Semi and Een had been good friends since middle school.

Even after they went to different schools, the fact that they were neighbours made them see each other every single day.

Een had been in love with Semi from the very start; Semi needed a couple nudges from his friends Tendou and Reon, before he finally confessed, in their first year of high school.

And after a year and half of dating, they had moved in together.

Of course, Een had known that dealing with Semi could be a big pain, as Tendou had mentioned.

Because he was such a blunt person when it came to everything besides dating.

Semi loved going on outings, but he would never admit it out loud.

And when Een suggests an outdoor date, he would click his tongue and pretend to think a lot, before he'd say 'Well, if you want to go, I guess we have no other choice'.

Tendou found this annoying as hell, but of course, Een thought this was cute.

Well, who could blame her? She was in love with him after all.

And in the end of the day, Semi felt the same way, too.

Een would run all the way from Aoba Johsai, as fast as she could, tripping over her shoelace occasionally and tumbling to the ground like a lunatic. And then, she would run home, where Semi would be busy whipping up something for the two to eat.

On one such day, she runs in, and sees her boyfriend making a red coloured cake.

"Semisemi?" She calls, putting her shoes away.

"I told you not to call me that." He says with a frown, returning his attention the frosting he was whipping. He closes an eye when she kisses his cheek, and glances at the bowl he had in hand.

"But it's cute. Like you." She says, making the setter squint his eyes at her.

"Okay fine, fine. Red velvet cake?" She asks, running a hand through his soft blond hair. She notices that the tips of his hair had started to lose colour. We need a spa day soon, she thinks to herself.

Semi gives her a nod, and she goes to change from her uniform. When she comes back, she sees that he is sitting in front of the TV, two plates of cake set in front of the couch. She also notices the glasses of drinks he had poured, and she shoots him a suspicious glance.

"What's the occasion?"

"There's no occasion." Semi lies, puffing his face and taking a bite from the cake.

"Eita."

Semi's cheek becomes puffier, and he nervously glances at Een with a small scowl.

"C-Can't I make cake for my girlfriend if there's no occasion?" He protests when Een sits beside him on the sofa. She takes a bite out of the cake, her eyes shutting as she enjoyed the tender softness and slight sweetness of the cake.

"Eita." She repeats again, and the boy breathes out in defeat.

"Fine. You remember how I asked you to date me, right?"

Een's mind goes down to the night exactly two years ago, when he'd stood outside her porch, and told her that he wanted to date her.

And in the shock of that, she had closed the door in embarrassment, leaving the poor boy standing outside the porch, confused.

And Semi had, with trembling hands, taken out his phone to give Tendou an earful, thinking she didn't feel the same way.

But by then, Een had collected herself and stepped out, apologising and letting him know she felt the same way.

Why he would bring that up now, Een could only wonder.

"Yeah. Our anniversary is tomorrow, right?"

Semi furrows his eyebrows in frustration, rubbing the nape of his neck. He then glances at her with a desperate look on his face and sighs.

"It is. But I asked you to date me on this date. You replied after 12."

"Oh. Ohhhhhhhh." Een gasps, dramatically watching him with wide eyes.

"Ohh is right. We have two anniversaries. So shut up and eat it, dammit."

"Ohhhhhhhhhhh."

"For hell's sake, Een." Semi hisses, eating a big glob of his cake.

And even though he thought he had, he couldn't hide the small grin that was spreading on his face, the grin he was trying to hide by stuffing his face with cake.

He couldn't hide that he was in love with her, and it wasn't like he tried to, either.

Even though he had accepted his sports scholarship and went to Shiratorizawa, the never missed out on anything.

Because they cared about even the most minor details.

That was the way Semi and Een were, and they were happy together.

With all the little nothings that meant everything to each other.
