Emerson's POV

"I'm... what?" She stood there, confused and astonished at the same time.

"So we're..." I turned to her. "Sisters?"

Danielle nodded. "Yeah. But not just any sisters. Since you both are demons, you both have the same mindset. You act, talk, think, and look almost exactly alike."

Elena turned to me. "Same mindset, huh?" Danielle nodded. "So tell me, Emerson. How long have you known?"

My eyes widened. The question was broad, but I knew exactly what she was talking about. "W-what do you mean? Known what?"

"That you're not straight."

They all stared at me. Danielle looked surprised. Erik looked like he was looking at a whole other person.

I felt sick. I didn't want them to know. They'd make fun of me about it, maybe ignore me.

I felt the vomit coming up my throat. I covered my mouth and ran off to my room. I didn't care if they'd follow me, or Elena would explain. I just wanted to get out of there.

Once I was in my room, I locked the door and breathed. I tried forgetting about it. I couldn't. I ran into the bathroom and retched in the toilet. Once that was finished, I flushed it down the drain.

"Emerson?" I heard someone yell. "Is everything alright?"

I quickly wiped my face. "Yeah, everything's fine!" I yelled back.

In about a minute, Mom was standing in the doorway, a worried look on her face. "Are you sure? It looks like you just threw up."

I nodded. "I did."

"What's wrong, sweetie?"

I sighed. "Well, apparently I have a twin sister and she knows something that I don't want anyone to know."

Mom sat down next to me, wrapping her arm around my waist. "Did she tell other people about it?"

I shrugged. "Maybe. I left in a hurry."

Mom smiled. "Well, if she did, I would've heard it by now." She squeezed me. "Everything's going to be okay. Don't worry."

Elena appeared in the doorway. "Why'd you leave so soon?"

I curled into a ball. "Oh, maybe because you were about to tell my deepest, darkest secret."

She sat in front of me. "You need to tell him, though. Why be in a relationship when you don't even like the other person?"

Mom stared at us. "What's she talking about, Em?"

Elena cocked her head. "You didn't even tell your mother?"

"What is going on?" Mom almost yelled.

I sighed. "Mom, I have something to tell you." She turned to me. "I... I'm not straight."

Mom gave me a small smile. "That's okay, sweetie. But... what are you, then?"

I bit my lip. "I... I'm a lesbian. I like girls."
