Examining myself in the mirror, I tossed myself a nod of approval before I gathered my belongings that were laid out on the bed.

Somehow, the idea of spending a day with Adam got me all giddy that I couldn’t even fall asleep last night. Behind this thick amount of concealer is a pair of ugly dark circles that can make me look like a raccoon.

Thank for the gift of makeup.

“Adam,” I grinned, skipping my way down the stairs. I’m acting more like a little schoolgirl more than anything.

He popped his head from the dining room before presenting me a smile of his own. This is one thing that I wouldn’t mind seeing early in the morning.

“I’m starving,” he complained, “What took you so long?”

I rolled my eyes playfully before I went into the kitchen with him following my steps, “I’m a girl,” I defended oh-so-stereotypically, “If you were so hungry then why didn’t you made your own breakfast.”

He looked down shamefully as he rubbed the back of his neck before eyeing the kitchen sink. This heightened my curiosity and I took a look at it before I burst out in laughter.

A frying pan was placed in there and had dark ashes in it. I presumed that he tried to cook but failed miserably in his attempt.

“What is this supposed to be?” I laughed, filling the pan with water before I allowed it to settle first.

“Bacon,” he mumbled under his breath.

I failed to see how this charcoal blocks look like bacon strips.

“I recall that you were able to cook me lasagna the other night,” I reminded him, grabbing a clean pan and whatever bacon is left from the pack, “How did this happen?”

He settled himself on the kitchen island before explaining, “I made Aunt May teach me during one of the days you were busy.”

Of course, my mom would do anything to help my best friend. She’s extremely fond of him, he’s like a son for her and she does nothing but spoil him. I could already picture my mom glowing with happiness when Adam called her up to teach him how to cook – the fact that he respected her cooking skills enough to ask her is enough to make her gleam with pride.

Pushing the plate of cooked, non-burnt, bacons to Adam, he started to devour it with as much grace as a caveman.

“So where are we going?” he asked after he downed the glass of water I handed him.

“That’s a surprise,” I grinned, grabbing his plate and glass then I placed it in the dishwasher, “Come on, we have a whole day ahead of us.”

We boarded my car and when the both of us were strapped in, I started to drive to our destination.

I knew Adam liked these kinds of places and when I heard a girl saying that it’s the best place for a date with her boyfriend, I decided that I should take Adam there.

It’s hopeful thinking, but hey, a girl can dream.

“An amusement park?” Adam beamed, looking around the place, “Where should we go first.”

I told him that he should decide what our first ride is; the only thing that I’ve planned out was our last. I eyed the ferris wheel and I knew that I would be waiting until nighttime before we’ll ride it. They said that the view up there is spectacular and has the greatest romantic atmosphere.

“Let’s go there first,” Adam said, pointing at the one thing I didn’t want to go inside of.

The haunted mansion looked gloomy, dark and all around scary. My face paled at the slightest idea of going inside of there. I’m scared of ghosts, period.

I gulped audibly but when Adam reached for my hand and he started to pull me to its direction, I wanted to hide my fear. He’s holding my hand and I knew for sure that I’ll be alright if he’s there with me.

Gosh, I have it bad.

I knew that the guy knew who I was but kept quiet and allowed us to enter the attraction. I just hope I’ll still be alive when I get out of here.

Be brave, have courage.

The minute when creepy laughter sounded through the room, I let out a piercing scream.

Oh well, it was nice meeting you courage.

When a fake ghost appeared by my side, out of sheer panic, I swung my bag at it causing it to topple down on the floor. Adam only stared at me with amusement as he strolled leisurely down the place behind me.

He’s going to pay for this, he knew that I was traumatized by the horrible horror movies he dared me to watch when we were kids.

A hand grabbed my ankle and with the use of my reflex, I stomped on the wrist with my free foot.

“Ouch!” A voice grumbled before the hand was retracted from my ankle.

Sorry mysterious guy who’s working for this malicious haunted house.

“Calm down,” Adam chuckled, finally walking by my side, “None of these things are real.”

He placed emphasis on his statement by knocking on one of the tombstones and it fell over, clearly indicating that it was made out of some light material.

I’m not stupid enough not to know that these are fake, the only thing scaring me is the atmosphere and the idea that something or someone will suddenly pop out of nowhere.

“Come on,” he gestured, walking a few steps in front of me, “Let’s go search for the exit.”

I made sure I scanned both sides before I took a step forward. To my complete and utter shock, a girl appeared in front of me. She had black hair that was covering half of her face and her whole body was covered in blood.

My face paled as I let out a scream, but that wasn’t enough for her to stop because she kept on walking to me. I kept backing until my back hit the wall, the girl was saying some kind of mantra and I fell to the floor, watching in fear as she approached me.

I can’t die this way, I still have to get married and have kids.

Tears rolled down my eyes and I covered them, blocking away the scary sight.

Two hands grabbed my shoulder and another scream escaped through my mouth. Only this time, the lady didn’t remove her hands which only made me tremble.

“Sophia,” A voice I knew all too well entered my ears and I slowly removed my hands from blocking my eyes. Adam was kneeling to my level, his face was plastered with concern as he examined my body for any injuries.

His eyes widened in shock when he saw the tears streaming down my cheeks, “I’m so sorry.”

I lifted my hand and wiped away the tears, turning my gaze away from him. I’m surely going to give him the silent treatment today.

Adam was kind enough to hold my hand as we walked to the exit. Just before we went out of the door, he removed his hand from mine and I glanced at him.

“I know a bunch of paparazzi will be waiting outside,” he mumbled, opening the door and I followed.

I squinted my eyes as they tried to adjust to the sudden brightness of the sun. Sure enough, it wasn’t the sun that was blinding me, it was the flashing cameras.

This is not my day.

“Is this a date?” Somebody yelled. My eye twitched as I tried to barrel through the amount of people gathering in a circle around Adam and me.

Honestly, these people seriously have no lives.

Adam knew for the next to two minutes that I was giving him the cold shoulder. He kept asking me what I wanted to do but my response would only be a short huff.

“Let’s play that,” he suddenly said, dragging me to one of the stalls where they offered a aiming game. The grand prize was a pink stuffed bear that was hanging in all of its glory.

“If I win you that bear,” he pointed at the prize, “You’ll have to forgive me.”

Seems like an easy deal. It was kind of a win-win situation for me, if he doesn’t win then I can give him his punishment, but if he does, I’ll get that bear.

Too bad Adam has a terrible aim. He may knock two out of three jars but he never got all of them.

“My arm is about to fall off,” he complained, clutching his arm.

Looks like I’ll still have to keep my mouth shut for the rest of the day.

“I’m going to a quick trip to the restroom,” he pointed at the restroom and I gestured for him to go. I don’t want him to wet his pants all of a sudden.

I plopped down on the one of the nearby benches as I waited for him to finish his business.

Several minutes passed and I don’t know if he really filled up his bladder, having some trouble with his poop or he’s doing something suspicious. Maybe all of the above.

Something pink was shoved in front of my face. I leaned back in surprise as I lifted my hands to push it away. When my hand hit something soft and furry, my eyes focused and it was indeed a stuffed bear.

It was the huge stuffed bear that Adam fought for in that game.

He was grinning in pride like a little boy. Honestly, if he only showed me that face earlier, I would have easily forgiven him.

Smiling at him, I took it from his hold and hugged it closer to me, “Thank you.”

“So I’m forgiven?”

I laughed before I stood up, “Yes, you’re forgiven.”

“Great,” he beamed before slowly pointing at the roller coaster, “Because I really wanted to go on that next.”

He was acting like such a child but that only made me adore him more. He was always like that but I knew that he needed to mature. After all, he has three sisters to take care of back home. It’s nice to be a little carefree every once in a while, the both of us knew that I needed a break more than anything.

I was even given the honor to be the first person who will witness the consumption of Adam’s first ever corndog.

“First you place mustard on it,” I told him, squeezing the bottle and I made a zigzag with the yellow condiment on the corndog, “Then you take a bite.”

He eyes it suspiciously, “I always thought corndogs look so different.”

“It’s just a breaded hotdog,” I assured, “Now eat.”

Closing his eyes, he opened his mouth and took a bite of it. He slowly chewed and when he swallowed, he beamed at the thing.

Yup, he liked it.

When night fell upon us, the park lighted up. It was a lot more amazing than what it looked like when the sun is up and about.

That was when I finally led Adam to the ferris wheel. As expected, there was a long line of couples who was also thinking of the same thing as me.

People glanced at us every now and then. I knew that they were speculating even more that I was dating Adam and truthfully, I don’t want to think of any of those ideas today.

When we finally boarded, I looked out of the glass, admiring the view that was presented to us. We still have a long way to go before we reach the top so we should talk.

“Today was nice,” I commented throwing my head back in relaxation, “There wasn’t too much stress on us.”

“I’m thinking that this whole day wasn’t devoted to me like what you tried to imply,” he said, looking at the outside world, “It was more of an escape for you.”

“Please elaborate.”

He ran a hand through his hair as he thought of the right words, but in the end, he went for the direct approach.

“Today,” he spoke, “You were Sophia.”

Deep down, I knew he was right. Today, I didn’t thought of being in the spotlight, I was usually ready for the flashing lights of the cameras but I pushed them away earlier.

“The girl that has been my best friend since the beginning of time.”

That should have meant to be a compliment. Instead, it was like a stab in the heart, we were near the top and right now, I only stared at him as he pointed at random sights he saw.

The sad truth was, he only saw me as a best friend. I knew I was the one who said that I couldn’t dare to do anything that can tip our friendship, but it hurts to hear that he doesn’t want to be in that kind of a relationship.

“But I’m happy because of today,” he smiled at me.

That smile that I would do anything to see every single day of my life. I want him to be happy, I knew being his best friend would already be an automatic gateway to the task but honestly, I want to make him happy by being his girlfriend.

Dad, you were right. Bringing Adam here was a good way to distract my anger, you knew that I’ll always smile when I’m with him.

The problem is, every day was getting more depressing because I know that we can’t be something more.

We slowly descended downwards, I finally looked at him and plastered a smile like I always do, “Yeah,” I agreed, “I’m happy too.”

Only, it was a half truth.

Honestly, I lost count on what chapter this was. So moving along, this was a little bit of an early update, be happy even if it was sort-of a filler chapter. I honestly wanted nothing to do more than to write this whole week and when I finally touched the computer, I just had to type something!

Adam is such a sweetheart but is so dense, our poor little Sophia. On the side note, a girl from my school is getting her book, Kidnapped To Be Married, published. I'm sure most of you know that story, the author is only a year above me.

Question: Song ideas for Adam and Sophia?

P.S. TFIOS trailed is out, I'm freaking out here!

Don't forget to vote, comment and give me a follow while you're at it.
