holymouse hopefully this is what you were looking for :)
This one is centred around Liam and Hayden's POV from the In Too Deep prologue, like rig her after it ends, so I'm hoping that it makes sense but idk because I wrote that a month ago

The winter air sent a comforting chill through his body, goosebumps rising on his back and arms. Liam's hand was warm though, as it was holding onto his girlfriends, but he wasn't even really paying attention to that because Katherine was on Brett's back and he was running through the snow with her and he didn't like it one bit.

She was smiling at him, her brown hair full of snowflakes and the outer corners of her eyes were crinkled as she laughed at something he said, and he couldn't help the bitter, angry resentment that filled him.

Liam knew that the entire situation had been his fault.

All of it.

After spending a semester completely in love with the girl he considered to be the other half of his existence, and who had only ever referred to him as a best friend, he couldn't even begin to comprehend why she would ever even consider having feelings for him. He could see her with a different person, all tall dark and handsome and everything he would never be.

Someone who didn't have problems handling their anger, or lash out with their feelings, potentially cause harm to those around him on a full moon...

Someone exactly like Brett.

For the longest time he'd been terrified that he was who Katherine would choose. The guy that was everything he was insecure about not being, so he didn't want to get his hopes up only to have them crush.

But it seems that he'd pushed them together.

"Do you think they're dating?" He asked quietly before even comprehending the question, jaw clenched.

Hayden glanced over at him. She'd been smiling at Mason and Cory, who were kicking snow at each other and grinning, cracking jokes that no one else would understand. "What?"

For a moment he bit down on his bottom lip, contemplating on whether or not he should continue. "Kat and Brett," he answered after a moment, blue eyes still narrowed on their happy-go-lucky figures.

He was running around under low hanging tree branches now, his smile only widening as each one dropped a pile of snow onto her. His heart lurched, hearing her laugh and squeal and screech mother of fuck that is cold as hell and right after and yelp of oh what the — literally Brett fuck you so much that went down my bra oh my god and as much as he loved hearing her laugh, the way she was clinging to his shoulders sent a sharp surge of jealousy through him.

It almost looked like she was a backpack on him and he didn't even appear to mind.

His heart sunk lower.

"I don't think they are," Hayden hummed, though he could feel her eyeing him weirdly. "I know Katherine said that he wants to go out with her, but she said she turned him down for now."

Liam's head snapped up. "He asked her out already?"

After one quick assessment of the chemo signals from the two of them — utter joy, humour, as well as patience on Bretts part — he felt something in him completely deflate. He barely even comprehended Hayden nodding as he closed his eyes, jaw tightening in order to keep himself calm.

"Yeah," she nodded slowly. He could see her eyes narrow. "He did, um, back in last semester."

"Fuck," Liam muttered. He used his free hand to rub his eyes, only glancing up at the sound of Hayden sighing and briefly tugging her hand out of his to move her hair from her face. "Is everything okay? You cold or something?"

She stared at him for a moment, as if she couldn't believe he didn't understand the problem, before simply sliding her hand back into his. "No, Liam," Hayden murmured. But she was watching Katherine and Brett too now, a rueful smile on her face. "Everything is perfectly fine."
