Howdy ho, my children!

Did you miss my two boys? Well, I definetely did >w<
Argh, it's always a joy to draw Ruindir, always an experiment to draw Cevrond and always a heart warming drawing process, when drawing the two together.

Some of you now may remember this thing, that I drew at the end of july, last year sometime:

It was my more or less first attempt at drawing the two together during their trainee-years. I planned on drawing one of those for every training-century to portray their growing bromance and how they slowly start their second puberty and all that, but abandoned the concept after forgetting that I wanted to actually do this.

Then at the beginning of this year, I went ahead and drew four of my children, during their training years, using that first drawing as a reference for the clothing and ever since I made these, I've been wanting to redraw that pic with Ru and Cev...

Aaannndd.... since I was feeling crap one weekend at boarding school, I decided to just go ahead and make a small and messy redraw, that ended up being less small and less messy than I initially intended kskskskskksksksks

I looked around for some poses and gathered ideas on pinterest, ending up with a pose that's awfully similar to the one I used for that other drawing of the two I made in.... uh... april.... i think.... either way, the pose is pretty similar, but reversed, and I had a lot of fun with their height-difference >w<

Then the lineart came along. I started with Cev, since I already drew him as a trainee, and generally just struggle all the time with his face, whilst I got Ruindirs features all figured out by now >w<

Essentially I was going for a bit of an older version of the two, where they're probably real good friends already, and Ruith is long dead. So Ruindir's acne is starting to go wild, whilst Cev is still figuring out a shaving routine, because he's lazy but also doesn't want to have patchy facial hair everywhere.

For the expressions, Ru was obliged to look rather depressed, bc he's the "tiny rich-kid with a 24/7 frown" and Cev had to have a smile, as though he was trying to cheer his bud up..... again.... without success.....

At this point I also want to mention how much I struggled with the hands.... not because I had a bad hand day or so, but simply because I KEPT DRAWING THEM THE WRONG WAY AROUND. I SWEAR, CEV HAD TWO LEFT HANDS SO OFTEN I JUST... dgajaherwtiljf

So yeah..... struggle was real....

Nothing special when it comes to the flat colours, except that I'm currently working on reworking all the royal tattoos.... they just got way to complicated to draw every time and just became too detailed and fine, so.... yeah.... NEW TATTS! YET AGAIN!

And.... uh.... dang, I never know what to say about the shading. I had fun. It was nice. Light source is coming from the top right..... uh..... I hate shading trousers..... Cevs smile is kinda adorable.....  >>pats ruindir<<

Haha.... that ended a bit very chaotic right there.... either way, I plan on drawing the two of them more often, especially since Cev has a proper design now and I am able to draw the same face several times and from the same angle!

So look forward to some Ru and Cev pictures.... and some more mini-comics..... yeah wanna draw more of those....
