiding it. They both had their own unique strengths and personalities, and he could tell the audience was captivated by them. It didn't make his choice any easier. When it was time for Niall to make his decision, he looked genuinely torn.

"This is such a difficult choice because you both did so well." He groans, covering his face in his hands. "Why did I do this to myself?" He mumbles, earning a few laughs from the crowd and his fellow coaches. "Okay, I'm just gonna rip off the band-aid." He sighed, taking a deep breath after lowering his hands. It takes longer than he thought to answer which caused Blake to speak up.

"You alright there, buddy?"

"Obviously not!" Niall retorts, earning a few laughs from the crowd, the judges, and the other coaches. "Alright, okay, here it goes. I have to choose one of you to move on to the next round. The person I'm choosing is..."

There was a tense pause, the room holding its breath. "Poppy." Loud cheers fill the room as Carson announces Poppy is moving on to the Knockouts and congratulates the young girl. Kinsley ignores the way her heart drops at the revelation and turns to hug Poppy, smiling widely at her. "I'm so happy for you, Poppy." She tells her, and she means it. Poppy deserves this. She worked hard and proved herself. She was going to go far on the show. "I knew you would get chosen. I'm so proud of you."

Poppy grins and hugs her tightly, tears shining in her eyes. "Thank you, Kinsley. You're amazing, and you deserve this, too. I'm so grateful for you and our partnership." She gushes, sniffling. "I hope we'll get to keep working together. I'm not ready for this to end."

Kinsley pulls back and smiles softly at her, blinking back tears. "Me neither." She said quietly, squeezing her hand. She was so proud and happy for Poppy, and she knew she was going to win the competition. But it didn't stop the sting of disappointment. She had prepared herself for this though. Considering the fact she already had a fanbase and such, she had a feeling she wouldn't go far in the show. While she did have a music career, she was still struggling with it. She was still getting used to being a solo artist and not with a band and she had been hoping the show would help her get a boost and help her career grow. Though, she was fine if she was eliminated. She knew it would suck, but she would get over it. And besides, the experience and connections she had made were worth it. She wouldn't have gotten to meet Poppy if she never tried out for the show, and she was so grateful for her friendship. So even if she was eliminated, she wouldn't regret trying out. She would do it all over again if she had the chance.

-ˏˋ "Man, this was such a tough decision. And the first one of the night too." Niall sighs heavily, running a hand through his hair. He's now shown sitting in a chair in the empty room for his interview with the stage behind him and 'The Voice' sign behind him as well. "But, in the end, I had to pick someone. And that someone is Poppy. She was a little star on stage. And her voice is absolutely incredible. She has such a mature sound for her age, and she's incredibly talented. She's gonna go far on this show. The fact that she's so young yet still managed to perform at that level is insane. She's a force to be reckoned with, and I know she's going to blow everyone away. So I'm really glad to have her on my team." ˎˊ-

Niall meets the young girl half way once she started walking toward him, grinning widely and hugging her tightly. "I'm so happy for you, love." He says softly, smiling fondly down at her. "You deserve it. So proud of you, Pops."

"Thank you, Niall. That means a lot coming from you." She gushes, grinning at him. "You're the best coach I could've asked for."

Niall smiled brightly and pressed a kiss to the top of her head, giving her one last hug. He was so proud and excited for her. And he couldn't wait to see what else she had in store. He could tell she was going to do great things. Poppy then moves to walk back stage, hoping someone would steal Kinsley or that she would go to the playoffs.

"Coaches, I would like to remind you Kinsley is still available to steal." Carson speak up once the cheering had died down. He turns to Kinsley with a soft smile. "Is there anything you would like to say to your coach?"

Kinsley turns to Niall and gives him a warm smile. "I just want to say thank you, Niall. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to perform here and be a part of your team. It's been an absolute dream. I don't know how you do it but you always find ways to teach me new things and help me become a better performer. You're a phenomenal coach, and I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with you. Again." She adds, chuckling along with some others, Niall included. "And, most importantly, thank you for believing in me. You've given me a confidence boost, and you've inspired me in more ways than you know. And I'm so grateful for everything you've done for me."

Niall blinks away the tears that suddenly brimmed his eyes, his expression filled with warmth. He was so touched by Kinsley's words. But he had a plan. "You ain't going anywhere yet, Kiki." He revealed, standing up with a grin and pressing the button dramatically. Confetti is suddenly falling down over Carson and Kinsley as 'playoff pass' is shown on the sign while Carson announced Kinsley is moving on to the Playoffs. Kinsley could barely even hear him over the roar of the crowd and the ringing in her ears. Her eyes were wide and her mouth was open, the shock evident on her face. She couldn't believe what just happened. Niall thought she was good enough to use his Playoff Pass on her. She was going to the next round. She couldn't believe it. It didn't feel real.

-ˏˋ "Of course I wasn't going to let her go home! She's my best friend, and she's too talented to let go." Niall reveals in his interview with the camera pointed at him and only him where he's seated still in the empty room with the stage behind and 'The Voice' sign behind him. "She's amazing, and I was so proud of her when I saw her performance. I know she could go far on her own without the slow, but I also know how important it is to have a coach or a mentor by your side. It helps you grow as an artist, and it's a lot of fun, too. So I knew she deserved to stay, and I was determined to save her, no matter what. Even if it meant giving up my Playoff Pass. And, honestly, I'm not even upset. She's a natural on stage, and I have a feeling she's going to blow everyone away. She's incredible. And I couldn't be prouder of her." ˎˊ-

A huge smile slowly makes its way across Kinsley's face as the realization of the situation settles in. She's still a part of the show. She gets to stay. She can't believe it. She turns to Niall and practically jumped into his arms, hugging him tightly. Confetti is on her and all around the stage, but she didn't care. She was too happy. Niall laughed as he caught her, holding her tightly. He was so happy for her. And he was so proud of her. She deserved this.

"So proud of you Kiki." He whispers in her ear, gently kissing her cheek. "You're a star. Always have been and always will." Kinsley tried to ignore the fluttering in her stomach at the compliment and the feeling of his lips against her skin, but it was difficult. Especially since he was so close to her and was whispering into her ear. It was very intimate, and she had to force herself not to shiver. This was not the time or place for this.

"Thanks, Niall." She mumbles, her cheeks burning. She could feel her heart beating faster and her palms were sweating, but she didn't dare pull away. "For believing in me and for using your Playoff Pass on me. You're the best."

Niall pulls back and smiles softly at her, gently tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. Some strands from the braid she had styled her hair in had fallen loose and he couldn't fight the urge to put some strands behind her ear. "'Course, love." He replies, his voice quiet as he set her down gently since he had been holding her in his arms. He really didn't want to set her down but he knew he had to. "You're a bloody fantastic artist, Kiki. You're so talented. And I can't wait to see what else you have in store."

Kinsley tries to ignore the way her heart is hammering in her chest and how her stomach is filled with butterflies. She smiled fondly at him and kissed his cheek before she pulled away fully and went back stage. Her cheeks were flushed and her palms were sweating, but she didn't care. She couldn't stop smiling. And she couldn't stop thinking about Niall. She tried to focus on the rest of the show, but she couldn't help but steal glances at him.

-ˏˋ "I have to say I'm surprised he used his Playoff Pass on me. We are best friends though so maybe that has something to do with it. Even though I told him not to be biased." Kinsley sighs as she looks at the camera. She's now standing back stage, still looking shocked and relieved. "But, honestly, I'm not complaining. It feels good to be here. To have made it this far. I've learned a lot, and I've met so many incredible people. So I'm really glad he used his Playoff Pass on me. And I will try my best to make him proud." She jumps, startled when she suddenly felt strong arms wrap around her from behind but she instantly relaxed as she realized it was Niall. He grins at her, leaning his chin on her shoulder. "You always make me proud, Kiki. You're amazing. No matter what happens." Her face turns red and butterflies fill her stomach, but she tries to ignore them. "You're sweet." She mumbles, smiling softly. "Thank you, Ni, that means a lot from you." She said sincerely, gently squeezing one of his hands that rested on her waist. "No problem. You ready to kill it in the playoffs?" He asked and reluctantly pulled away from her, smiling brightly at her. "Of course! Can't wait to kick some a**!" She beamed at him and grinned a they did their secret handshake they made up when they were kids. They smiled at each other before Niall left, heading back to his seat. Kinsley couldn't wait to see what was next. ˎˊ-

Kinsley immediately went to congratulate Poppy, hugging her tightly. "Congrats, Poppy!" She said, grinning at her.

"Thanks! You too! I'm so happy for you. You deserve this." Poppy gushes, her eyes bright as she hugged her. "So do you! And I can't wait to see how far you go!"

They grinned at each other and then continued watching the show together from back stage. Kinsley felt so many emotions coursing through her. Shock, relief, happiness, and so many more. She was grateful Niall had used his Playoff Pass on her. And she hoped she wouldn't make him regret it.

A/N i love niall & kinsley so much
