So, I decided to go over to her house.

I remember when I was about to knock on the door, I overheard screaming and shouting; it sounded like her parents were having a fight. I wasn't sure what to do; it didn't look like a good time. But I really wanted to talk to her so I just rang the bell and knocked anyway.

Her mother came to the door, her face was wet with tears, I had started to regret my decision and wanted to get out of there as soon as possible, but her mother just forced a smile and greeted me politely before calling for Mandy.

A couple of seconds later, Mandy came prancing downstairs and she stopped as soon as she saw me. 'Jonathan?' She had muttered, her voice was weary. I told her I wanted to talk, so we went for a walk.

I didn't want to waste time batting around the bush, so I was straightforward and asked her why she was avoiding me. She seemed pretty taken aback at my bluntness but after a short silence, she said that me starting to date had made her realize how dependent she was on me, it made her realise that she really needed to start handling things on her own. That made sense to me, so I accepted it; it wasn't like I was expecting her to admit her feelings for me right there and then.

We caught up and she updated me on her family drama and I told her about Eleanor - but I left out the part that the main reason I had broken things off, was because of her.

We had a really good talk and it felt great to be in her company again.

I walked her back to her house, but we could still hear her parents screaming at each other. She told me she couldn't bear being in that house for another second while they were going at it like that, so I took her back to mine.
