Neil checked his phone for the hearing schedules of Avni. He called the driver and reminded him to pick her up on time. He always keeps track of Avni. Her being a lawyer and Neil as the Commissioner, he believes they will be highly attracted by the public. Hence Neil tries to be as cautious as possible.

Avni sighed and dropped into the chair, once she entered her cabin. She has two hearings back to back which lasted for five hours in total. She quickly dialed home to check on Marshall and Sophia. Bhima answered and informed that Prakash had gone to pick up Marshall from school and Sophia was with Bebe. Avni asked her to give them lunch on time and hurried back to work.

"Ma'am?" A secretary knocked on Avni's cabin door. "Come in. Yes?" She replied, her eyes still glued to the screen of her laptop. "I'll just leave it here.." the secretary said hesitantly. "Yeah.." Avni mumbled, and she left. After typing up the last lines, Avni saved the document and stretched her body. She then noticed the newspaper on her desk. "Why did she bring in this?" Avni wondered and took the paper. Her eyes widened in shock! She quickly skimmed through the news "N..Neil.." the paper slipped from her hands. Avni was froze in her posture for a while and suddenly she jumped to her feet. Avni grabbed her bag and suit and hurried to leave. "Ma'am, Mr. Sinha—." "Cancel all my meetings for the day. I've got something to attend urgently, okay?" Avni instructed her assistant and hurried to exit. The media was already starting to crowd up outside her office. "Ma'am, where are you leaving to?" The driver hurried to her and inquired. Avni made a quick plan in her mind, to escape from the Media's eyes. "I'm going to see Neil, I'll grab a cab so that they won't notice me. You can follow me to the Police Station in the car, alright?" "But Ma'am, Sir refused to--" "No, please follow me in this." Avni didn't wait for his response and got into the Cab.

"Ma'am?" The Constable at the entrance got up from his seat as Avni entered. "Can I see Neil?" She inquired. "Sir is on a phone call. But--" Avni didn't let him continue. She rushed inside to Neil's cabin. "Why don't you wait for a while.... Avni?" Neil's eyes shot to her as Avni appeared at the door. "Mommy's here Marshi, We'll bring your storybooks when we come home, okay?" Neil smiled wide as he heard Marshall's cheerful voice on the other end. "Marshall is complaining cuz your number was busy. Why was it so busy today after the hearings? Did--" His sentence broke as he looked at Avni, who was froze in her posture, her eyes welled up. "Avni.. What happened?" Neil was about to get up from his seat but Avni made a move. Her steps were fierce. Avni took her phone from her bag and kept it on Neil's table. There was a call incoming from one of the Medias. It kept on ringing, one after the other. One Media, followed by the other. "What is happening?" Neil looked at Avni, his eyes wide in shock. "You tell me what is going on?" Her voice was loud, even to Avni's surprise. "What do you mean-" "Had you wanted this to happen, you could have said it to me directly. I am your wife goddamnit! we live under the same roof, yet you can't even discuss or give me some heads up before doing all this?" Avni continued to say. "What are you saying? What did I do?!" Neil got up from his seat. Avni took the newspaper from her bag and threw it on his desk. Neil's eyes quickly darted to the front cover. His eyes widened in shock!

Neil's eyes shot to Avni, tears streaming down her cheeks. "Avni, I didnt-." "No Neil! Read it, Mumbai Police had briefed to the Media.. How could you.." Her voice trailed off. She have never been so hurt. She saw the dead baby, the wounds all over her body.. and she was now a suspect? Avni's phone started to buzz again, waking her out of thoughts. Avni rubbed off the tears from her cheek and grabbed her bag to leave. "Avni! Listen to me.." Neil went after her, but Avni didnt listen to her. She strolled at the same speed and got into a cab.

Neil tried calling to Avni, but later he found that she had left her phone at his cabin. It kept on buzzing non-stop, calls from media and clients. Neil tried to go home early but it was dinner time by the time he reached. Marshall and Sophia were seated at the table, no one else was in sight. Neil quickly removed his hat, before Marshall was afraid of it, and now Sophia is. "Mommy didn't even bring my stickers, how do I finish my science work.." Neil and Avni, who came from the kitchen with Sophia's food, both heard Marshall say. Avni kept the plate on the table and knelt beside Marshall. "I'm sorry.. I just..forgot. I'll bring it after dinner and we'll finish up your work, okay?" Marshall gave a little smile and nodded. "Don't want food, Mommy.." Sophia cried. "You said you wanted pasta, so Mommy made it for you." Avni was upset now. "No, I don't want it anymore.." "Sophie, you'll feel awwee in your stomach if you don't eat.." Neil dragged a chair and sat next to Sophia's highchair. Avni tried to show up a spoon to her mouth but Sophia pushed it away, making all the food fall on to the floor. "Sophia!" Avni exclaimed. "You've both behaved really bad today, first painted on the bedsheets and now this.. non of you listens to Mommy anymore.." Her voice broke. "Avni.." Neil tried to console her but Avni just walked away. Both the kids were silent now. Neil let out a sigh. "Finish your food Marshi. Sophie, Mommy will be sad if you don't eat. Come, lets eat with Daddy.." Sophia didn't refuse this time, she ate while Neil fed her. Attorney Avni Khanna being labeled as a suspect of the toddler's rape case, has been the breaking news of the day! All of their heads darted to the Television. A news channel was bringing up the headline as the breaking news, with Avni's picture. "That's Mommy! Daddy thats Mommy!" Sophia exclaimed as she did not understand what really was going on. "Mommy, when did you go to the TV?!" Marshall asked and Neil turned around. Avni stood there with Sophia's bottle of water, her eyes glued to the TV. This, my beloved citizens prove how loyal of an officer Commissioner Khanna is! He proved that Law is equal before everyone! Neil felt as if someone squished his heart out. Marshall repeated his question again. "I didn't go. Now finish up your food if you want to complete your homework. Dadu will bring your stickers." Avni told Marshall and headed upstairs. 

Avni was changing the sheets of the Kid's beds when Neil walked in. His phone rang just then. "Hello?" "Hi Neil. Nisha here. Avni isn't answering her phone... but I need to pass her a message." An Attorney from Avni's law firm was at the other end. "yeah?" "um, please tell her our two clients from Dubai and the other one from France has taken back their cases... um, you know, because of today's events.." Neil didn't know how to respond. The media has interpreted his words so badly! "Avni.." His voice brought a halt to Avni's work, but she continued again. "Avni please. You are misunderstanding me!" Neil grabbed her hand from behind and turned her towards him. "I am misunderstanding? Neil the news says it clear, police has provided them with the list of suspects! and I'm.. I'm one of them..." Avni could not speak, she sobbed out loud, not able to put out the words. "I know. But I just mentioned your staff having the possibility of being suspected, thats it. Avni... You are a lawyer. You know that all this works to every corner of the crime scene. There can be several suspects but it does not mean that all of them are guilty.." Neil grabbed her arms more tightly. "So you are saying, me, being labeled as the top suspect and my photo being published as a breaking news is still okay? No, thank you! I don't need your this kind of help to gain a fame!" With that, she left the room, while Neil was at the same posture, a shock had taken over him.
