      "Kris...please."

Kris held onto Ralsei and wept his eyes out, he couldn't let Ralsei die. He had been there for him, for everything. He'd been his best friend, his most trusted companion, and the one person who truly loved him.

     "I'M NOT LETTING YOU GO!"

"Kris, you have to leave. I don't want you to get bit, too."

"I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT YOU, RALSEI! I WANT TO DIE WITH YOU!"

"Kris, please! I'm not going to let you die!" Ralsei cried. His fur began to shrivel up like a dead plant; the process was already happening. "Kris, please, you have to go!"

"I'M NOT LEAVING YOU! I CAN'T!" Kris screamed, hugging Ralsei tightly. The mess of sadness and sheer pain could have put every other movie death to shame. The clouds above nearly wept with them. The banging of the door no longer mattered, nothing else really mattered.

"K-Kris..." Ralsei slowly moved his hands up Kris's back, giving him a warm hug back. The friendship grew strong between them, they were inseparable. No matter how much they wanted to deny it, they needed each other.

"Kris, if I'm going to turn my final wish is for you to be safe and sound..."

"WE CAN BE TOGETHER FOREVER! FOREVER, RALSEI!" Kris cried out. He held Ralsei's hand and hugged him tightly, not letting go. "I-I can't let you go, Ralsei...I-I just c-cant! Please, l-let me stay with you!"

Ralsei thought for a moment, he didn't want Kris to be alone but he didn't want him to die alone, either. He didn't want to make this choice...he didn't want to die. The story was all set out for him and his friends.

Noelle would get through, Lancer and Martha would escape with Susie out the exit, and Ralsei and Kris would escape and they all would be saved from this hell. Why wasn't it going to plan? Why did Ralsei have to get bit...he didn't want to die. He wanted this to be a fever dream, and he wanted this world to have a Hollywood Ending.

Why couldn't life just be fair?

"Ralsei...please, let me stay with you!" Kris continued. Ralsei thought for a moment and made his choice. He wished that Kris COULD stay with him, but he just couldn't. He readied himself and stared into Kris's eyes.

"Kris, you have to go now. I know you want to stay with me, but I couldn't bear to see you get hurt!" Kris's cries still rang out like a bell, making Ralsei cry just as much. He really couldn't leave him, he just couldn't. He couldn't force himself to let go...his dad died, his brother died, his mother died, and now his best friend was dying right in front of his eyes.

"Please stay with me! STAY WITH ME RALSEI, PLEASE STAY! DON'T GO!"

"Kris, I don't want you to see this..."

"DON'T DO IT! RALSEI PLEASE, DON'T LEAVE ME!"

Ralsei grabbed his bat and set himself up for what he had planned. Kris tried getting rid of it, just because he couldn't face to see or know that his best friend was about to die. Bags had formed under Ralsei's eyes, as did little lumps that formed around his face and mouth.

"I'm sorry, Kris...I'm so sorry that I couldn't see the light of day with you... I'm so sorry"

   "I love you."

   "RALSEI, NO--"

But it was too late, Ralsei bashed the bat on top of his skull, killing him. Kris screamed and cried at the same time, the whole world went grey. He couldn't live, he couldn't hang onto this world anymore without him by his side...without Lancer and Martha by his side...without his dad by his side.

He grabbed the bat. If Ralsei was going to die...he would too! He couldn't live another second without Ralsei. It's funny what sadness and depression does to someone, making them never see the light of day again. Kris was right there, and he could have done something.

  But he couldn't.

Kris held the bat close, he was ready for death to embrace him. He would meet Ralsei in heaven if he did this, and they'd be together forever. He got ready, and on the count of three, he would do it. He counted down slowly, the world becoming slower every time he counted down.

"3...2..." he muttered. He sighed and lowered the bat for the hit. "1."

   And then he did it.

  ...

  ...

  ...

  ...

  ...

  ...

  ...

  ...

He should have died right there but, for some reason, the bat just flew over his head. He couldn't force himself to do it to himself. Was it his brother, mother, father, or BFF that stopped him? Who knew...but what he did know is that he couldn't force himself to do it.

Everyone was dead, gone forever, as far as he knew. Lancer and Martha were gone, Noelle was gone, Ralsei was gone, and Susie was gone. It was just him now, he was alone and had no one to help him. He would have to survive himself, learn how to kill zombies properly and everything!

 "KRIS!"

He could have sworn he had gone mad after hearing Susie's scream. She was dead and Kris was alone, that was it and that was final. Yet, it kept coming back and kept growing louder. It came to the point it felt so real, almost like it was right behind him...

"KRIS! ARE YOU OK? WHAT HAPPENED?" Susie's embrace made Kris rethink everything that he thought. Susie was there, giving him a big hug, and she wasn't dead. Kris didn't know how to react but to just give a hug back. A very lackluster hug, but a hug nonetheless.

"Kris, where's--" Susie started. She turned her attention to Ralsei, whose head was bashed open with blood pouring out. She didn't even try to finish her sentence; she couldn't make her friend upset again.

"Where's Lancer and Martha?" Kris asked. He also knew instinctively that they were dead based upon Susie's silence. So it was just them, Susie and Kris were the last survivors of this town.

"C-Cmon', Kris. I f-found us a way out..." Susie stuttered as she tried to hold herself up. Kris reluctantly followed her out the school and into the parking lot, leaving all their memories and friends forever. They stumbled together, hugging onto each other for dear life and comfort.

All their friends were dead and if they didn't hurry...

They'd be too.
