"Oh, shit!", Del gasped as JD grabbed him by the collar and pulled him back into a safe corner. "Worst timing ever!"

"You don't say!", JD smirked and threw a shock grenade into the Swarm to win time for reloading his gun. "Why now? We're so close."

Across the room, Kait jumped behind a barrel and pulled her head in while Fahz was shielding her with open fire.

"That's an omen!", he joked with a broad grin.

"How?!", JD asked and pulled his head in to shoot around the corner he was squatting in.

The sound of gullets filled his ears, mixed with the screaming and growling of the creatures that were slowly crawling towards them.

"The universes doesn't want you to be with that little birdie!", Fahz laughed. "Should be my catch. I'm the handsome one!"

"Ha! Just for the record, I'm the handsome one!"

Del frowned.

"And all the time I thought I was the handsome one!", he objected.

"Oh, boy...", Kait rolled her eyes and aimed at a metal chain.

As her bullets caused it to snap with a loud screech, the heavy steel pole it was holding came crushing down and buried a hand full of the threat underneath dust and rubble.

"This is our chance!", she shouted and rushed to the emergency exit. "Everyone, run! Now!"

Agreeing, the three men jumped over to her, one after another following her.

JD was the one left behind. With well aimed shots, he ensured that nothing would follow unless it was himself.

All of a sudden, a snatcher came out of nowhere and wiped him off his feet.

Struck by surprise, JD lost footing and fell into the sand.

Long tentacles wrapped around his legs. With one strong tug, the creature threatened to swallow him in one bite. As he was dragged through the dirt, a sharp stone cut his cheek, causing a thin trail of blood to gush out.

The snatchers stomach opened, revealing a pouch of tentacles and strangely slimy insides.

But before JD could be shredded to pieces, Del jumped out of the door and cut the snatchers head off.

Huffing and fighting back a wave of disgust, JD kicked the twitching tentacles away.

"Thanks man...", he gasped in relief and touched the cut on his cheek. "Don't tell (Y/N)."

With a grin, Del offered him a hand to get him back on his feet.

"My lips are sealed.", he assured. "Now let's go. We're behind."

Quickly, the two chased after the others who were already waiting in the main hall. The satellites were docked to the train, ready to depart so that Paduk and you could take care of the rest. Luckily, the old rail tracks were still in decent condition and everything worked just fine.

Things were going smooth, JD thought. A bit too smooth.

"Uh, guys?", Fahz glanced around a corner before walking out onto the metal balcony that was stretching across the satellite. "We've got company."

"Ugh!", JD rolled his eyes. "Get the train moving! We need to shake them off."

Pulling a face, Kait shot a Juvie that was about to climb the train on which the satellites were secured for transportation.

"Del! Get Jack and make this train move!", she turned to Fahz. "And you keep shooting. I'll check if everything is strapped on tight."

Nodding in agreement, Fahz and JD squatted behind a barrier to prevent the screaming enemies from approaching any further. Their clicking and scratching sounds filled the hall, while the sounds of bullets mixed into it.

"Bloody hell!", Fahz huffed as the ground suddenly started to move. "What's this?!"

"The train's moving!", Del informed and ran up to them to help out at the front line.

"Keep them back!", Kait shouted as she chased across the top of the satellite. "The exit is near! If we make it out, we'll be fine."

With bated breath, JD kicked one of the monsters of the train and shot another in the head before they could drag him down and break every bone inside his body.

"We're trying!", he shouted back and grabbed Fahz by the collar to prevent him from loosing balance.

"Things are a bit rough back here!", Del joked and had to pull his head in to avoid getting it cut off. "JD, lend me a hand!"

"On it! Fahz, watch my back!"

"I'm trying!", with a well aimed shot, Fahz pierced the legs of a monster and made it fall.

With a scream, it tried to snatch JD while he walked past it, but eared another bullet to the head.

Huffing, JD threw himself to the ground, next to Del. Jack beeped, excited and a little too energetic.

"What's the plan?", JD asked, wiping a thin trail of blood from his cheek.

Del pointed up.

"You see this?", he asked and pointed to the ceiling.

A thin layer of sweat was shimmering on his forehead. His breath was quick.

Large beams made of steel stretched across the tunnel. The train was picking up speed, causing the walls to shake and sand to rain down on them.

"Looks unstable.", JD noted with a worried look.

Del hummed.

"That's what I thought. We need to break one of these and everything behind us is collapsing. That's how we will get away."

"And you thing this is safe?"

"No. But I'm pretty sure it'll work."

"Will we die?"

With his lips pressed together, Del eyed the ceiling for a moment.

"I think not.", he finally said.

"You think?"

"Yes. I think."

"Are you serious?"

"Look, it's either the ceiling or the monsters, okay. Give me all the grenades you have. You got explosives?"

"Wait...", JD searched his pockets and gathered all the stuff that could be of use to give it to Del. "Don't kill us, okay?"

With a shrug, Del started taping everything into a big ball.

"Jack!", he passed the robot the mess he had fabricated. "Put it on one of the beams!"

Beeping, Jack rose into the air and tugged everything away. As he was finished, he retuned and pointed one of his little arms at the thing.

"Keep your head down.", Del said and pulled his own in. "He's going to shoot it with heat!"
