She was determined.

Fiona needed that advantage. Sure, she might be able to get out on her own, but whatever the advantage was it must help her in some way. It just must.

Fiona was finally glad that she could run so fast, the games had shown her how useful it could be. Like after the cornucopia and Zeon was chasing her, when she was running away from the sinkhole, and now, scouting for an advantage. It was like her token, except it was something that she would always have with her.

As she gained speed, she noticed something; the distant sounds of waves crashing against a shore, and seagulls cawing. That's when she had a thought; The water! Why didn't I think of it before?

In her mind, it was the perfect spot to rest. But that wasn't it. It was also the one place that she hadn't check. Maybe it slipped her mind, or she just got distracted, but Fiona felt stupid as she made her way towards the sounds.

It took only a few minutes to get there, for she was closer that she thought to the shore. Luckily, she was the only person there. It was a surprise, actually, because you would think it would be the most popular spot in the games. But she had to hurry, just in case someone would show up. So, she started on the edge. She felt the waves smack her ankles as she dug through the sand, looking for something that might resemble a package.

Come on, come on.

Nothing.

Then, right when she searched the whole shore, she saw something. As she looked at the sky, there was a bird, a seagull to be exact, flying towards the edge of the forest. It flew to a mini nest on the ground, joining another bird. At that moment, Fiona was glad she looked up. Because that was the fifth time the bird had flown down there.

Fiona scrambled up from the sand, and ran toward the trees, where the birds lay. She sat down next to it and shooed the birds away, who luckily flew away quite easily. She reached her hands into the nest, and smiled giddily. In her hands she held a large, camouflaged container with the Panem symbol on it. She laughed.

Yes!

She unscrewed the lid and inside, found a loaf of bread. She was initially disappointed that it wasn't something more, but at the same time was also delighted to finally have something to eat. She tore it from it's packaging and ate a big chunk of it.

Now, most people would say that, by first impression, that she was smart and deserves to be the winner because of that fact that she obtained the item that the gamemakers promised would help decide, or influence, who becomes the victor. And the gamemakers did keep their promise, because it did decide if Fiona would be victor.

But definitely not in a positive way.

As Fiona swallowed the food, she discovered something. The inside of the loaf was wet, and when she touched it she knew almost instantly that it wasn't water.

The Capitol might be evil, but they are also smart. But at that moment, Fiona wasn't. She let pride get to her, not noticing the label at the bottom of the inside of the container, a label warning her not to eat it.

And soon, The Capitol had what to desired; the answer to their test. Fiona would not become the victor of the 54th Annual Hunger Games.

They had been walking for hours, waiting for something, anything. But all they could find was dirt, trees, and no tributes.

Zane and Amethyst were starting to get anxious. What if it was already gone, what if someone else already found it? That was something they wished wasn't true, for then they walked that whole day for nothing. Even when it started to get extra windy, they kept walking. Amethyst tried to persuade Zane to stop, but every time that happened, she reminded him that the object could be taken in that time. Exhausted, Zane sighed reluctantly as he trudged on.

"I'm sure someone's already found it by now," Zane said.  "we've had almost a day to look."

"First off, it's only been a few hours," replied Amethyst. "so it could easily still be here, and second, you really want to give up? After how hard we've worked to get here?"

"You mean in the games? I don't think that was our choice, and even if we've had training, I still wouldn't want to play."

"You know what I mean." Amethyst almost felt like rolling her eyes, but caught herself. She realized she was being sarcastic a lot lately, and didn't stop to think about how it might affect Kelvin and Zane's view on her, but it's something that happened to her. Whenever she got stressed, she started to act smart and sarcastic, even if she didn't mean to.

That's when the canon went off.

"Oh no," Amethyst whispered.

"This isn't good."

"Zane, they've found it," She said. "It's gone."

"How do you know?"

"I can tell, something just fells... missing."

He looked her in the eyes. "And if it is," He said. "we've gotta do something. Something to make us win."

"Like what?" Amethyst snapped, her voice shaky. "Nothing we've tried seems to be working! Looking for food didn't work, looking for the object didn't work, nothing! Kelvin died because of our plans, and I don't want you to be next!" She took a deep breath, attempting to calm down.

"I won't," said Zane. "and you won't either. Those are in the past now."

Zane took a stone from the ground, and placed it in his hand, showing her. "There's one more thing that we could try." He sat down next to her, and started drawing.

"Skya definitely isn't at the cornucopia; she might have been killed, but even if she is still alive then she wouldn't be camping out there. And I don't think Fiona is either. So, we go to the cornucopia for supplies." Zane drew a rough circle on the dirt, representing the cornucopia. "We'll see if we can use anything there to set a trap."

"What kind of trap?" Amethyst asked, curiously.

"I...don't know. It kind of depends on what's there."

"Improvisation, I like it," Amethyst remarked. It's what she's best at, making the most out of a situation. It has kind of been what she had been doing the whole games.

"But how are we going to get someone to come?"

"That part's easy. We set a fire." Amethyst picked up a stone as well and drew a dotted line from the cornucopia to another spot, where she drew a few squiggly lines. "The smoke will attract Fiona or Skya, and, we fire."

They stood up. They were ready. Both of them grabbed their weapons, and started running in the direction they thought was the cornucopia, full of adrenaline from what they have planned.
