"I'm telling, ya, now's the best time." Cole stood, arguing with Jess, leg fully healed.

"I still don't know," said Jess. "wouldn't they expect it?"

"Same as they would in the morning," said Cole. "plus, the more we wait the more time is wasted."

"So are we going or not?!" Skya exclaimed. She wasn't one to bud in on arguments, but this one was getting on her last nerve.

"Fine, we're going," Jess agreed reluctantly. Cole stood, happy.

"Take you're best supplies, we may not be coming back," said Cole.

"You're making it hard to agree with you," Jess said sarcastically. Cole snickered as he grabbed a spear, Skya grabbing a sword, and Diandra reluctantly grabbing a knife. Jess took a curves axe and added a knife to her belt. Diandra looked Skya in the eye, scared. Skya touched Diandra's arm, reassuringly, and she showed her the best she could at a smile.

Cole started walking forward and beyond the cornucopia, but stopped as an arrow came hurling at his head. Diandra gasped, and gripped her knife tighter. Jess ran up to Cole, looking at the boy from District Seven.

Zeon aimed his next arrow at Jess, as he had made many more homemade ones in the woods so he wasn't afraid to run out. Jess moved to the side, and Cole threw his spear at Zeon.

Skya and Diandra stood still, but then Skya said, "Stay back," and ran up to join the fight. Diandra scowled, and got her knife into position.

All of the other careers fought, either with weapons or without, and Skya knew to aim her sword carefully. Zeon kept his end goal in mind, and kept firing arrows, and when Skya aimed for Zeon, he shot her right on the edge of her arm.

Skya groaned, but got back up. She took her sword and swung at Zeon. Zeon moved around it and shot at Skya again. He wasn't on aim, and Skya dodged it almost naturally, and started to walk back. That's when Cole took his spear threw it into Zeon's side. Zeon croaked, falling down onto his side, and a canon boomed.

"Skya," said a small voice Skya knew as Diandra's. She turned to see the small girl holding her chest, falling. Worry went across Skya's face as she ran over to her and pulled out the arrow that missed Skya that she now thought wasn't aimed for her.

She held Diandra on her lap as a tear went down Skya's face. Diandra raised her hand, and wiped it off Skya's face. Skya was panicking.

"You're gonna win, Skya," She said weakly. "You will win." She said it like it was no big deal, what had happened, and for the first time in the games, actually formed a small smile. It seemed easy for her as Skya held the girl's hand into hers. Diandra liked the reinforcement, and it almost made her forget about Zeon. Skya saw her brown eyes start to close. A tear from her face fell into Diandra's, forming a small puddle on her cheek that reminded her of blush. The canon went off.

Cole stared. He didn't know what to think. District 1 had no more living tributes, and only three careers remained, less than he thought would be left at this point.

Skya stood up, backing up from Diandra, still crying. She ran over to Zeon's body and took his bow and arrow out of his hand. Angrily, she loaded an arrow and fired it randomly among the arena. She hadn't known if it had hit anything, neither did she care. She just had to throw it, knowing that that could be her biggest mistake.

The hovercraft came soon, picking up both the bodies of Zeon and Diandra. Skya holds the bow and arrow left by Zeon by her side, making sure to keep it for a while. She also took the arrows that were held in Zeon's holster so that she had extra load. She watched both bodies being lifted up into the white machine and held back even more tears.

"Three careers left," said Jess. She sighed, breaking the tension. "we should go hunt."

Cole and Skya nodded. Cole knew that the careers weren't going last long, but Skya knew that she would partly cause that once they left.

"Chancey, when are you going to come back from that edge?" Joel was waiting inside his fort, drinking clean water. The allies had gotten a sponsor after they ran into Lee and almost took her down, then disappointed when she got back up and outran them, but apparently that was enough for the sponsors.

"No!" said Chancey. "I swear I saw someone else out there." She had thought she did, or something that ran right past their cave.

"You have been doing this for hours!" He complained.

"Yeah, while you have been being lazy instead of helping me. Plus, I did see Fiona."

"She got away," He said sarcastically.

"I say we attack Alexsandr," Chancey said, ignoring Joel's comment. She stepped back from the edge and went back into the tent, and started to grab the spear they had found, but Joel grabbed her wrist, pulling back her sleeve, revealing a bracelet held together by thin strands of twine. Chancey yanked her hand back, pulling her sleeve back over her arm. Joel gave her pitiful eyes.

"I know, I miss her too," He said, referring to Angel, the girl back home whom they were friends with. Angel had given that bracelet to her for her birthday, and Chancey couldn't help but bring it as her token.

She gave him sad eyes. "Don't remind me, I have my sleeve up for a reason." There was a silence. "Should we go hunting tonight? Or just Alexsandr?"

Joel shook his head. "He might as well be dead."

"Which is why he's the perfect target."

"Chancey, I don't like doing this," he said. "You know I don't."

"But if any one of us is to get back we can't just sit here and wait."

That's when they heard the canon boom. They looked at each other, nervous, but they both knew that it was going to happen sometime. And when the second one sounded, Joel said, "they'll destroy themselves alone."

***

Ren had found the forcefield.

Fiona didn't know whether to be excited or worried, considering she knew where it was, but also that it was almost impossible to spot before you hit it. She thought of leaving a trail of leaves or something to mark the edge, but again, was worried about hitting it.

She decided to find fresh water somewhere, still tired from thirst. She didn't know how she could survive any longer, or if any other tribute could. Probably one had died from it at that point, or surely one would.

Fiona bent down and picked up a rock, running forward and chucking it at the edge of the ocean angrily. She didn't know how, but it actually fell into electricity, landing where Ren's body used to be. But it made a sound, and she cringed. That gave her away. She bent down, begging that nobody saw her.

She knew where the forcefield started, it was right next to the tall tree near the forest, and that was just the marker she needed to stay alive. Soon, she saw a peak of blonde hair peak out from a cave and started running backwards. She couldn't be spotted, and the ocean was the worst place to be if that's what she wanted.

She ran back into the woods, pushing leaves away from her face. Her shoes were started to get worn, and she was getting thinner by the moment, which was different because she had always been a little bigger than everyone else. After running far enough away, she heard two canons, a minute apart each.

And then her eyes saw it. An arrow flying directly beside her.

Where it came from, she didn't know. What she did know though was, considering how close it was, she had been spotted.

She panicked. She had managed to avoid almost everybody in the games, but she didn't know how much more she could deal with hiding away, frightened. She she kept running, ignoring the hovercraft that she saw fly above the trees. She thought about everything, how her speed and quick thinking might help her, and how she might return. But if she returned then what? She didn't have anything, not like her parents cared about her.

Thoughts raced around her head when she fell. She was panting, sweating, half crying and groaning. Without water, there was no way she could go on. No way.

She held onto a tree, still groaning when the tune sounded in her ear. She opened her eyes to see a silver container stuck in the branches of the tree. Her heart jumped as she stood up and started to climb. She pulled the container from the tree, screwing off the lid. A small bottle filled with liquid stood there. Her heart skipped a beat, taking off the top to the bottle and taking small sips of water.

She smiled as it hit her dry lips, going down her throat. It was perfect. She hadn't died. Once she took the bottle out of the container, she set the bottle on the ground and plucked a flower from the ground, which soon turned into twenty. She placed them all in the container and left them, where she then slept next to them.

"Goodnight, Via," She said. She rubbed the flowers that reminded her of her deceased sister, and closed her eyes, drifting off into sleep.
