Ellie sprinted through the streets, heading back for the Lair. She and Vern had been rushed out when the alarm had been triggered and while Vern wanted to go back to the event he was previously at, Ellie, not really knowing where else to go, ran for the Lair.

Jumping down the manhole cover that was left open when they'd all left earlier, she continued her running through the sewers. Her cream knee-high boots splashed in the shallow puddles inside the sewers.

Seeing the archway which acted as one of the entrances to the Lair, Ellie ran through it but didn't stop moving until she was in the main area of the Lair.

Huffing, she placed her hands on her knees as she attempted to catch her breath. Remembering she still had her tweed jacket on, she pulled it off and tossed it over one of the yellow handrails that were scattered around the Lair.

Looking up she made eye contact with Splinter, the turtle's father as she remembered April briefly mentioning to her. "Um, hi" She huffed out awkwardly. He nodded back at her. "Tired?" He queried. Picking up that he was indicating at her huffing and puffing, she let out a small chuckle.

"Yeah, running in my heels, definitely not my finest decision" She confessed.

A small chuckle came from the elderly rat as Ellie scanned the Lair for her sister and everyone else. "Am I the first one back?" She asked and Splinter, again, nodded.

Reports then started coming through from somewhere, Splinter seeming to know where the sounds were coming from walked over to Donnie's desk which had many different computers and monitors set up.

Ellie walked over to the set-up and saw how Splinter seemed concerned with what he was hearing. "What's it saying?" She asked deciding not to beat around the bush. Not looking away from the screens in front of them he simply replied. "They've been spotted"

As Ellie was about to ask Splinter to elaborate on what he'd just said, the four brothers then came through into the main area and their father turned to them.

"It is all over the police scanner, they are hunting you, what happened up there?" Leo answered him first. "Tell him Raph, tell him how you broke rank and got us all exposed. For the most selfish reason" He snatched the purple ooze out of Raph's hand.

"The Foot were gonna get their hands on it" Raph tried to defend himself.

"You didn't know that" Leo argued back.

"Stealing from police headquarters. There's no scenario where you wouldn't get caught" Donnie interrupted the two eldest brothers briefly from their bickering.

Raph then directed his next blow at him. "Maybe if you hadn't lied to your own flesh and blood" Leo again snapped back at Raph. "Oh wait, the way you lied to April? And now she, Casey and Brooke are taking the fall for your mess" He countered Raph's previous statement.

The mention of her sister made Ellie turn to Leo and Raph. "What's he talking about?" She asked, hoping one of them, or anyone would explain. Raph slowly turned to face her. Seeing the look of concern and uncertainty of knowing what was happening to her sister was enough to soften his emotions, slightly.

Leo had seen his hot-headed brother's emotions flip in an instant since they were little kids. But it was usually from one angry feeling to another, rarely did he or anyone else see Raph do a complete one-eighty like this.

"April, Brooke and Casey are in police custody" He stated, deciding to not beat around the bush, even if Raph wanted to in order to spare Ellie's feelings. "What?" She asked worry dripping from her voice.

She turned to the red-clad terrapin. "Raph, what the hell happened?" She queried, looking up at him with her large doe brown eyes.

Raph stuttered over his words as he attempted to think of what he could possibly say to ease the poor girl. "I-I'm sorry' He mumbled before walking off, needing space away from everyone else to cool down properly.

Ellie could only watch as he walked off, his small apology doing very little to calm her nerves.

"You should've seen the looks on their faces" Mikey then spoke to Splinter. "They weren't just scared, there was... actual hate" He admitted.

Hearing that, Ellie turned towards the youngest brother. His expression was sombre, overly contrasting to the lighthearted one he had been wearing the last time she saw him.

"It will be alright my son, people fear what they do not understand" Splinter attempted to raise his son's spirits before following after Leonardo.

Stepping closer to the orange-clad terrapin, Ellie bent down so she was face to face with him. She flashed him a warm, comforting smile. "If it counts for anything, I think four are incredible" She uttered, delicately placing her small hand on Mikey's shoulder.

Bringing his blue eyes up to meet her dark brown ones, he seemed touched by her words. To know that someone, aside from April and Vern, could look past their appearance and instead see them for who they truly were.

The orange-branded turtle offered her a feeble smile. A sliver of his typically happy personality managed to shine through.

"Guys? I got something" Donnie suddenly announced. Mikey and Ellie stood up from their positions and walked over to his monitor setup. Raph rejoined them from wherever he had trudged off to.

Leo also raced back to them. "Talk to me, Donnie"

Donnie tapped several different keys on his keyboard while everyone huddled around him. "The computer's pinpointed the isotopic signature of the purple ooze" He affirmed. "I can track Bebop and Rocksteady's exact coordinates"

After completing a quick isotopic scan, the tracking signal for Bebop and Rocksteady was activated. "I got 'em. There at 36,000 feet, travelling at 490 knots" He declared, as the isotopic signature beeped over a flight path from New York to Brazil.

"Wow. They've achieved the power of flight! Good for them, you know" Mikey effused, seeming genuinely excited for the two felons.

"They're probably on a plane Mikey" Ellie chuckled at the youngest turtle's assumption. "It looks like our mutant buddies are headed to Brazil" Donnie added as he continued to type away on his keyboard.

"How do we get there?" Leo inquired.

"We sneak onto the next cargo plane from JFK" Donnie quickly concluded.

The four brothers began theorizing and planning. Ellie remained silent as they talked out different ideas, letting them figure out their plan to beat Bebop and Rocksteady to the final piece.

Quickly, they had a plan put together. There was a cargo plane leaving JFK in the next thirty minutes, meaning the four terrapins had to move fast in order to catch it if they hoped to catch up to Bebop and Rocksteady.

Just before they were about to take off, Raph and Ellie's eyes met for the first time since they had returned to the Lair. She offered him a tiny smile, despite his mood still being fairly on edge for some reason her timid smile seemed to soothe him slightly.

"W-What're you gonna do?" He inquired, drawing everyone's attention back to her.

Ellie shrugged. "Unless there's anything else you guys think I could do to help, I really doubt that there is anything more I can do. I'm sorry" She apologised for her lack of usefulness.

Mikey then wrapped his arm around her shoulders. "No worries Angelcakes" He reassured her. Seeing his warm smile Ellie couldn't help but smile back at him, she was also relieved to see his beatific attitude start to return.

Knowing that they didn't have much time before the plane they had to catch took off, Leo quickly ushered his brothers to get moving. An order his brothers did follow.

"Good luck" She called out as they ran out of the Lair. Being alone in the Lair once again, Ellie tried to think of what to do, since the others were still in police custody.

Meanwhile, back at the station, April, Casey and Brooke were being questioned by Chief Vincent on the turtles.

"They're not monsters, okay? The only real monster in this city is Shredder and the two mutants that he's created" April proclaimed. "Bebop and Rocksteady" Casey added, hoping to reiterate the same message that the turtles were not the enemy, not that Chief Vincent was listening.

"If you think anything coming out of your mouth is gonna add to her credibility, you are sorely mistaken" She spat back at him. Chief Vincent briefly glanced at Brooke to see if she had anything she wished to add but was met with nothing but a hollow glare.

Brooke had spent the entire time glaring at the Chief. Before the turtles had fled she'd caught a glimpse of Mikey with tears at his waterline. The sight alone made her furious and seeing his jokester persona crumble when he realised how most of the world saw him was enough to pull at her heartstrings.

April spoke up again. "Shredder mutated them with the help of Baxter Stockman. That's actually who you need to go see"

"Funny you should mention Dr Stockman because we just finished analyzing some security footage from TCRI that he gave us" Vincent grabbed the remote from behind her.

"Great" April shrugged.

"Guess who's on it" Vincent pressed one of the buttons on the remote, turning on the screen just behind April, Brooke and Casey.

The three rotated in their seats to watch the video that played on the screen, which showed security footage of April inside the TCRI building snatching a canister of the purple ooze before racing out of view of the camera.

"That's not what happened" April objected. "That footage has been altered, it's been edited" She elaborated, turning back to face Chief Vincent.

Chief Vincent shook her head. "We checked its authenticity. It's clean" She answered.

April sighed. "I want a phone call" She announced.

Vincent chuckled. "I hate to break it to you, but all the phones have been shut down on account of monsters breaking into our stationhouse" She snapped back.

At those words, Brooke finally spoke up. "Chief, I hate to break it to you, but legally she is entitled to at least one phone call" She stated, knowing fully well that the law was on their side for this matter.

"Tell me where they are" Vincent insisted, turning to the young girl.

Brooke shrugged. "I don't know. But then again if I did, why do you think I'd tell you" She pointed out, her expression not softening. Informing Vincent of where her allegiance lay.

"Chief, the turtles are not the ones you should be chasing" Casey then recited. "If you don't act now, you're just gonna end up kicking yourself later on when more people get hurt" He elaborated.

Vincent huffed. "Like how you two were when you lost three felons" She replied, her gaze bouncing between Brooke and Casey.

It was clear that she wanted to get a rise out of them with that comment. Brooke typically respected authority figures, but god did she never want to hit someone more than she did right now.

Inhaling a deep breath, Brooke kept her intrusive thoughts away. Instead, she focused on her breathing in an attempt to calm her, again, building anger.

More long hours of interrogating followed. Brooke wasn't even sure what the time was but no one gave an inch. Vincent still demanded to know the location of the turtles, while April, Brooke and Casey held their ground in insisting that they didn't know or would tell her.

"If you're gonna press charges, just press charges" April sighed.

"And you still owe her a phone call" Casey added.

Collecting a file from the table behind her Vincent disagreed. "I don't owe anybody anything until you tell me where those turtle things came from"

She headed for the door, clearly fed up with the three of them. Casey stood in front of her, halting her attempt to exit.

"Uh, New Hampshire" He sarcastically claimed.

Brooke stifled a laugh, her expression finally changing from a cold glare to a subtle smirk. "Wow," Vincent droned. "You're actually even a bigger loser than I thought" She avowed before knocking on the door, informing whoever was outside that she wanted to leave. Vincent continued to glare at him until she left the room, the door being slammed behind her.

"Don't worry about her, Casey. She's just trying to get under your skin" April countered Vincent's statement.

"Nah, she's right. Been hearing that my whole life" Casey replied. "You know, I've only ever really had one goal" He continued as he leaned against the table that rested just under the two-way mirror inside the interrogation room. "I wanted to make detective in the New York City Police Department" He stated.

Casey quickly continued. "I wanted to put criminals away, not just keep them in cages" Brooke and April listened attentively to him. "But working Corrections you do learn two good things. One, justice comes in all shapes and sizes" Casey said, his eyes averting over to Brooke as he spoke the final words of his sentence.

"And two, it's way easier to pick a cop's pocket than you might think" He proclaimed, pulling out Chief Vincent's phone from the back pocket of his jeans.

Grins spread across April and Brooke's faces simultaneously. Casey chucked the phone over to April, who easily caught the device. "Make your call"

April clicked in Vern's number before calling him.

She explained their current situation before asking him to find the proper, unedited footage of her in TCRI that featured Bebop and Rocksteady now as mutants. After some quick back and forth with Vern, April concluded the call by telling him to be the hero he was thought of by the entire city.

Finished with her call, April turned to Brooke and handed the phone to her. "You should probably call your sister" She affirmed.

Oh, shit.

In the hours that they had been in holding, it had completely slipped her mind that Ellie wasn't with her, actually, she wasn't sure where her sister could've been. Remembering that, Brooke dialled Ellie.

Following a few rings, Ellie's voice came through the receiver, confused as to who was calling her since Brooke was using Vincent's phone.

"Hello?"

"Ellie, it's me" Brooke announced.

Hearing her sister's voice, Ellie's mood changed drastically from uncertainty to relief. "Brooke? Oh my god, are you okay?" She asked.

Brooke reassured her. "I'm fine, where are you El?" She asked her older sister.

"I'm back at the Lair" Ellie admitted. "I wasn't sure where else to go, so I just came back down here" She explained.

Nodding, Brooke understood. She had figured that if Ellie hadn't gone back to the Lair she would've headed to their apartment. Deciding to cut straight to the point, Brooke spoke again to her sister through the receiver. "El, can you get back here?" She urged. Despite not being able to see her sister, Brooke knew that her request would've caused Ellie to raise her brows.

And she was right. On the other side of the line, Ellie now stood near the exit of the Lair. It was the most she had moved since she had been back down below the city.

"Y-Yeah, why?" Ellie questioned her sister.

"Let's just say when you get here, April, Casey and I'll be out of custody" Brooke replied, confidence present in her tone.

Ellie was about to press her to explain but Brooke then cut the call. Leaving Ellie with no choice but to trust the brief explanation her sister had given her

Approaching the doors of the NYPD headquarters, Ellie was surprised when Vern suddenly appeared next to her, also wanting to enter the station house.

"Mini Doe? What are you doing back here?" He instantly asked her.

"Uh, Brooke called me and told me to come back" She revealed. "What are you doing back here? I thought you went back to your event?" She then questioned Vern about his return.

He nodded at her assumption. "I did, but April O'Neil is a master of convincing so I'm back" He declared his reasoning for coming back.

Needing to say no more to one another, they, once again, entered headquarters together and headed for the front desk. At Vern's request to see Chief Vincent, one of the officers lead the duo up to the next level of the station house where Vincent was currently looking over files regarding Shredder.

Vern sauntered over to the blonde Chief, while Ellie held back. Looking around the busy room for her sister. And luckily for her, she didn't have to look for long until Brooke along with April and Casey walked into the room, now out of their holding cell.

The two sisters' eyes quickly met. Brooke rushed to greet her sister, tightly embracing her once she was close enough. Despite only being separated from each other for a few hours, the two girls embraced like they had been separated for months.

April and Casey exchanged nods with Ellie before they walked up to Vern and Vincent. The latter made his way over to Chief Vincent in order to return her stolen phone, while April thanked Vern for helping to prove that they were, in fact, telling the truth about Baxter Stockman mutating Bebop and Rocksteady.

Brooke and Ellie caught up to April, Casey and Vern. Before anyone could say anything, strange noises from outside caught not only their attention but everyone else in the room.

Rushing over to the large windows that covered one entire side of the building, April, Brooke, Casey, Ellie and Vern looked up just past some of the highrises to see clouds forming a circular motion in the sky.

Everyone in the precinct stood frozen at what they were seeing. Cracks of both thunder and flashes of lightning came from the dark cloud as they continued to form and grow.

The clouds continued in their circular motion when a sudden flash of light came from the centre of the clouds causing them to instantly vanish and a curved line that flashed white and blue took their place in the sky.

As civilians gazed up at the sky in confusion, large metal pieces began to come through from the strange line. Soaring high across the air, all of the components seemed to be constructing something as more parts quickly came through.

April walked over to Chief Vincent, who was still frozen at the window she was looking out.

"They can stop this," The reporter informed the blonde woman. Not needing to be specific since Vincent would know who she was referring to. "But you need to help them too" April urged.

Brooke, Casey, Ellie, Vern and the rest of the station waited for Chief Vincent's response. Vincent kept her gaze straight forward, but her eyes darted down. No longer looking at the portal, but instead thinking about April's plea.

Eventually, Vincent let out a long sigh, before turning to face April. "Alright, fine" She conceded.
