katelyn is a dreamer. that's the first thing about this lovely darling. she dreams big, sets goals. she wants the absolute most out of life, and she doesn't want to have to settle for anything less. she's always had that go-getting type of personality. that 'i'm going to take over the world one day' sort of vibe. can you blame her? it's a big world, full of wonder and possibilities. how could that /not/ excited her. so you see, this girl basically wants it all, and she's willing to work to get just that.

katie is also one of the sweetest girls you'll ever meet. she goes out of her way to be kind to others. treat others the way you want to be treated, right? the world has enough hate and negativity, why would she add to that? no, kate is a completely sweetheart. you'll find her with one of the widest grins on her face, trying to do her best to help others. that's the thing, katie/loves/ to help people. it's sort of her thing. if she sees someone in need, she's there. kate is what some may call a bleeding heart, but is that really a bad thing?

another thing, katie is probably one of the biggest dorks you'll ever meet in your lifetime. from the way she acts to the way she rattles off random scientific facts, you'll know she's a dork from day one. to add to that, katie is probably one of the goofiest dorks you'll ever meet. kate is like the easiest person to make laugh. any stupid joke or pun, and she'll burst into a fit of giggles. you know how people sometimes like to have straight face contests? the things where people stare at each other and see who'll break their straight face first? yeah, kat has lost practically (literally) every straight face competition she's ever had. the girl can't stay that serious if she's trying to. this of course, is in a casual and happy environment. she's all about that type of stuff. she loves just hanging out and joking around with friends. she can be quite the chatter box when she's around people she's comfortable with. she's super friendly and dorky, so of course you'd assume she's talkative. all of those traits just seem to go hand in hand.

one huge thing about katie is that she is a hopeless romantic. kate grew up reading all sorts of fairytales, and absolutely adoring the ones with happy endings. the idea of finding one person who accepted and understood and loved you more than anyone... well, it seemed like the best thing in the world to katelyn. she wanted that. when she grew older, she kept the same ideals. while she wasn't exactly reading fairytales of glass shoes and sleeping princesses, she still read romance books and loved them with all her heart. she knew soulmates was kinda a cheesy idea, but she sort of loved the idea. one person. one person who you're just /meant/ to be with. she knew it was optimistic to believe that, but she just couldn't help it. so yes, call katie a hopeless romantic. she accepts the title with pride. it just simply means that she dares to hope and believe in love. what's so wrong about that? seriously, nothing. so maybe katie sometimes gets all blushy and flustered around cute boys. maybe she way too often gets lost in a day dream of true love. but seriously... don't blame her. blame whoever wrote cinderella.

determination is definitely not something that dear katie is lacking in. the girl has work ethic to spare. her whole life she worked hard. whether it was with part time jobs, school, or basically anything she set her mind to, the girl has always been hustling. she believes that nothing good comes from just sitting around and waiting for things to happen. you have to make your own destiny. nothing good ever happened with a fierce spirit and a little bit of effort. at least, that's kat's opinion. so yes, usually katelyn is this lovable, sweet and easy to get along with dork, but there is this side of her. the unstoppable side. the side that gets fired up and determined if you put a challenge in front of her. the girl with the tiniest bit of hidden edge. how can a woman succeed without fierceness? the answer is simple, she can't. so katelyn rose to the challenge, simple as that. she's got a little bit of fire to her, so watch out. look like a butterfly, sting like a bee. this also applies to defending her loved ones. she's a loyal person, so if you go after her people, she'll stand up for them. she's not a completely passive girl. while she always tries to find a peaceful route, she isn't opposed to having to stand up for those who can't. and yes, this may partly go back to the whole 'bleeding heart' thing. katelyn is the type of person to fight for those who can't fight for themselves. yes, this is where she gets a little bit political. every deserves equal rights and she's always willing to stand up and speak up for that. hell yeah, this girl is a feminist. so don't think that a sweet lovable dork is all katelyn is. she's got fire. be careful.

➱ katie is a bit of a perfectionist. meaning she can sometimes, just /sometimes/, the girl can get controlling. she likes things a certain way, and sometimes that means she takes over the situation. good luck if you're planning something with her or being in a group project with her...

➱ sometimes she can ignore the outside world when she's in a really intense study session. this sometimes means some of her loved ones feel a bit pushed aside. she tries to work on it, but she still gets caught up from time to time.

➱ this girl cannot control her mouth. you say something rude to her, she'll probably have a come back. you tell her a secret? you better hope no one asks about it because she's terrible at keeping secrets.

➱ the hopeless romantic thing. yeah. it's gotten her hurt a few times. she's kissed a few frogs hoping they'll turn into princes, but... unfortunately they just stayed frogs. she's done a lot of crazy things for crushes, and for some reason i don't think that's going to stop any time soon.

➱ if you get on her bad side, whether it be for being a jerk, hurting someone she loves, or just being an in general jack ass, you're basically on her bad side permanently. sorry, this girl holds grudges. you wouldn't expect it of the sweetheart, but she's not very forgiving. watch out.

➱ insecurity is a rather large flaw of katie's. she sees the best in others, but not always herself. there are a few things that she's confident in, but not many. she sees it as being humble, but she doesn't realize humility doesn't equal having no self confidence.

➱ also, the impatience in this girl is real. she's terrible at waiting for everything. at christmas time, the girl would always have to search for the presents to find out what she was getting early. yeah... this girl really is terrible at waiting. oops?

um?? the royal family is inviting her into a literal fairy tale. the ones she's basically adored and cherished her whole life? sign her up! does she expect to fall for a prince... well, probably. she actually knows she's gonna get a crush on a prince. it's a fucking prince for pete's sake! she falls for everyone, so she's expecting it. but she definitely isn't expecting to become a princess... okay maybe in her wildest dreams she does... definitely. okay, she can't help it, she's a dreamer! don't blame her. she knows she's probably setting herself up for heartbreak, but she's excited for the gorgeous gowns and fairytale balls. even that will be enough for her. maybe. she's kinda a mess, but you'll get used to it, don't worry. maybe worry a little. it's up to you, really.

❀ BACKSTORY ❀

as you may have noticed, katie comes from a pretty damn big family. she was the fifth born child of velma and lavon rothery, and their only girl. yeah, you probably guessed, but life as a little girl with four older brothers was /slightly/ hectic. day after day, life was crazy but as amusing as ever. katie couldn't help but love every moment of it — well, maybe not /every/ moment... after all, she had four brothers and that lead to lots of odd and sometimes way too weird moments. but all in all, she wouldn't trade her family for the world. they were tight as could be. their loyalty to each other was clear. you mess with one rothery, you get the wrath of all of them. so watch out. boys who dated katie in high school had to be particularly brave since they'd have to answer to the rothery brothers if they broke their little sister's heart. seriously, you better watch out.

from a young age, it was clear that katelyn was destined for great things. she was always a hard worker. the teacher's pet, the class president. basically the all around over-achiever as she grew up. it was no surprise in high school when she announced that she was going to become a doctor — she was going to head to med school as soon as she could. see, katie comes from a family of threes. her parents are both college professors, two of her older brothers were on the fast track to try and make associate at prestigious law firms (each at a different, rival law firm. it was quite the amusing family scandal. also a raise to see who could climb the ladder faster), another brother was an aspiring architect, and katie's twin, george was in school to become an engineer. yeah, the whole family was full of overachievers, and that just encouraged kat to work harder and harder. nowadays, kat is basically working her ass off. the girl goes to med school and works two part time jobs. half her time is spent tutoring, and the other time she works at a makeup store. that may seem surprising, but the girl actually loved the little shop. she worked the two jobs to pay rent and other various bills. yes, the moment katie turned eighteen, she moved out of the house and into a college dorm for a while. after a year in a tiny annoying dorm, katie moved into an apartment with her best friend, james reever. the two are basically thick as thieves. and now they're the perfect duo for world domination — or just having a lovely little apartment together. either one works. so yes, katie's life is basically constantly hectic, but she wouldn't change it for the world.

❀ OTHER ❀

➱ katie is basically a mix between tiana from princess and the frog and anna from frozen. she's a determined dork.

➱ cheesy soap opera medical shows are actually so fucking funny to katie and she absolutely loves them

➱ if you manage to somehow find a new and unused nickname for katelyn, she'll actually be ecstatic and probably hug you — the girl just really likes nicknames.

➱ katie is the type of person to always stop for coffee before class or work, but she's always sweet enough to bring her friends and acquaintances coffee too, so catching her trying to juggle carrying all her books plus a drink holder filled with coffee.

➱ james (her best friend/roommate) and katie may have or may have not basically adopted a stray cat they'd noticed hanging around their apartment by leaving out cat food (which they had to go out and buy) and basically bribing the cat into becoming their pet. they now call the darling cat 'mrs fluffleton' and keep her even though their apartment building has a strict no pets policy. try telling that to mrs fluff.

➱ kat has a weird love/hate relationship with horror movies. they scare the crap out of her, but she actually loves being able to cuddle up with someone she loves (hopefully a cute boi, given her hopeless romantic tendencies) and feel safe with them. it's a weird date idea, but she likes it.

➱ katelyn is the type of person to basically organize her whole life in a little planner. it had everything she needs, her work schedule, her school schedule, all her assignments, room for to do lists, it basically keeps the girl sane.

➱ the girl basically turns into a wimp whenever a thunderstorm happens. catch her hiding under a blanket and watching rom coms to try and distract herself from the scary shit going on outside.
