The trio left the luggage cart at Gajeels house before making their way to the guild. Avery skipped happily in front of Gajeel and Levy, who were smiling happily. "She's a great kid Gajeel." Levy said softly. Gajeel nodded with a gentle smile, "Yeah, she's somethin else." Avery turned to the pair, "Hurry up! I can see the guild!" Gajeel snorted, "Don't get your shorts in a twist hatchling!" He called after her. Avery laughed and ran ahead, throwing the doors open. "Why hello Avery." Mira said with a smile as the girl ran up to the bar, "Hello Mira! Hi Master!" She greeted cheerily. "What has you so excited?" Markarov asked with a soft chuckle as Gajeel and Levy arrived.

Gajeel ruffled his daughters hair, "Kid here decided she wants to join." Mirajane clapped happily, "That's fantastic!" Markarov smiled, "That is wonderful news. I hope you understand that right away you won't be allowed to take missions. You will need to train with your magic first." Avery nodded in understanding. "And your first few missions i would like you to go with your father or another team. No solo missions for awhile." Avery grinned. "I understand master!" Markarov smiled and nodded before turning to Mira, "Help her with her guild mark?" "Of course!" Mira said happily as she came around the bar, magic stamp in hand.

"Where and what color?" She asked sweetly. Avery pulled her short hair away from her neck and pointed to the right side,  just above her shoulder. "I want it silver please, like me and dad's scales." Gajeel felt a tug in his heart and he could help but smile as Mirajane gently stamped the girls neck. "Now, your an official member of Fairy Tail!" She said with a smile. Averys grin was blinding as she turned to her dad, showing off her mark. Gajeel grinned back at her and ruffled her hair. "Good choice brat. Now come on,  let's get your room set up. We can start training tomorrow."

Avery cheered as she raced out of the hall, calling good bye as she went. Gajeel followed at an easier pace, stopping momentarily to thank Levy for her help. He caught up with Avery shortly after leaving, she was waiting near the stream. They made their way back home, finding that Lily had already emptied the luggage cart. "Thanks Lily!" Avery said happily, hugging the exceed. Lily chuckled and pat the girls head, "Of course. Now let's go arrange your room yeah?" Avery nodded, and the three of them spent the afternoon putting her room together.

Later that night they were curled on the couch, take out containers littering the table. Avery was in her new pajamas, happy to have her own clothes. She yawned as she snuggled into Gajeels side and he smiles softly. "Come on hatchling. Bed time." Avery grumbled but stood up, stretching. "You gonna be ok by yourself?" Gajeel asked as he stood beside her. Avery nodded as she rubbed her eye, "I'll be ok." Gajeel watched her for a moment. This would be the first time she would be alone, and he was a little worried. "Just come get me if you need me ok?" Avery smirked. "I'm a big girl! I think I can sleep by myself!" She grinned at him.

Gajeel smiled softly, he knew she was acting tough. He ruffled her hair, "Yeah yeah. Go on then," He gave her a gentle shove to her room. Avery giggled and skipped to her room. Gajeel shuffled to bed, Lily going to his own smaller bed that was attached on the wall. It didn't take Gajeel long to fall asleep, and he wasn't sure how long he was asleep when he heard it. The cry wasn't loud, but with his enhanced hearing it brought him out of sleep. He sat up and Lily caught his eye, worry creasing his brow. Gajeel waved him off as he stood, walking down the short hallway.

He could hear her sniffling, the sound was muffled like she was trying to be quiet. Gajeel walked into Averys room, and she was sitting up, her face buried in her pillow as she cried. Gajeels heart ached as he saw her, and he could smell the fear rolling off her. He gently sat beside her, and she jumped slightly when he put an arm around her shoulders. "Did you have a bad dream?" He asked quietly. Avery nodded, her face still in the pillow. "Wanna talk about it?" She quickly shook her head, choking on a new sob. Gajeel gently rubbed her back, resting his chin on her head. "Wanna come sleep in my room?" She hesitated for a moment before nodding.

Gajeel gently scooped his daughter up, her arms wrapping around his neck. She buried her face in his shoulder as he carried her into his room. Lily was still sitting up in his tiny bed when Gajeel entered. Gajeel laid Avery in his bed, the girl had already gone back to sleep. "She ok?" Lily asked as he floated do to the bed, gently patting her head. "Yeah she will be." Lily nodded before going back to his own bed and Gajeel curled up beside his daughter.

{Sorry if you guys didn't like this chapter, but I wanted to fit in Averys nightmares somehow. I'm taking suggestions. I have some plans but I don't know when I'm getting to any of it}
