Leyland Adventures Chapter Thirteen: Part Fifteen

"Aradressa!" Tysashi exclaimed without much regard for who was present.

Marissa came to him, her violet eyes staring him down as the smoothing scent of lavender eased his body.

"She's not home, she went to collect the second shard of the Ice Gemstone. I told her she didn't have to, but my daughter is persistent. What do you require from her?"

"I had wanted to spend the rest of my day with her before I went to collect the fourth shard. I've noticed we haven't been communicating much, so I wanted to make up for that."

"How sweet! I am obsessed with your character, Tysashi. I'm sure if Aradressa was here, she'd gladly take time out of her day to spend with you. But since she's not, I'll give up my time for you. We can take a mellow walk through the Kula Outlet. Oh, my apologies, you walked from Kanpoi's Edge to here. Would you like a rejuvenating drink instead?"

He nodded, filling the queen with cheer as she prepared the drinks.

Marissa took a prolonged sip before her reflective, plum-colored lips left the edge of the cup. Her fingers ran around the ring as her dazzling, starry nails tapped the side.

"Tysashi, I've processed an incredible amount of information about you. All from what Aradressa has foreclosed to me and from what I have seen. But you don't know very much about me, do you?"

"I don't, I'd love to know some interesting things about you."

"Well, let's start with my elemental type. I'm a Psychic/Healing type, so you know where she gets her healing powers from. Obviously, her pyrokinesis came from her valiant father who isn't here with us today. While most Psychic-Types are able to predict future events, I don't have such power. My psychic power is more so used to prevent my mind from being read and protection. I can perform what's called the Psychic Firewall. I basically create a metaphorical wall of thought that secures my actual thoughts from being read. Have you been following me so far, Tysashi?"

"Yes, ma'am. That technique sounds amazing!"

"Indeed it is, wanna see something else that's cool?"

He beamed at her with a vigorous grin, enthusiastic about her upcoming showcase of talent. Placing her cup down, she sat quietly. Before he knew it, a voice could be heard in his head.

"Hello, Tysashi. Can you hear me?"

"Whoa! Are you- in my head?!" He questioned with a powerful shout. Her resonating voice tickled his mind, yet it calmed him.

"Indeed. Thanks to this ability, I can command my troops through their minds. This power assisted me during my fight to become queen and has helped during my time in the wars. I can read their thoughts and they can hear mine; it takes a powerful Psychic-Type to communicate with multiple people through the mind without getting jumbled. However, I get an excruciating headache if I do this with multiple people. Speaking of reading thoughts, you're still troubled over Aradressa."

"I tend to get uneasy when thinking about others. I can't describe how much Aradressa means to me, we've grown attached with each other. Now it feels like I'm becoming independent from her."

"Oh? Do you feel that Aradressa is an absolute requirement for your survival?"

"Of course I do, she's the reason I'm alive now. I don't know how I would've survived without her. I still remember the first day we met, and I always come back to that day when I think about her."

"Such a benevolent boy. Aradressa shares an identical feeling for you as well. You two are inseparable, no force in the world would be powerful enough to split you apart. Besides the dragon egg, that was an interesting event."

"Heh, yeah. Thank you, Marissa. Is there anything else you can do?"

Exiting herself from his head, she replied with a beautiful smile. "Watch this."

Shooting her finger towards his cup, she bent the laws of gravity to make the cup float. She then took the blue liquid from the cup and created a variety of shapes and forms. Tysashi sat and watched like an innocent child as Marissa performed more tricks before putting an end to the show. He applauded the queen, causing her face to glow red with a gentle grin.

"Tysashi, excuse me for being so prompt, but I'm having a marvelous time with you. Now I see why Aradressa is so jubilant with your stay. Perhaps we should make time for each other more often."

"Yeah, I completely agree. You're an amazing mother!" He praised. "So not all Psychic-Types will have the same ability, does that go for every element?"

"It does, that's what makes everyone unique. A Fire-Type might not have natural pyrokinesis, but can consume fire and shoot it back. And before you ask, Aradressa can't eat fire. Unfortunately, some have been relentlessly targeted for their powers."

"That's absolutely disgusting to think about. Speaking of which, Aradressa mentioned a person named Cynthia to me. I might be wrong, but it was said she was the previous queen."

Marissa cleared her throat before responding to his statement, taking a deep breath.

"Yes, Cynthia did rule over the Kula Region at one point. She's a Lightning/Mirror type with power that matches Aradressa's. Mirror-Types can duplicate themselves, reflect incoming attacks, and some have even been able to trap others in a different reality inside a mirror. Cynthia can't duplicate herself, but that ability would hardly make a difference due to her full potential. Has Aradressa ever spoken about an event named The Queens' War?"

"She has, Cynthia fought against you for control."

"She did, Cynthia was uncontested before due to her might and her strategies. She's an intelligent leader who spreads her message with fear. Cynthia is allergic to sympathy as her heart is a black, bleak void. I was in the early stages of pregnancy with my husband fighting along with me. You should know the rest; she fled into the Rimmirus Region and was never heard of again. Some theorize she took her life away, others say she started over. In the end, I haven't the slightest clue as to what she's doing. You see Tysashi, those born with godlike power will either make use or abuse them. Her ultimate goal is to collect the gemstones to revive Tyrant, a beast of destruction. Tyrant ran rampant through Leyland until he was struck down by the leaders of all five regions. Am I going too fast, Tysashi?"

He swayed his head sideways, connecting everything said so far.

"Anyhow, Tyrant was summoned by an unidentifiable individual as they were consumers by Tyrant. It's been said they made an attempt to control the beast, but it backfired horribly. Measures have been made to ensure he can't be summoned again. This all occurred before gemstones could be gathered in exchange for a wish."

"I see, I'm hoping such a tragedy doesn't happen again. Well, it was lovely talking to you. I'm gonna rest up for tonight."

Finishing up his cup, he thanked her while walked up the stairs, hearing Marissa tell him sweet dreams.

"Man, what a day." His tired body collapsed on the comforting bed, reliving him.

"Almost done with this gemstone. Once I'm finished with it, I'll fight Floria again. Then fulfill some wishes. After that, on to the Wind Gemstone."

He sighed, taking the gemstone from Livia out to gaze at it.

"I'll be home soon, guys. Aradressa should have the Ice Gemstone soon, and then the rest shouldn't take long. I'll try to it back with all of my limbs intact."

He sat the gemstone on the drawer, getting comfortable as his eyes sealed shut.
