Celebratory dinner with his parents... (790 words)

"Oh my god, who's calling me?" I mumbled as I set down the two pairs of heels and grabbed my phone. "Hello?"

"Wow, what a nice way to greet your boyfriend, Y/N." My boyfriend, Zach chuckled sarcastically and I rolled my eyes. 

"Zach, can I help you with something?" I spoke through the microphone while I was balancing it on my shoulder and I was applying some simple makeup, nothing too fancy. 

"Yeah, I just wanted to remind you that I'm waiting outside your dorm right now!" Zach laughed and my eyes widened in shock. "We were supposed to meet my parents at the restaurant in an hour, remember?"

"I thought you said the reservation was at 7:30?"

"It's 6:45 right now... And it takes about 50-60 minutes to get to Grosse Pointe." 

"Oh, crap! Hey, could you help me with the shoes? I have two already selected but I can't decide which one to wear..." 

"Which dress are you wearing?" 

"Uhh, the navy blue one?" 

"And which heels were you thinking of?"

"I was thinking of either the black ones with the straps by the ankle or the beige ones with the buckle detail by the toes..." 

"Hmm, if you were wearing the navy blue dress, then I guess the beige ones look good." 

"Ok, thank you so much, Zach! I'll be out there in a few!" 

"Alright, I'll see you then, sweetheart." 

And just like that, he hung up the call and I quickly slipped on the beige wedges before I grabbed my phone and put it in my purse and I quickly said goodbye to B/F/N and walked out the door to see Zach looking down at his phone. 

"Hey, I thought we were supposed to be there in the next ten minutes..." I smirked as I tapped him on the shoulders and he turned around to look at me. 

"Wow...You look absolutely...wow...." Zach's jaw dropped open and I chuckled as I closed it and kissed him on the cheek. 

"Now, we don't want to make your parents wait on them for a dinner for your celebration, do we?" I whispered onto his lips as I pressed my lips onto him before I pulled away before it got too heated. 

"You're right. Let's go!" He was at a loss for words and took my hand in his hand.

"Hi, Mr. and Mrs. Werenski! It's so good to see you again!" I smiled as Zach and I walked up to the reserved table and I gave them a hug. 

"It's good to see you again, honey." Mrs. Werenski smiled as she shook my hand and kissed Zach on the cheek. 

"How is sophomore year going for you, Y/N?" Mr. Werenski chuckled as he took his seat next to his wife and I took my seat next to Zach. 

"It's going very well, Mr. Werenski." I shyly smiled as I looked at the menu to decide what I was going to order. "I am very proud of Zach though, tonight." 

I looked at Zach to see him blush and hide his face behind the menu, causing me to chuckle. The dinner went really well and it was nice to reminisce on Zach's hockey journey throughout last year and this year, especially since he was drafted by Columbus in June; he captained Team U.S. in the WJCs back in December, and he was in the NCAA Hockey Championship for the Wolverines not too long ago. The time went by so fast that it was probably around 9 when we decided to say our goodbyes and go back to our places.

"Thanks for coming to the dinner, Y/N. It really made me happy to be with the people I care about..." Zach smiled as we walked back to my dorm and I chuckled. 

"It was no problem, Zach. It's such a big moment for you! You're signed to a try-out..." I playfully nudged his shoulder and we laughed. 

"You know, I'm gonna miss you so much..." His face all of a sudden dropped to a frown and I looked at him.

"Hey, what's wrong?" I looked at him with a pretend frown painted on my face. 

"It's just that you'll be here in Ann Arbor and I'll be down in Ohio...And that I'll miss you so much."

"Unless..." 

"Unless what? Y/N, I know you're hiding something." 

"Unless, I'm transferring to Ohio State to be somewhat closer to you, despite only being 2 hours away!" 

"Oh my god, are you serious?" 

"Yeah, I'm finishing my term here before I pack up to go to OSU."

"And you're doing all this for me, Y/N?" 

"Hey, I could never be far away from you, Zach."

"I love you so much, L/N." 

"I love you too, Werenski."
