Kaya's POV

She saw him run away with tears. She could do nothing but watch him in pain.

Pain wasn't new to her. She was born to be inflicted with pain but seeing someone else suffering... seeing Chris like that made her realize what she went through. And from then, she took it upon her to help him, to help people like her and Chris to cope with stuff. The way she taught herself to.

But right now, Kaya's feet were stuck to the floor, phone in hand, trying to move but couldn't. It felt like metal chains were holding her back. Holding her from helping Chris.

How can someone be so cruel as to send such pictures? This has crossed a few limits and everyone knew it.

Yet all remained quiet.

The world suffers a lot. Not because of the violence, but because of the silence supporting it. Encouraging it. If one person, just one person speaks up, stuff like this will tend to stop and everyone knew it. Yet no one spoke up when the principal came and asked why everyone was silent.

Silence can kill people with its sharpness. Does anyone in this school know that?

Everyone went back to minding their own business, but their telepathic connections with each other spoke a thousand different words. And none of them related to a party or how good the day was.

Kaya couldn't hold it in her anymore. She stormed to the principles room and entered it without knocking, sliding her phone across the table so the principal could see what happened.

As he saw the screen, the principal's eyebrows furrowed and he looked at Kaya. "Who did this?" he asked.

"Rick." She told as she's seen him using his phone right before the image was sent to all. And who could miss that devilish smirk he possessed once he was satisfied with Chris's reaction?

"I'll make sure he takes it down." And Kaya's whole demeanor collapsed. Horror washed over her.

Make sure the picture is taken down? Is he serious? Is he letting Rick go without punishment? Is he just going to remain silent like everyone else?

Is there no good in anyone anymore?

She slammed her wrist on the table with so much force, the principal jerked from the table.

"Do something about it." She sneered. And the principal shook his head with sympathetic eyes.

"He's the senator's son." Is all he said and Kaya stormed out. It was true, Rick could escape because of his political background. But Kaya is determined not to go down without a fight. On not going down without fighting Chris's battles by his side.

But she also knew that as time goes by, it doesn't heal anything. It just teaches us how to live with the pain. Just the way it taught her.

But she's not going to let Chris get any more used to pain then he already is. She's going to teach him to self-heal. To save himself. To fight for himself.

She's going to try her best to break his cage and set the bird free from its agony.

I just wanted to give you a small insight into Kaya's background:

She leads a pretty rough life, not as bad as Chris's but she knows how it feels to have no one by her side.

She's just moved to the school Chris goes to and thought Chris could help himself, but then notices that he's far too broken to fight.

She's a senior and shares classes with Rick.

I'm not going to be mentioning all this in the chapters so just thought y'all should know.

Her personal life will be explained later.

Thanks for reading.
