"Kendall! Nancy!" Jonathan screamed into the woods. "Come on, come on. Kendall! Where are you?"

"Jonathan!" Kendall screamed, still in the upside down, not knowing how to get back home, holding onto Nancy's hand like her life depended on it. "Jonathan!" The girls screamed. "Jonathan! We're right here?" Nancy yelled running in zig zags, dragging Kendall along after her.

"Nancy!" Jonathan yelled as he held a flashlight looking for the two. "Kendall! Come on!"

"Jonathan, Where are you? Jonathan!" Nancy screamed as they stopped to breathe once they believed they had gotten away from the creature. "Kendall!" They both heard in the distance.

"Jonathan!" They screamed but all they got back were echoes of their own voices. "Jonathan, We're right here! Right here!" Kendall yelled while spinning in circles, her voice straining from how much she was yelling.

"I'm right here!" Jonathan screamed. "Kendall! Nancy! Just follow the sound of my voice!".

The girls had heard the boy's idea and began running where they heard the voice. "Jonathan!" Both girls screamed, running as fast as they could. "Just follow my voice!" They heard Jonathan scream in the distance, "Jonathan!" The girls screamed.

"Follow my voice. Kendall, I'm right here!" As soon as Kendall heard Jonathan's voice she ran in that direction, Nancy right beside her.

"Nancy!" They both stopped to look to their left, seeing the monster they had just gotten away from. Nancy screamed in terror as Kendall screamed for Jonathan in the distance, hoping the boy could hear them like they did.

Jonathan whipped his head in the direction of the screaming, "Nancy! Kendall!" Joanthan stopped in front of the same tree where Jonathan found the girls' bags. Jonathan breathed heavily as he looked at the hole in the tree, slimy, red and glowing.

The girls were hiding behind a tree, hoping the monster didn't see them. Kendall had her hand covering her mouth as she sobbed, her other hand in Nancys who was trying to catch her breath.

Jonathan kept his flashlight pointed at the hole as he took slow steps towards it meanwhile on the other side, both girls were shaking as the monster stomped, every step getting closer and closer to the girls. "Kendall? Nancy?" Jonathan whispered out.

"Follow the sound of my voice!" The girls could hear the boy as if he was a few feet away from the two, they looked to their side and saw the tree they crawled into.

"You go first." Nancy quietly whispered, making Kendall's eyes go wide. "What no! Hell no." Kendall whisper yelled back to Nancy. "I'll be right behind you." Nancy whispered, pushing Kendall out towards the tree with the hole. Kendall slowly looked back at Nancy before crawling in.

"Kendall? Nancy?" Jonathan asked, stepping closer to the tree. All of a sudden, a hand popped out making the boy fall backwards. "Jonathan!" Kendall screamed.

"Kendall!" Jonathan yelled, grabbing the girls hand and dragging her out. The girl landed on top of Jonathan as he tried to calm her down. Kendall slowly shook her head, sitting up as she looked at the tree. "No, no, no! Nancy come on!" Kendall screamed into the tree.

"Help!" Nancy screamed, her hand popping out and the top of her head peaking through the goop. Kendall immediately grabbed Nancy's hand, pulling her out as Jonathan quickly scrambled up, helping Kendall get Nancy out the rest of the way.

...

After the three got to Nancy's house, Nancy let Kendall take a shower to clean her self off from all the dirt and goop.

When she was done, Kendall went to find bedspreads with Jonathan as Nancy took her shower. Once her and Jonathan found the extra pillows and blankets, they both quickly set up little beds on the floor and Jonathan  instantly fell asleep, making Kendall sigh just as Nancy walked in.

Kendall cleared her throat, slowly looking up at Nancy. "Is this okay? Uh, we found it in the closet. Jonathan... i don't know how but... he fell asleep. I can go home. I just figured-" "Yeah, no. I... I don't wanna be alone either." Nancy interrupted Kendall, making the Rogers girl slowly nod.

Nancy sent Kendall a final smile, walking towards her bed as Kendall started to get comfortable on the floor. The two sat in silence, the only sound being Jonathans faint snores before Nancy groaned, opening her blankets out. "Can you just come up here?"

"Yep." Kendall said almost instantly, hopping out of the makeshift bed on the floor and climbing into Nancy's bed beside her.

"Do you want the lights off, or-" "On. Definitely on." Kendall interrupted Nancy's question, making the Wheeler girl nod. "Yeah. That's what I was thinking."

...

As much as she wanted to, Kendall didn't get any sleep that night. All she could think about was the scary place her and Nancy were in. She heard commotion coming from beside her and turned her head to see Nancy staring up at the ceiling with wide eyes.

"I couldn't sleep either." Nancy mumbled, feeling Kendall's eyes on her. "I couldn't stop thinking about it, that deer." She mumbled again, making Kendall's brows crease. "The deer?" Kendall tiredly whispered.

Nancy nodded before her eyes went wide. Before Kendall could even process it, Nancy shot out of her bed, running to her bookshelf to grab a book, waking Jonathan up in the process.

"Hey." Jonathan tiredly groaned as Nancy mindlessly stepped over him, climbing over Kendall to get in the bed. "Hey." Kendall muttered back to Jonathan but keeping her eyes on Nancy, trying to see what she was doing. Jonathan yawned as he got off the ground. "Couldn't sleep?"

"Every time I close my eyes, I just... keep seeing that... thing." Kendall mumbled as Jonathan took the spot on the bed next to her, letting Kendall rest her head on his shoulder. Nancy nodded in agreement with Kendall, flipping through the pages of the book in her lap. "Wherever we were, that place... I think that it lives there. It was feeding there. Feeding on that deer. That means that if... if Will and Marcus and Barbara..."

Before Nancy could finish her sentence, Jonathan shook his head, putting his hand over the book. "Hey. My mom said she talked to Will and Marcus. If they're alive, there's a chance Barbara is, too."

Jonathan slowly retracted his hand and Nancy turned to the two older teens, her eyes watering slightly. "That means that she's trapped... in that place."

"We have to find it again." Kendall said, making Jonathan turn to her with wide eyes. "You wanna go back out there?" Kendall turned to look at him and shrugged. "Maybe we don't have to. When we saw it, it was feeding on that deer. Meaning it's... it's a predator, right?"

"Right." Nancy and Jonathan mumbled, making Kendall nod to help them understand. "And it seems to hunt at night, like a... a lion or a coyote. But it doesn't hunt in packs like them. It's always alone, like... like a bear."

"And remember at Steve's, when Barb cut herself? And then, last night, the deer-" "It was bleeding, too." Jonathan interrupted Nancy in shock, slowly looking up at the girls.

"Can I see the book really quickly?" Kendall asked Nancy. The Wheeler girl practically threw the book to Kendall, wanting to know what she was thinking. Kendall flipped through the book of animals until she landed on the Sharks page. "Sharks can detect blood in one part per million. That's one drop of blood in a million, and they can smell it from a quarter mile away."

"So you're saying it can detect blood?" Jonathan asked as Nancy gently hit Kendall's shoulder as if to say great thinking. Kendall turned to Jonathan, shrugging. "It's just a theory."

"We could test it." Nancy muttered, making the Juniors whip their heads to face her in shock. "But if it works..." Jonathan mumbled.

"At least we'll know it's coming." Nancy quickly said. Kendall sighed, running a hand through her hair when the doorknob started to rattle, making the three jump.

"Honey, are you up?" Nancy's mom asked from the other side of the door. Kendall slowly put her hand to her mouth to cover her laughs as Nancy shut her eyes in embarrassment, sighing. "Yeah, I'm... I'm getting dressed."

"I made some blueberry pancakes." Karen yelled through the door, making Nancy nod even though her mom couldn't see her. "I'll be down in a second."

Jonathan and Kendall kept their mouths shut as the footsteps faded and once they knew her mom was gone, Kendall turned to Nancy, trying to hold back her smile. "Your mom doesn't knock?"

Nancy slowly turned to Kendall, trying to hold back her laugh before letting it through as she hit Kendall's shoulder with her own. "Shut up."

...

As soon as the three walked into the hunting store, Kendall ran for the axes hanging on the wall, grabbing one as Jonathan went for the chains and Nancy went for the gasoline.

The three met in the middle and just before they were gonna check out, their eyes fell on a stack of bear traps. They all slowly turned to each other before Jonathan quickly grabbed one, walking towards the cash register.

Kendall went to follow after him before coming across a box of nails. As Nancy went to walk towards the counter, Kendall grabbed her arm, stopping her. "You don't care about that baseball bat, do you?"

Nancy scoffed a chuckle at her words, shaking her head. "No." As Nancy went towards the register, Kendall turned back to the nails, grabbing a box and heading towards the counter just as Nancy put down the can of gasoline and a pack of matches.

"And I'll have four boxes of the.38s." Jonathan muttered. The cashier gave the three wide eyes before grabbing the box, placing it on the counter as he rang everything up. "What you kids doin' with all this?"

Kendall's eyes went wide, staring at the man. "Um..." "Monster hunting." Nancy interrupted Kendall. The cashier looked at the three like they were crazy before packing up their belongings and letting them go.

"'Monster hunting'?" Kendall chuckled out as they walked out of the store, Jonathan popping open the trunk of his car. Nancy smiled, laughing with Kendall as she turned to her, putting the bags in the trunk. "You know, last week... I was shopping for a new top with Barb all weekend. It seemed like life or death, you know? And... and now-" "You're shopping for bear traps with Jonathan Byers and Kenny Rogers." Kendall interrupted.

Nancy laughed, nodding her head. "Yeah." "What's the weirdest part?" Jonathan asked, making Kendall laugh, turning to him. "Oh, yeah! Us or the bear trap?" Nancy looked back and forth between Jonathan and Kendall before shaking her head. "You two. It's definitely you."

Kendall shook her head at Nancy's words, holding back a laugh as Nancy let hers out. Jonathan felt himself smile as he watched Kendall, a small flipping feeling in his chest.

A car honking made the three turn their heads towards the street where two boys, Reed and Greg where driving by, Reed halfway out the window as he pointed at Nancy. "Hey, Nance! Can't wait to see your movie." Before any of the three could do anything, Greg drove off.

"What the hell was that?" Jonathan asked and Kendall shook her head.

"I don't know." Nancy whispered before her eyes went wide and she started running down the street. "Oh shit!" Kendall mumbled, going after her as Jonathan shut his trunk. "Hey! Where are you going?"

"Nancy, wait!" Kendall yelled as Jonathan caught up with her. "Wait!" Jonathan screamed as Nancy ran into an alley. Kendall and Jonathan skidded to a stop once they got to the movie theater. 'NANCY THE SLUT WHEELER' painted on the upcoming board in red spray paint.

"Shit." Kendall mumbled, looking at Jonathan before running into the alley Nancy ran in. She silently groaned at Steve, Tommy H, Carol and Nicole standing across from Nancy. Apparently, Kendall's groan wasn't as silent as she thought since Carol turned in their direction at the noise.

"Speak of the devil." Carol sarcastically cheered as she pointed at Jonathan. "Aww.. Sure that's not you?" Kendall asked, sending a playful pout to Carol, making the red headed flip Kendall off. Nancy sighed, turning to face Steve. "You came by last night?"

"Ding! Ding! Ding! Does she get a prize?" Carol asked, making Kendall roll her eyes. "Look, I don't know what you think you saw, but it wasn't like that." Nancy defended and Steve let out a dry chuckle, taking another step closer to Nancy. "What, you just let him into your room to... study?"

Kendall rolled her eyes, walking up to Nancy and Steve. She slowly rested her hand on Nancy's shoulder, pulling her back as she glared at Steve, pointing at him. "Oh, you know what? You don't get to talk, asshole." Steve's eyebrows raised, chuckling at Kendall. "Excuse me?"

"You're acting all high and mighty, upset that you're girlfriends main priority isn't you so you slut shamed her in spray paint as if you didn't do the exact same goddamn thing." Kendall shot at Steve, going right up in his face and pointing at his chest roughly. "Oh... Look's like someone's still upset about the breakup." Carol sarcastically whined, pouting her lip.

"You say one more thing and I'll rip those carrot weeds you call hair right out of your head, bitch!" Kendall yelled at Carol, shutting her up. She turned back to Steve and flipped him off. Steve chuckled and Kendall, wiping the edges of his mouth before glaring at her. "Go to hell, Kendall."

"I'll see you there." Kendall said, giving him a sickening smile as she turned to walk away. Steve scoffed at Kendall, following after her. "You know what, Kenny? I'm actually kind of impressed. I always thought you'd never get over me, but I guess you're just a little slut like your mom."

Kendall shut her eyes, continuing to walk as Nancy and Jonathan stopped in front of her and Steve kept going. "Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, that house is full of screw ups. You know, I guess I shouldn't really be surprised. A bunch of screw-ups in your family." Steve said, said, pushing Kendall's shoulder.

"Steve!" Nancy yelled to stop him as Kendall stopped walking and Steve kept going. " I mean, your grandma... I'm not even surprised what happened to your brother. Or his." Steve said, pointing at Jonathan at his last sentence. Kendall pulled her hands into fists, shutting her eyes. "Steve, shut up!" Nancy yelled.

"I'm sorry I have to be the one to tell you, but the Rogers, their family, it's a disgrace to the entire-" Steve was cut off by Jonathan walking up to Kendall, putting a hand on her shoulder, pushing her behind him before punching Steve.

Steve looked at Jonathan in shock before jumping on top him. "Steve!" Kendall yelled as they landed on top of Steve's car only for him to throw Jonathan on the ground. The two kept fighting one another, Kendall and Nancy trying to yell at the boys to stop while Tommy egged them on.

"Kick his ass, man!" Tommy screamed, making Kendall whip her head to him. "Shut the hell up, Tommy!" "Stop! Steve! Knock it off, you guys!" Nancy yelled, standing next to Kendall as Carol crossed her arms, squinting at the fight. "Stop! Steve! Knock it off, you guys!"

Sirens blared, making Carol and Nicole run away. Kendall and Nancy screamed at Jonathan to stop fighting as Tommy tried to grab Jonathan in hopes to get him off of Steve. "Cops! Come on!" Tommy yelled, trying to get Jonathan off of Steve as Carol and Nicole stopped running from the other side of the alley. "Tommy!"

"Just go, Carol!" Tommy yelled, waving her off. Officer Callahan came bursting through into the fight, trying to grab Jonathan's shoulder to pull him off of Steve only to get hit in the nose, "Oh! My nose!"

Officer Powell got Jonathan off of Steve as Tommy lifted up Steve and began to run away, Callahan getting up and chasing after them. Kendall slowly turned her head to Officer Powell who was handcuffing Jonathan and pulling him in the cruiser, his eyes landing on the girls, nudging his head towards the cruiser. "Get in the car."

...

"Do you think we'll be out of here soon?" Kendall asked the woman who went with her to help get ice. The woman with the name tag reading 'Flo' sighed. "You and the other girl? Yes. Him? No. He assaulted a police officer."

Kendall sighed as Flo wrapped the ice cubes in a rag. "Well, how long are you gonna keep him?" Flo chuckled at Kendall's urgency, slowly turning to her with a small smirk. "You and your boyfriend have big plans, do you?"

Kendall chuckled at Flo's words, shaking her head as she looked down at her shoes, feeling herself blush slightly. "He's not my boyfriend."

Flo chuckled at Kendall. "I think you better tell him that." Kendall's brows slowly creased as she shook her head. "What?" Flo sighed, handing Kendall the rag of ice cubes. "Only love makes you that crazy, sweetheart. And that damn stupid."

Kendall, not knowing what else to do, took the rag from Flo, mumbling a small thank you as she walked back towards Nancy and Jonathan, Nancy fast asleep in the seat next to Kendall's seat, her head in her arms.

"Found some ice." Kendall announced, taking her seat as Jonathan smiled, putting her arms out for Kendall to ice. "Thanks." Kendall muttered, making Jonathan slowly turn to Kendall, his brows furrowed. "For what?" Kendall smiled, looking at Jonathan. "For beating him up when he was talking shit about my family. You beat his ass good."

Jonathan laughed at her words, making Kendall laugh along. After a while, the laughter died down and Jonathan just stared at Kendall. The Rogers girl slowly looked up, feeling eyes on her. Jonathan sighed, sending Kendall a lopsided smile. "I'll always defend you. Always."
