Jake had gone out back (with a knife because I told him to after yesterday) to get some food from the store.

He came back in with a cooked rabbit and some blueberries. The rabbit smelled great and I was starving so I would eat anything that looked or smelled like food.

I started to wolf down my portion as soon as jake split it up.

"My god Emily slow down! Do you want to choke?" Jake laughed with concern and humor, odd mix right?

"It's not my fault I'm starving!" I said with a mouth full.

It sounded more like 'ishnomfaltistaving'.

Jake sighed and shook his head with disappointment.

"I'm your sister, you'll live", I swallowed my food and elbowed him lightly.

I heard footsteps and James sat down at the table.

"Morning Emily, how you feeling", he asked and started to eat.

I saw Jake smirk at me and look back and forth from me to James. I scolded at him and shot him a glare.

"Fine, thanks. In fact, I feel really well, I might go hunting later," I smiled.

I could see Jake trying to hold on laughter. I swear, if he said anything to James, that was definitely not true, I would kick him out and let the wolves take him in. By the way, if you have annoying siblings, don't get any ideas, I was only joking, partially anyways.

I saw Sarah walk down and sit at the table.

I saw her look at me then she ran over and gave me a hug. She buried her face in my shoulder and I wrapped my arms around my little sister.

"It's ok, I'm fine", I whispered into her ear and rocked her gently, "thank you."

I saw James smiling at the scene, but I just kept my eyes closed and calmed my sister down.

I pulled away and she bent down, "it's not you fault, plus, my time to be maimed was long over due."

She laughed a bit, "I'm just glad you're ok."

"Trust me, I am too", I joked.

Sarah returned to her seat and started to eat.

"And thank you, James. Jake said you helped Sarah", I mentioned and James looked up.

"Oh it was nothing, anyone would help someone in need," he blushed.

I smiled and ate a handful of blueberries. They were sweet and fresh and my favorite fruit ever!

"Where's Sophie?" I asked and Jake lifted his head from literally licking his plate clean.

"I think she is still asleep," Sarah said.

"Really?!" Jake exclaimed and exchanged a glance with me.

"Is that not normal for her?" James asked, clearly confused.

Jake shook his head, "she is usually up right after Emily."

James now looked a little concerned.

I stood up and pushed in my chair. I gracefully fell up the stairs and to the bed area.

I saw Sophie curled up in a ball under the blankets km her bed. I walked over and she must of heard my incredibly loud footsteps because she moaned and turned to look at me.

I sat on the end of her bed and rested my hand on her foot.

"Since when did you ever sleep in," I teased lightly.

Sophie gave a faint smile and a hoarse rasp before she broke off coughing. She shuddered and rested her head back on her pillow.

"I don't feel that well", she stated.

"No kidding!" I gasped and started to laugh, then I stood up, "get some rest, I'll check on you later."

"You're the best!" Sophie croaked sarcastically and I rolled my eyes and smiled.

When I was half way down the stairs, I poked my head back up, "and I'll have Sarah bring you some medicine."

Sophie's back was facing me but I could see her nod.

I went back down the stairs and sat at the table to finish eating.

"So how's Sophie?" Sarah asked as she saw me sit down.

"Oh, she has a cold and is really tired, can you bring her some medicine?" I asked and finished off my fruit.

Sarah stood up and nodded. She walked to the farthest cabinet that held the medicines. She cocked her head in confusion. I watched Sarah move aside some of the medicines and peer into the back.

"Aha! Found it!" She said triumphantly and gave a sweet smile.

Sarah pulled her hand out of the cabinet with the medicine. She turned and quickly walked upstairs.

I whipped my head back after her heel disappeared behind the wall.

"So Sophie will be fine?" James asked and I nodded.

"It's not like we have never been sick before, she will be fine in a few days," I said reassuringly.

Jake nodded and swallowed the food he was chewing, "The only downside is we don't have another hand to help with hunting."

I saw James flinch at this comment but Jake, being the mindless teenager he was, didn't notice. I mentally sighed at jake's ignorance, hopefully it would ware off with age.

"You know I am not completely useless", James said and nudged jake's elbow jokingly.

Jake's face lit up with guilt and he ducked his head, "oh I am so sorry! I didn't know if you could hunt or not or-"

"It's fine, I can't hunt, but I could learn," James patted jake's shoulder and looked at me with a smile.

It took me a second to realize his proposal.

"Oh, sure I can teach you to hunt, no problem!" I said a little embarrassed I hadn't caught on earlier.

"Me too! Please?!" Jake begged and put his hands together on the table, "another pair of hands would be helpful."

I shook my head and sighed. How many times would I have to tell this kid? Then again, in my earlier teenage years, I was pretty defiant.

"Jake we went over this", I started but jake interrupted me.

"But you'll teach him?" Jake pointed to James as he desperately tried to prove his point.

James opened his mouth to speak but I put my hand on his arm to silence him.

He met my eyes and I could tell he got my message.

"James is 17, you are 13", I argued, "in theory, James is more responsible."

"In theory, that is, but I wouldn't believe everything you hear," James said with amusement and playfully nudged jake's elbow.

Jake smiled and rolled his eyes in a acceptable respectful sort of way that was not rude. A amused way, not annoyed.

"You need help teaching him?" Jake offered and cleared his plate.

"No, I can teach him on my own," I figured Jake could help Sarah or clean up around the house.

As I stood up and dumped my plate in the sink. I saw Jake smirk.

"Oh, I see. You want more time with James," his smirk widened and I slapped his shoulder a little to hard.

Jake stumbled backwards and grabbed the edge of the sink at the last moment before he landed on the floor.

He stood up and brushed off some dirt before glaring at me. I smirked back and turned back to the table.

Thank goodness James had went to grab a sweatshirt and didn't hear Jake's words. Man my brother was an idiot.

James has been using my sweatshirts and the same pair of pants jake gave him since he arrived at our doorstep.

I walked to the door and grabbed my bow and arrow and the spare. I handed the spare bow to James who took it happily. As i reached out my hand to open the door, James had already opened it and nodded for me to go out first.
