mackenzie never sugar coats anything, so neither will i. this is a girl who literally doesn't give a single fuck. you couldn't even dream of controlling her. mack always has one of the biggest personalities in the room. she's loud and she's proud. her sarcasm and attitude are unavoidable. they're two things she'll always have with her. sometimes the girl will make an effort to seem polite and normal, but that never really lasts long. mack just can't help but be herself. it's against her nature to try to act tame when really she can be as wild as they come.

okay, so that was fun. i made a bunch of broad statements and restated the same thing over and over again in different ways. let's get a bit more into detail then, shall we? when you first meet mack she'll be pretty friendly. of course her version of friendly is still a little... unique. probably within the first forty-five seconds of knowing her she'll try to make some stupid, but non offensive joke about your surroundings. maybe it will be making fun of someone in the area. that's just how mackenzie works, she operates on teasing and snickering. she's the girl who always seems to be laid back and chill. she doesn't give a fuck, and she wants you to know it. most people either think she's the coolest damn person they've ever seen, or they think that she's 100% trying to be the coolest damn person they've ever seen. either way, mack doesn't care. she's literally never cared what other people think of her. why should she? it just leads to hurt feelings and complications, so mack just stays away from that shit.

so yeah, you probably get mackenzie now, but i'll do another brief summary in case you skimmed the first two paragraphs. mackenzie is someone who says and does whatever the hell she wants. she's got a bit of that disrespectful rebel side to her. smirks aren't just for bad boys you know. y'all should probably just watch out for her.

you'd expect mackenzie's backstory to be her excuse for why she's so weird, but it's not. no excuses here, just a normal family and a normal childhood. she ain't got a single bit of sob story to her name. mack was born to frank and linda brazwell, two well-meaning parents. she's the youngest child of three. above her in age are alex, her older brother, and penny, her older sister. the brazwells are a pretty basic family. they're not the closest bunch ever, but they love each other enough. both alex and penny are adults (each a few years older than the other) and they don't live in the family house anymore. alex is already married with a kiddo on the way and penny is living it up in college. that leaves just mackenzie and her parents living at home.

mack thought she'd live at home until she was eighteen. she thought wrong. something shifted midway through her senior year. her father got a job offer. a really damn good one, but the job was in canada. and that's great for him and all, but mackenzie didn't want to move to the middle of nowhere (sorry canada) that she knew nothing about. but there weren't many options. she couldn't live on her own in their house, so Mack's parents made a deal with her. she could stay in town and go to a boarding school (that they could now afford if her father took the new job) or she could uproot her life and move to god knows where in the land of maple syrup. i think you can guess which one kenzie chose. she's a little pissed about switching schools in the middle of senior year, but she'll deal with it.

okay, but this school is snobby and elite. it didn't really make sense for mack, a girl who was rebellious and literally didn't give a fuck, to be able to get in so easily in the middle of the year. but there's something you don't know about mack. she's super fucking smart. you wouldn't expect it of her, but school had always been easy for her. it was a breeze. numbers and facts just made sense in her brain. she aced tests without studying. it was pretty lit. mack didn't need to do things like cheat or have late assignments. this is why mack wants to be a lawyer. it just makes sense. corporate lawyers are bad asses that make a shit ton of money if they get in with the right firm. that was exactly what mackenzie was going to do. watch out private school, this random future rebellious lawyer is coming for you and i don't think you'll ever be ready for her.
