Balancing Cores is an open world RPG game. Taking place on the continent of Metra.

Hundreds of years ago Metra was captured in a constant war between 6 different factions. The Dragons, The Pegasi, The Hippocampi, The Thunderbirds, The Golems, and The Yetis. These 6 factions were constantly at war over who should rule all of Metra and which element they represent as well. These elements are Sear, Sky, Sea, Storm, Stone, and Snow. But after centuries of war a 7th more technologically advanced faction called the Dynasty showed that the six elements could live in harmony. Thus the war between the 6 factions ended and they all merged with the Dynasty. The 6 elements living in harmony in the city at the heart of Metra called the Capital. With a city for each element surrounding it. The surrounding cities are Ifrit, Griffin, Leviathan, Raiju, Troll, and Barbegazi. Each having a branch of a Sky affiliated organization called the Windbreaker's Association who manage different aspects of normal life such as weapon registration. Each city has two leaders. A Regent and a Magister. The Regent handles affairs of diplomacy outside of the city such as peace treaties and establishing trade routes. The Magister deals with affairs within the city such as legalizing specific activities. The Magister also serves as the head of the Windbreaker's Association branch of their city.

There are people on the continent of Metra that have a special gene that allows them to manipulated one of the six elements. These people are known as Bearers. Because they are capable of wielding special weapons created by scientists of the Dynasty that use Core technology. These Cores power the weapon's ability to act as a medium between a Bearer's connection to the elements and the physical world. Allowing a Bearer to summon their element in their attacks. But to receive one of these Core weapons a Bearer must be registered with the Windbreaker's Association. The available weapons that use Core technology are Swords, Bows, Spears, Gauntlets, Pistols, and Hearts (catalyst equivalent).

You/the MC are a Windbreaker from the Windbreaker's association in Leviathan and need to head to the Capital to meet with the head of the Dynasty and the Regent of the Capital Meili. You arrive in the Capital and see something you've only heard of and seen in videos but never seen up close. A Speedglider race. Speedgliders are flying motorcycle-like vehicles that have wings and are themed after birds. You manage to catch the race as it ends and see the winner is a boy named Tiankong on his Speedglider Sparrow. You smile at the race and head to the Regent's Tower at the center of the city. There you meet the Regent Meili who informs you that there is a dangerous threat on the rise. A group of the Sear faction from hundreds of years ago, the Dragons, is still around and planning a rebellion against all the cities in order to help the element of Sear rule all of Metra. Meili wanted to inform you so that you could send a message to the Regent and Magister of Leviathan about this threat so that the city of the Sea element is ready for them. Regent Meili will ask other Windbreakers from the other cities to come to the Capital to do the same. But she also tells you that after you send the message to make sure you enjoy your time in the Capital and see the sights.

You do that and after sending the message to the Regent and Magister you walk around the streets of the Capital where you meet Tiankong from the Speedglider race from earlier. You two talk for a while and he invites you to his next race on the Phoenix Peril track just outside of the city. You agree and continue on your way. Where you're nearly attacked by some thugs in an alleyway but being a Bearer of the Snow element you and your trusty sword were able to fend them off. You investigate their clothes and see a pendant with the insignia of the Dragons faction. You take a picture of it to show to the Regent and then signal the authorities about the thugs and ask them to take them away. You start to wonder why the Dragons decided to attack you and why now but you put that at the back of your mind for now.

And that's where the story ends for now. But just know that at Tiankong's race you meet two new Bearers and they and Tiankong join your party for free.

Onto the Bearers themselves. So far I only have two thought out. One is Tiankong and the other is the first event 5* for when the game would release. If it existed. Which it doesn't.

Tiankong is a 4*, bow wielding, Sky type Bearer. His Normal Attack deals five shots of Sky DMG. Hold the Attack button to release an aimed attack at a enemy dealing Sky DMG. Tiankong's Core Skill summons a feather-filled gust of wind that deals AOE Sky DMG and applies a Feather-Bound mark on each opponent hit which causes the opponent to take Sky DMG after certain intervals. Tiankong's Core Finale launches an arrow into the air that hits the ground dealing AOE Sky DMG and for each enemy that had a Feather-Bound mark they're dealt extra Sky DMG.

And for the final character I have fleshed out.

Matrix is a 5*, heart wielding, Sea type Bearer. His Normal Attack deals six instances of Sea DMG. Hold the Attack button and Matrix releases a stream of water dealing constant Sea DMG until Stamina runs out. Matrix's Core Skill makes him dash through an enemy dealing Sea DMG and applying him with the Judgment of Waters effect that decreases the amount of stamina needed for Charged Attacks. Matrix's Core Finale summons a whirlpool that deals AOE Sea DMG to all enemies and gives minor healing to all team members after a certain passive talent is unlocked.

So yeah that's Balancing Cores. It was originally going to be called Core-fu but I thought that was a stupid name so I scrapped it and replaced it with the name it has now. But I do like this concept. It was supposed to a different kind of concept but I'm actually happy with how I changed it. So yeah.
