Musicals.
Musicals have always been
My greatest pleasure.

I can think of no greater thrill
Than belting that high note
In The Phantom of the Opera.

It's odd.
My favorite musicals
Are mostly unknown.

Maybe
It's because I
Am mostly unknown.

My two favorite musicals,
In some strange way,
Are a bit like Kate and me.

The first,
A Tale of Two Cities,
Powerful and dramatic.

It has such an incredible story to tell.
But no one listens to it.
No one knows its name.

The second,
The Phantom of The Opera,
Equally powerful and dramatic.

It has such an incredible story to tell.
And everyone listens to it.
Everyone knows its name.

Even if you don't love Phantom,
Even if you don't love musicals,
No one can actually dislike phantom.
And even if you do
Even if you don't understand its popularity,
At least you've heard of it.

I've never heard anyone say
They didn't like A Tale of two Cities.
The musical version at least.

But maybe,
That's just because,
Not enough people take the time to know it.

It's funny.
One musical known by all.
One known by none.

But they aren't that different.
Even in their plot.
Both a man deemed unlovable.

They both fall for a woman,
Who's pure and loving.
A woman like Kate.

Both men watch
As their love,
Marries another.

Both give up their happiness For her's.
Letting her stay with the man she loves,
Instead of with him.

I've been told it's odd
That all my favorite shows
Are the ones that end in heartbreak.
