As Alora placed flowers down and Seth stood silently, clearly trying to remain composed

I put my hand on his shoulder.
"I miss you darling" Alora said quietly, before she stood back up
"We all miss you" Athena added, taking Alora's hand in her own.

And we stood in silence
In respect for the man we'd lost

This was a long shot. Because I knew how much of a cunt Arwan was
But I also knew his habits
I knew he spent all his money in a fast lifestyle
On fast girls.

So when I tried the bar at two in the afternoon, I was not surprised to find him
Laughing and drinking, snorting cocaine off the table

"Arwan" I spoke up, earning his gaze
"What the fuck are you doing here? You know how fucked you are?" He laughed, getting up and leaving the girls by his side
"We should talk don't you think?" I asked
"I have nothing to talk to you about" he said

"Oh I think you do, shall we?" I asked
He finally left the club, following me out to the back

"Look, you're dead yeah? You know th-"
I swung my leg up and kicked him in the face, knocking him to the ground
"I need to know, who ordered the hit on Enzo Vitali" I said calmly

"Fuck" he hissed, getting up
I kicked him in the side, shoving him back to the floor
"Come on Arwan, just a name and we can all get on with our day" I said, bored

"I don't know" he grumbled, before he swiped his hand out, cutting my leg with his knife
"You fucking little..." I mumbled, kicking the knife from his hand

"I'm not in the mood Arwan" I warned, stepping on his hand
On a normal day I could beat this little prick
But he was drunk. He was high.
He was easy prey.

"I don't fucking know anything you mad cow! They give me the job, I fucking do it!" He shouted, lying on the floor

"You weren't even supposed to get the job" he said
"What does that mean?" I asked
"Arwan!" I warned, kicking him again
"God! Alright, Veronica gave me the job, she said she couldn't give it to you so I couldn't fuck it up. I don't know why" He said frantically.

"I need something better than that Arwan" I said, pulling my knife out, crouching down to him.
"I don't have anything" he said
"Oh I think you do" I said, tapping it against his cheek

"You really want to die over this? Over something so trivial" I mused
He groaned again, rolling over
"Fine. It's a woman" he said
"A woman?"

"Yeah, a woman ordered it, Ciro mentioned it. That's all I know, I swear" he said
"Is it?" I pushed, putting pressure against his cheek
"Yes" he said, smacking my hand away

I stood up
"Good. Then thank you" I said, putting my knife away
"Fuck you" he spat, pulling himself off the ground
"Yeah yeah" I said, ignoring him.

"I'm here for Enzo" I sighed, when the maid showed me in to Athena, sat with her daughter
"Enzo's busy, he'll be done soon, sit" she offered, gesturing to the seat opposing her
I did so, looking around
"No Adonis?" I asked

"Why? You miss him?" she asked
"Maybe I do" I smiled
"He hasn't been happy in a long time you know, you bring a spark out in him, it's nice to see" she said

"Adonis is a bit of fun, nothing more" I denied
She stopped Maliah's hair, smiling back at me
"No, I see it, it's real" she said

"You're married to a man who has a bounty on his head, I hardly think you're the one to give me advice" I said
"What's a bounty?" The kid asked
"Nothing dear, go and get ready for bed" Athena, prompting the girl as she ran from the room
"Yes mama" she called.

"She a cute kid" I said
"If you are going to threaten me, I suggest you don't do it through my children" she said
"No threat" I held my arms, chuckling
"She's cute. I mean it" I said

"Thank you. Thankfully she doesn't take after me or Enzo" she smiled after her
"Obviously, they're adopted aren't they?" I said
"Yes. Maliah doesn't know that though" she said

"But the boy does" I said
"Yes" she said
"Why did you adopt them? What's wrong with you?" I asked, maybe a little too bluntly
She cleared her throat, looking down

"Me and Enzo can't..." she trailed off
I nodded
"Got you" I said simply. Awkward.

"I had a child of my own. But I haven't seen her since she was a baby. Kallius and Maliah, they're my family" she said
"Families are overrated" I said

"Families are forever" she said
I rolled my eyes
"For people like you maybe" I said
"Valencia" Enzo spoke up, rushing in
"Enzo" I nodded

He looked between me and Athena
"Everything alright?" He asked
"Yes, we've just been chatting" she smiled
She seemed... nice?
More fool her
But how did someone like her survive in a world like this?

To the woman who tried to kill her husband?

Threatened her children when we had met.

"Right, you wanted to see me?" He asked slowly, leaving a lingering look on Athena as she picked her phone up
Something was up with him.

"Yeah, I just came to say that I spoke to another contact. He told me it was a woman" I said
"A woman?" He asked
"Yes" I sighed

"I don't know any woman that would want me dead" he said
I shrugged
"That's all I've got so far" I said
"What about me? Anything?" I asked

He hesitated
"Victors working on it. We're looking through the care home but we think you obviously had a different name. It's taking him a while to get through them all" he explained
That made sense I guess

I doubt the organisation would have used my real name
But I couldn't understand why Roan never told me everything he knew
He claimed he knew little, but I knew other wise
He knew everything
He must know something.

"Alright, well, ring me if you have anything, yeah?" I said, he nodded, offering a tight smile
"Right, if that's all then..." he prompted
"Actually, is Adonis here?" I asked
"Or do you know where he is?" I went on

"I'm sorry, I don't think-"
"Yes, he's over in the gym" Athena said
I nodded
"Okay... thanks" I said, eyeing Enzo as I headed for the door
Why was he being so... odd?

I watched him for a while, punching the bag over and over again
Shirtless. Sweating

Why did he have to be sexy? Why does attraction have to complicate everything?

"I can feel you watching me" he finally said, abandoning the bag
"Then why haven't you undressed?" I asked, eyeing him

He chuckled, pulling his gloves off as he turned to me
"What are you here for?" He asked, averting his eyes to the ground
For a man so... rough. So big and strong, his nerves were always so clear to see

"I fancied a fight" I said
"Oh really?" He laughed
"Yeah, isn't that why you stay awake at night? Waiting for me to appear and challenge you?" I drawled out, taking my jacket off

"No" he denied, looking me up and down as I climbed up into the boxing ring
"Come on Demaria, show me what you've got" I dared him

"You know what I have" he said, joining me
"Yes... I do" I said, looking him over in turn
I put my hands up, ready, before I gestured for him to try
To try and take me down

He lunged out, trying to hit me, but I grabbed his arm and pulled him, elbowing him in the face as he fell past me
He staggered back, balancing himself
"Son of a-"
"Come on Adonis, you're better than that, hit me" I laughed

He put his fists up, landing a punch on my ribs, causing me to hunch over in pain as he quickly steadied me
"You alright?" He asked worriedly
I head butted him quickly, before I punched him in the stomach back

"Fuck" he groaned
"Don't start trusting me now" I laughed
He looked up, determined
And I felt like letting him have a win

He gripped my neck hard, slamming me to the floor before he kicked me in the side
A kick that fucking hurt.

He pinned me to the mat, holding my wrists down
"Come on Valencia, you're better than this" he goaded close to my face
"Maybe I just like you choking me" I said

He jaw tensed
"Fine, maybe I'm just concussed" I offered instead
"Maybe, you're just not as good as you thought" he smiled, inches from my face
Blue staring at me in triumph
Triumph I let him have

"You finished?" I asked expectantly.
