Syndi glared at the music before him, silently killing the director over and over in his head. The notes, were impossibly, high. Too high for a Bass. He shut his eyes, pinching the bridge of his nose as he heard his fellow Bassists silently complain too.

He felt a poke to his cheek, and opening one eye he saw the tip of Sparkles bow inches from his eye. He was sitting back words in his chair, curiosity on his face.

"I can't play these notes," Syndi hissed.

"I know," Sparkles replied, making the Bassist sigh dramatically.

"No you don't. You're a violist, not a bassist," Syndi watched him set his bow down on his stand so that he can pull his music to let Syndi see. His was in bass cleft.

"I understand. How do you read this?"

"Come over to my house after practice."

--

Sparkles pulled the blanket over him, falling onto the couch. Syndi sighed and placed his instrument in the corner, rolling both his shoulders.

"I really hate big instruments," Syndi plopped down on the couch near Sparkles, shuffling both their music sheets so he could see both.

"Why play it?"

"Cause I don't feel like switching," Tom pulled out a red pen, popping the cap off with his teeth.

"Why?"

"Cauthe I don'th wanna," Syndi frowned and spit the cap out, hearing it land somewhere, "would you wanna switch an instrument after taking four years to learn it?"

"No."

"Exactly."

--

By midnight, both understood their parts by heart. It had taken forever transcribing it to Violist from Bassist, but the amazing Syndi did it. Sparkles had fallen asleep hours ago, laying his head in Syndi's lap. The Bassist was awake, tapping his notes onto Sparkles shoulder. The tv played quietly as background noises.

Syndi had to admit, mission accomplished.
