Clary

My mom and I left Jace's house at 10P.M. and I'm exausted. I slide out of my clothes and throw on a sweatshirt and some elastic shorts. I get under the covers and turn my light off. Within seconds of my head hitting the pillow, I'm sleeping.

Suddenly, I hear a noise and abruptly wake up. I listen and it seems to be coming from my window. I open it and find Jace? standing on the ground with pebbles in his hands. "Hey, can I come in?" Jace questions.

"Sure," I reply. I'm partially sleeping, so it takes me a second to realize Jace is climbing up my house. "Jace what are you doing? You're going to hurt yourself!"

"I thought we discussed playing later," Jace smiles. Yeah, that's right. While we were playing with Willow earlier. Jace is climbing through my window.

"I remember," I smile.

"I've actually got to tell you something first," Jace begins. "I lied about not having a present for you. I just wanted to give it to you right......" the midnight bell on the antique clock downstairs starts it's minute worth of chiming. "now." Jace hands me a box. I slip the ribbon off of it and lift the lid. I look back at Jace and he seems nervous.

"Love, I love you. I know I've made mistakes, and I'm going to spend every day trying to make up for them," Jace begins. "We've already promised not to leave eachother, so I though we should make it official. He peels a layer of tissue paper back and it's a promise ring.

"Jace, it's beautiful," I gasp.

"Clary, will you accept my promise ring?" Jace asks nervously. Like I would say no! Who in their right mind would say no?!

"Love, if you don't want to, it's okay. I just.....I thought.....but...I.....I get it.....I'm sor-" Jace begins.

I interrupt him my making our lips meet. It starts off slow, but I put all of my love into it. All of the things I can't put into words. Jace gives it right back. We stand there kissing until I have to breathe. I pull back. "Yes," I smile as soon as I can form words. "Yes, I'll accept your promise ring." Jace and I sit in my bed, and he puts the ring on my finger. "Thank you."

"Well of couse my love," Jace responds. "Do you really like it?I...it was my grandma's, and I didn't know if you'd like it. I mean it's old and all. Chloe always told me exactly what kind of ring she'd want, so I'd know if I ever wanted to get her one, not that I did. But, you don't really talk about it. I could get you something newer, if you would rather or-" Jace rants.

I peck his lips to get him to stop. "Yes Jace, I love it!" I exclaim. My mom is at work, so it doesn't really matter if I'm quiet.

"Good, I was a little worried," Jace sighs in relief. I simply laught at him.

"Oh, I almost forgot your gift," I say. I run to my dresser and grab his gift. "Open it please."

Jace carefully unwraps the gift. "It's a cd," Jace smiles.

"Do you not like it? I mean I could get you something else. I just thought," I babble.

"No, I love it," Jace assures me.

"I had a cd made of some songs we listened to on our unofficial song date thingy," I explain.

"That's makes it even better, thank you," Jace says. "You're so special, you know that." Jace gently places his hand on my cheek.

"I'm not really," I try to tell him. "I'm just normal."

"No you're not," Jace responds while gazing into my eyes. "You're amazing." I try to look away, but Jace grabs my chin gently, stopping me. He makes our eyes line up. "You. Are. Majestic." I don't know what to say, so we silently stare at eachother until Jace breaks the silence.

"Magnus and Alex are watching Willow until tomorrow afternoon. I'm all yours. Let's get some sleep," Jace says. I nod, and lay down, leaving a space for Jace to lay. He climbs in and holds me in his arms.

The Next Morning

I wake up and Jace is gone. He left? I thought we had all morning. Maybe something came up with Willow? Maybe he was having second thoughts? Maybe he doesn't want to actually be promised to me? Maybe I should just give him some time? Yeah, I'll give him time to see if he regrets his decision. I lay in bed trying not to cry for what feels like hours. I finally decide to get up to get some breakfast, aka ice cream. I wish my mom were here right now to talk to me about this, comfort me.
