Three years ago...

One starry night, a dragon hatched. He was a Little pale yellow dragonet his parents named Horizon. He was no ordinary dragonet, though. He was a nightwing-sandwing hybrid. He had a poison tail, could read minds, and see the future. Horizon's mother, Stargazer, loved him so much, but his father despised him. Without his mother, Horizon would probably be dead. Almost every day, young Horizon would be threatened by his father, and every day, Stargazer saved Horizon from nearly getting killed by his father, Lizard. Stargazer says that Lizard doesn't like Horizon because he is different and that she says that she doesn't care, but Horizon thinks that his father hates him for more than just what he looks like.

Horizon thinks that Lizard hates him for what he thinks Horizon is on the inside.

When he was a few days old, he could walk.

In a week, he found out that he could fly.

After two weeks, he had his first vision, but it wasn't really important.

In a month, he could dig holes in the sand, hunt bugs, and climb cactus, but he still couldn't see.his mother tells him that she thinks seeing isn't as important as all the other things he could do, like hearing the soft wingbeats of the dragons living in the faraway village he had always wished to be in, or feel the vibrations of the desert mice and lizards as they scurried across the sand.

Horizon didn't, couldn't believe her. How he truly wished to see the bright, blazing sun and the beautiful blue sky.

After three months, he was closer to his dream of seeing. Not really close, just a little close. He could see, just a bunch of different colored blurs everywhere. One night his sleeping cave, as he thought of how he wished to see, and how he would do anything to see his namesake, without all these ugly blurs, he heard his parents' voices.

"why, why would you do this to  your own child?" a female voice, probably his mother's, said.

"our son is too powerful and you know it. Our kingdom was in danger ever since this- this monster has hatched. If he turned against us..." Horizon's father said, a growl creeping up his throat.

"he is not a monster! And what if he grows up as a kind and caring creature, like I thought you were. Come on, Lizard. If you do this, I don't know if I can love you anymore." Stargazer's voice started to quiver. Lizard snorted.

"Then don't. Just remember that i'm doing this for the tribe. He needs to go." Horizon's eyesight was still weak, but he could see the golden blur of his father picking him up. The dragonet heard the faint cries of his dear mother, followed by small whimpers as Lizard flew away, his son in his talons.

They flew untill queen thorn's stronghold was a shadow, then just a small dot. When Lizard landed, Horizon felt the smooth grains of sand in between his delicate claws and the rain on his tiny scales for the first time as his father dropped him, not so gently, on the ground. He saw Lizard's golden scales get smaller and smaller as he flew away and little Horizon was left all alone.

                                                                                        ...

Stonemover sensed something tiny scrambling outside his normally silent cave. Closing his eyes, he sighed. His life was practically, frozen ever since he enchanted his scales to turn into stone instead of going mad and killing innocent dragons. Yes, frozen and lonely. Once his daughter came into his cave a few months ago, he thought he could fly away from this animus curse, he felt that he could be free. Then she left. And life was lonely again. Until this little yellow creature came into his home. Now that Stonemover could see it, he noticed that it was a dragonet. In fact, it was a hybrid. Like Sunny, "long lost" daughter, it was a nightwing-sandwing hybrid but, unlike Sunny it had a poison tail. He could see that it had a small silver scale beside each of its big, green eyes, meaning it could read minds, see the future, or both. Stonemover guessed that the little dragonet didn't notice that he was not a statue yet. The dragonet climbed on Stonemover's tail. He grunted and shifted his tail slightly and the dragonet jumped, squeaking. Curiously, it crept towards his tail. Whenever Stonemover moved, the small hybrid squeaked and jumped again. After repeating this several times, it finally gave up and went to a dry spot deeper in the cave.  Once it was asleep, Stonemover closed his eyes and did the same.

"Mwerp?"

Stonemover woke up with the little yellow dragonet in his face, a curious look in its eyes. He sighed. It was time to try to get to know this odd dragon. Slowly, he said,

"who are you? What is your name?" the dragonet scrunched up its-- his face in concentration.

"er... oo-- horee? Nah, horeezoon?" he said Stonemover smiled gently.

"Horizon? Is that you're name?" he asked him.

"Eeeeeeeeee! Ya ya ya ya! Horse-- euh... howiz... gah!" the dragonet buried his face into his talons, obviously frustrated. Stonemover laughed a stonily

"You spell it like ho-ri-zon."

"ho rye, nah, rizon? Horizon!" Horizon clapped his talons together happily. Stonemover had a feeling that this was the start of a really good friendship.
