either way, for the artfight, i and NiiBloodmoon teamed up and created a collab-piece, since we were in the same team >w<

basically they made the animal characters we wanted to get in there, as well as the background, and i added the human characters, as well as the shading (to make it more cohesive in the end, ya know?)

anyways, Nii, being the incredibly talented and skilled artist that they are, went ahead and whipped up this, which would be the end of their work and the beginning of mine:

already, i was completely blown away by what i saw. i mean...

HOLY SHIT, JUST LOOK AT IT!!!!!

and ngl... i was absolutely terrified, that i was gonna fuck this up... but then again: digital art is a saving grace when it comes to moments like these.
So basically I just copied the document, just to be safe, and doodled my ideas in there.

essentially we all had this headcanon, that we're in some fun arena-thingy, with paintball-guns, -grenades, etc. and Mith even wrote some story-snippets, whenever someone made an attack ^-^
SO... nothing could stop me and nii from just straight up going from artfight, to art-warfare.

so yeah! after i had a rough idea of what i was gonna do, i started with the front two characters, which would be used as framing devices, as well as some sort of context givers.

since i was in the middle of planning out the comic-attacks here, i also decided to insert some speech bubbles, so this could kinda also function as the grand comic-finale??? idk... that plan failed, but it does look hella cool, either way >w<"

shading was pretty basic. they are up front, so i decided to go with something dark with dramatic rimlights, to set them apart from the very bright mid- and background.

After those were done, i continued with the other characters in the midground, focusing mainly on the smaller ones, since i was tired and was kinda nervous >w<""

I also added a bit more of a reddish-orange glow to the sky and gave the buildings n stuff some basic shading.

And well... after that, the finish line was in view, so I powered through, putting some extra dust in there, paintballs? more like paintBOMBS, better composition of everything, adding my persona and shading everything, etc.

yeah... anyways, here's the end result!

and... welll.... since wattys quality is amazing (as we all know) and the midground characters all are a bit small... here are some close-ups >w<

either way, this was an absolutely amazing project. nii really did an AMAZING job with their part, and even though i was worried about fucking it up, i ended up with something that we can be proud of.
dang... i should collab with people more often, this was hella fun!
