Prompt # 14 -  'You hate Mondays, so every Monday I slip an anonymous love letter in your bag and your smile gets me through the week.'

📝  📝  📝  📝  📝  📝  📝  📝

For the first three weeks (only on Monday's) it was simply a smiley face drawn on a sticky note stuck to his locker.

But then, the next four weeks, it was a small note slipped into his locker.

"Have a fabulous week :)"

"You have a cute voice, and your simply adorable as it is :)"

"Laugh more, I like it when you do :)"

"You look wonderfully stunning as always :)"

The notes always brought a soft sort of smile to Nico's face, and his friends teased his mercilessly when he gently folded the notes and stuck them in one of his binders with care, even the simple smiley faces during the first few weeks.

Then, the notes started appearing in his bag, which he had no idea how the mystery person achieved. Either mystery person was just really sneaky, or Nico was just really not conscious of his items.

Still, despite the fact that someone could easily take stuff from his bag, he was happy about the notes he got every Monday.

It made him eager to get to school on Sundays, and excited for the letter on Mondays.

And, he admits, he has his hopes on who the mystery person is.

Because he may or may not had been admiring Will Solace since the first day of high school.

Nico's most proud moment is probably one time in science when he asked Will to be his partner on a project they were doing. That resulted in them becoming semi friends but also kind of not friends. They have conversations every now and then, but they don't hang out outside of school, and it's not like they text twenty-four seven, Nico doesn't even have Will's number, but they do occasionally Snapchat, mostly things saying 'streaks' or a random video or picture of their pets.

All in all, though, through those short chats and cats in dresses (don't ask), Nico's come to grow a strong liking for Will.

But, sadly, the mystery person is probably not him. Because Will was most likely straight and most likely had a girlfriend. Because Will was simply perfect that way.

His friends say there is a possibility that it could be Will, but when they voice said possibilities, they don't seem to be convincing them selves either (A+ for effort though).

Walking into his science class, he found the note on top of his desk today. He slowly unfolded the letter, a soft smile dancing on his lips, and read the note.

"I'm really glad you're in my life <3"

He blushed, smiled a bit wider, and carefully put the note in his binder.

He didn't know if he even wanted to find out who this mysterious admirer was, because it may turn out to be some poor, unsuspecting girl crushing on a gay guy.

And Nico could definitely say it was terrible crushing on some one who had no possibility of being attracted to you.

With a slightly unhappy sigh, he pulled his notes out and began studying.

The next Monday, Nico was surprised to see three black roses taped to his locker.

He felt Percy nudging his shoulder, and Nico couldn't help the smile and blush.

Out of the corner of his eyes, he saw Will at his own locker, smiling softly with his own blush. Nico bit his lip as he carefully took the roses off, wondering if it was possible Will had put them here. Shaking the thought from his head, he turned to Percy and Jason.

"These are going to die in my locker," He said, holding the roses as if they were made of glass.

"Take them to class then," Jason suggested, and Nico blushed harder.

"I - I can't, I mean, people would- you can't just - just bring roses to class," he stamered, "and people would ask questions and that means social interaction and-"

"Nico," Percy chuckled, "nobody's gonna care, dude." Nico sent a glare at him, and when the bell rang, he decided he should probably bring the roses with him, because he really didn't want them to die.

He grumbled a bye to the two giants he was friends with, and made his way to his first class.

When he sat down, Will approached him.

"Here," he said, a water bottle in his hand.

"Uh," confused, Nico took the bottle, because he didn't want to come off as rude, "what's this for?" Will smiled.

"The flowers, so they don't die or anything."

"Oh," Nico hadn't thought about that, "thank you," he smiled, despretly trying to ignore the burning in his face.

"What are they for?" Will asked, putting his hands in his pockets.

"Oh, some one gave them to me," Nico said, blushing more and trying to hide his disappointment. Does this mean that Will definitely isn't the one who was giving him the notes?

"Do you know who they're from?" Will asked, slightly tilting his head.

"Uh, no." Will's smile only widened.

"Well hopefully you will return the feelings of who ever gave you the flowers, they would be really lucky if you did." Nico looked at Will, his blush growing.

He was about to respond, but the teacher walked in and told everyone to sit before he could.

"See you later, Nico," he gave Nico a smile, then walked over to his desk.

Nico couldn't help the smile as he set the flowers in the water Will gave him.

At lunch that day, as Nico sat down at his usual table with his seven other friends, he told them his thoughts on the whole notes thing.

"I hate this," was his opening statement.

"This conversation is going to be lovely, I see," Piper answer, and Nico let out an annoyed sigh.

"I just don't see the point of writing notes every Monday if you aren't going to tell me who you are!"

"But that's what's so romantic about it," Frank reasoned.

"It's not romantic, it's frustrating. Do you know how many people has liked me in my life? Zero. Zero people and this person may not even like me, what if they think my locker is some one else's?"

"They put the notes on your book bag though?" Piper laughed.

"Yeah, okay, but still? What if they're only doing this because I'm, quote on quote, that one emo kid who probably doesn't have any friends," Nico pouted, crossing his arms and sitting back in his chair, "I'm not even emo."

"You're right," Percy said, "you're just goth." Nico sighed in exasperation, uncrossing his arms and glaring at Percy.

"Not helping." Percy shrugged.

"I don't know, Frank's right, I think it's cute."

"Jason, tell them it's not cute."

"Personally, if I were in this situation, I'd probably go around asking everybody if it was them with no shame," he shrugged, "but I definitely find it cute." Nico rolled his eyes.

"You can't pretend like you don't like it, Neeks," Hazel said, smiling, "the blush you get each time you get a new letter, it's absolutely adorable."

"I can pretend," Nico muttered grumpily, "I can pretend as much as I please. It may not be real, but no one needs to know."

"Can I say you suck at pretending then?" Leo spoke up.

"No, you may not." Ignoring the laughs and chuckles, Nico looked over at Will's table with longing, wanting to be with him, laughing with him and his friends, being able to freely talk with him with out feeling like he was going to barf, being able to just-

He felt panic surge through him as Will's eyes were suddenly looking at his own, and quickly turned his face so he was looking at his food, ignoring the laughs from his friends once again.

"You're all terrible friends," he grumbles.

"Nico," Annabeth said softly, putting her book down, "if you like him so much, you should just tell him."

"Yeah right, let's see my anxiety letting me do that." There were laughs at that, an Annabeth frowned.

"I'm serious," she said, "if it is him doing this, he's taking a chance because he doesn't know you're gay."

"But what if it's not him?" She shrugged.

"If it's not him then maybe you telling him could be the first step to getting over him." Nico bit the inside of his cheek, thinking about it.

Maybe it would help him get over Will, because there was no way he was gay. Even if he was, there was no way he liked Nico.

With a sigh, Nico dropped his head on the table.

———

The next Monday, he was glad to see the note taped to his locker.

After he read it,

"I really like you and hope to work up the nerve to tell you in person one day,"

He looked over to Will's locker, where he was chatting with his friend.

Taking a deep breath, Nico walked over to him.

"Hey," he said, and Will smiled at him.

"Hey, what's up?" Nico fiddled with the folded note in his hand.

"I- I need to talk to you," he already felt his cheeks heating.

"Okay," he glanced at his friend, and he put his hands up in a surrendering type way, and left with a small grin. Will looked back over at Nico.

"Hey," he said, and Nico responded with a small smile, "what did you want to talk about?" Nico didn't respond for a second, trying to gather his thoughts.

"I - I think I have an idea of who's writing the letters." Will tensed, and Nico took that as a good sign.

"Yeah?" Will asked, his face turning a slight pink and seemingly having trouble looking Nico in his eyes, "who do you think it is?" Nico looked at Will.

"You," he says quietly.

"M-Me?" Nico nodded, taking another deep breath to calm his nerves.

"Y-You know, I wouldn't- if it was you, I wouldn't mind. I um, I actually would like it if - if it was you," Nico could feel his face burning, and he looked away from Will in an attempt to hide it, "I- I like you." He looked at Will, and saw he was also red.

When Will didn't reply, he felt himself panicking.

"I-I mean if it wasn't you who was giving the notes or- or if you don't feel the same that's - that's okay I just-"

"I like you, too." Nico looked up at Will, seeing a smile on his face. Nico looked down at his feet, blushing and smiling.

"Would-would you want to-to go out some time, maybe?"

"Yeah," Will answered, and Nico looked at him, "I would like that." Nico nodded, nervously tucking a piece of hair behind his ear. Will grabbed a piece of paper and a pen from his locker, and then wrote his number on it, handing it to Nico.

"Text me when, okay?" Nico nodded, adding the number to his phone immediately.

He needed to remember to thank Annabeth later.
