213 years it has been since he was cursed by the heavens above. 213 years since the day he broke the one rule he had to follow as a guardian.
He lost everything he once cared for. Family, friends, his children. All that he lives for is the sole title he was born into.
Hero.
Nothing more, nothing less.
His life has no meaning to him anymore. Once you've lost your humanity for immortality, your life becomes meaningless.
You have nothing to lose anymore.

One gunshot.

He ran.

Another one.

Bullets tore through his body as blood splattered, but he felt no pain.

A sword pierced through the body of his opponent.

Screaming. Yelling.

His fist made contact with the head.

One hit. Two hits. Three hits. More.

He kept relentlessly beating his enemy, ignoring the flailing of their arms and the screaming of his team, telling him to stop. Everything was a haze for him.
It wasn't until someone grabbed his arms that he finally snapped out of it, his vision clearing. The first thing he saw was the look of fear, shock and anger in his teammates' faces. Next thing he noticed was the lifeless body on the ground. The villain's head was completely smashed in, blood and brain matter scattered around the scene.
Someone shook him by the shoulder, trying to get his attention.
His head was filled with static, it was only slowly cleared when he heard his name drop.
"Surge! .... Hellø? ..... Ær4 ¥øu økæy?"
He shook his head and turned around. The person holding him was another hero, maybe the only one he had a decent relationship with, out of all of the other nine members. Yariel, an experienced hero with black armour and gold eyes.
He didn't look angry, or shocked. Fearful? Maybe a little bit, but it was overshadowed by the worry in his face. He forced Surge to turn around to him and grabbed his hands.
"Hey, Mark... Calm down... Are you alright?"
Surge wasn't sure if Yariel was referring to the bullet holes in his body, that were slowly healing, or his mental state.
Either way, he didn't answer and just looked down, pulling his hands back.
Without another word, he turned and walked away from the scene. Someone said something behind his back and Yariel coldly told them to shut up.

Surge walked past the hero craft and away from the place where he killed a villain, he could just teleport or fly back home whenever he wanted to, he didn't need transportation.
The problem is that he couldn't bear sitting close to his current team members. Over the years, he grew uncaring and cold to everyone, it just didn't feel right to sit with them when he's still so attached to his old team.
This begs the question if he's even still worthy of being a hero, working for the Hero Factory?
He didn't feel like it.
So what's stopping him from leaving? What if he just retired for the rest of eternity?
Is it because the hero title is all that's left of his identity? The only thing that he has to live for?
He scoffed at himself.

How pathetic...
