  Police chief's  POV:

I  heard the sound that I dreaded most.

It was the alert that a homicide had taken place.

I had not dealt with one of those in years.

   It was nasty business.

I  wondered who it was this time.

I supposed it was a simple case.

Little did I know how complicated it actually would be for me.

I was called to a nice quaint little neighborhood and wondered if the dispatcher made a mistake.

It was Keller's address.

Sure everyone knew the couple there hardly got along.

Everyone also knew they had two daughters.   Twins, if I was not mistaken.

I  approached the place like I would any other crime scene.

On the outside, it did not look that bad.

The shutters looked freshly painted, the flowers looked nice, and the lawn appeared to be recently mowed.

I thought the neighbor who called must have misunderstood.

Perhaps, it was just the television they had heard.

It was 5:45 am.  It was not like many people were up at that hour.

I  was grateful my K-9 was with me along with my business partner.

I never could be too careful.

Not even on cases like this one.

Cases that appeared to be in the bag.

I entered the house through the front door.

I was not sure what to expect.

I  saw the kitchen had few dishes in the sink. Other than that it looked fine.

I  walked over to the next room.

 It was neat as well.

Then, I entered the living room.

 What on earth?

I saw it was in shambles.

The sofa was ruined.

The back door busted in, and handprints were all over it.

I noticed the wall near the door had a few blood smudges on it too as well as what looked like the start of a small sentence.

Hmm, by the looks of it someone definitely died.

The question was who?  Whom had taken their lives?  Why?  How many were among the survivors?
