"Toothless, stop! Snap out of it!"
Toothless' glowing blast kept smoldering in his throat. The alpha's control was simmering in his mind, telling him how this Viking shot him down, paralyzed his ability of flight. This Viking took him, and made him a pet. And yet, there was a small part of Toothless that questioned it, but that part was not big enough to stop the inevitable.
"No!"
A sonic blast pulsed, blowing Stoick and Valka off their feet. Stoick grunted as he got up, but soon started running again. "Son!"
Astrid jumped off Stormfly, sprinting with all her might to the ice covered body. A sharp sob hit her. She pushed and pulled the pieces of ice from her love's body, slowly uncovering it. She took his head in her lap, simply stroking her thumb along his cheek. A tear fell from her eyes, landing and soaking into his chin.
"Oh son," Stoick murmured. He laid a hand on Hiccup's chest, though he knew he would find no heartbeat. His eyes welled up with tears. His son was gone, sacrificed himself for them all. Soon his tears fell, each landing on Hiccup's breastplate.
"Hiccup?" Valka whispered. Her eyes glassed over, she lost her son, again.
Astrid bit her lip, trying not to bawl. Valka's maternal instincts kicked in and she gently took hold of Astrid, cradling her near to her chest. Hiccup had described Astrid perfectly, not leaving out a detail. Valka's heart ached for her son, but she knew that at the same time, Astrid's would ache for her would-have-been husband.
Toothless shook his head and sat up. It took him a minute to reorient himself, but he soon saw the destruction he caused. He inched forward and nudged Hiccup's hand. When Hiccup did not respond, Toothless knew the true extent of his action. He lost his rider and best friend. He let out a small and pitiful wail. He turned, unable to bear the fact that he was responsible.
"Toothless!" Astrid cried. She jumped up to chase the poor dragon. He ran, but ended up being tangled in a loose net. Astrid approached him quietly. "Toothless? Hey buddy."
Toothless let a low and sorrowful croon rumble in his throat. Astrid unfolded him from the net. Toothless remained laying down, unwilling to get up. Astrid sighed and took Toothless' head on her lap.
"I know you think we all blame you, but you couldn't help it," Astrid murmured whilst stroking his head. "C'mon Toothless, at least stay for the ship."
Toothless looked up with his sad eyes, but nevertheless got up and padded back over to his rider.

The ship, was the saddest that Astrid had ever seen. Maybe it was because that was her boyfriend. Maybe it was because he was special. Maybe it was because he was Berk's hero. However you want to label it, it was a rough one for Astird Hofferson.
As she let her arrow fly to Hiccup's boat, her hand let her bow clatter to the ground. She quietly cried. She had lost everything that mattered. Her parents were gone, now Drago took her beloved dragon and he forced her beloved to die at the blast of his own dragon. She sat on the beach, watching the fire glow against the smoky backdrop of rocks.
"A great man has fallen, a warrior, a rider, a leader," Gobber hesitated, due to the emotion behind his words. "A son and a beloved."
Astrid sat on her hip, her hands playing with themselves in her lap. It was her turn to speak. "Hiccup, I remember the first time we met. We were five, young and carefree. You showed me all your swords and weapons that you helped Gobber make. I was honestly thrilled and interested, but, my dad told me that I would be better off not being with you. And I listened. I'm so sorry, I should never have shut you out.
And now that we finally could be together forever, we can't. Hiccup I can't think of any other brave and selfless Viking. You are a hiccup, but in the best way possible. You are our leader, and you are the savior of Berk. You are the only one who ever saw me for me, and I promise you, I will always love you, Hiccup Haddock. And Berk will remember you forever."
By the end, Astird had enough courage and strength to pull herself up to stand. Her eyes glistened with tears, but a smile was on her face. Hiccup would always be in her heart, and sure, it may ache for him, but he will never be forgotten.

Astrid Hofferson never took the hand of anyone in marriage. All the Vikings on Berk respected that wish, as they all knew her heart still lied with Hiccup. Toothless became Astrid's dragon. Stormfly was sad that Toothless got her rider's full attention, but she found another rider to be loyal to. A young girl named Azar, who made sure to visit Astrid so she could see her first dragon.
Stoick and Valka no longer lived in the Chief's hut, as it was very empty without Hiccup, but also Stoick retired. He passed the reins to Snotlout. He and Valka enjoyed their lives, until they could reunite with Hiccup in Vallhalla. Astrid also became Snotlout's right hand woman and the leader of the dragon riders, making sure that ever young rider knew the origin and knew of Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third, the first dragon rider.

WHY DO I DO THIS???!!!!
Did anyone else cry? I'm the freaking author!
Well, I'm just going to go cry in a corner.
