Chapter 15

Dolly's POV

 That talk with Jessie really opened up my eyes a lot. I'm so thankful that she's giving my original group and I a chance to go on a trip as well. We covered for her, Buzz, and Bullseye so it's only fair that she returns the favor. We're going to take a weekend away in the cottages up in the mountains. It's only about two hours away but they have cabins designed for toys too. That's one of the main points of interest for having Trixie booked the reservation. She's very computer savy despite being a dinosaur. The cabin resort even has a hot springs area you can relax in any time of day. I'm so excited! 

   Jessie smiles at me while I begin packing. "I'm really happy for you Dolly. I hope you enjoy your getaway. Be sure to let me know how the hot springs are. I've never been in one before and would like an opinion before I ever dip into one myself." I giggle. "Will do. I've heard they're quite helpful in easing one's stress joints. The humans use them constantly while on vacation. We'll have our own private one. The resort must have a lot of guests with kids because they actually have cabins designed specifically for toys. I've never heard of that before. Have you?" She shakes her head no. "No, I can't say that I have." She ends up helping the rest of us pack too. The rest of her gang is still asleep but Jessie doesn't sleep much. Sadly she has insomnia. I have some nights myself but the poor girl has it all the time. 

     "Jessie, you're incredible. Do you know that? I know Buzz is the official leader of your gang in Woody's absence but do you know who the heart of that gang really is." She blushes. "W-Who is it?" I point a finger at her chest gently before hugging her. "It's you." She gasps. "Wow Dolly, that means the world to me. I don't think anyone has ever told me that before. Thank you so much." I smile genuinely. "No need to thank me, it's the truth. Thank you again for helping all of us pack. Can I get you a drink or anything to thank you properly?" "If you sneak an iced tea up here, I'd love that." I nod and sneak down to the kitchen without any problems because no one is home at the moment. I jump up into the fridge, grab a can of iced tea, and bring it back upstairs. 

       Jessie ends up splitting it with me. It's raspberry flavored and really quenches our thirst. Packing is a tiring process, very similar to moving. It takes a lot out of a gal. By the time we're done drinking and sitting around, everyone else begins to wake up. Jessie and I rattle off the itinerary for today ourselves. This catches Buzz by surprise but he doesn't object to it. I think he's sincerely proud of Jessie for stepping up the plate and taking on more leadership responsibilities. I know I'm proud of her. I sound like I have a girl crush on her... the truth is I probably do. That's not a horrible thing, is it? Women empowering women is a wonderful thing in my eyes. 

Buzz's POV

 After the itinerary is rattled off for the day, I quickly catch Jessie for a moment. "Jessie, I know you and Dolly are doing a lot of work together today, but before you start, I just wanted to let you know proud of you I am. It's also quite nice to have another person step into the leadership role a bit, especially my precious girl." She gives me a quick kiss on the cheek before going off to do her business and I go about doing mine with Rex, Hamm, Slinky, and the Potato Heads.
