In this world, four magic-wielding guilds have replaced the four warrior clans: the guilds of Mighty Thunder, Roaring River, Swift Wind, and Dark Shadow.

Unlike the clans, guilds are composed only of working warriors and apprentices. Instead of ranks, they have classes to describe a cat's role and magical ability. Cats are not born into guilds, but rather may choose to join the guild of their choice when they are old enough to learn magic. Cats may leave, transfer, and re-join guilds as they wish. Also, guilds do not have territories or borders, only camps.

In this universe, StarClan is a bedtime tale - some cats choose to believe in it, others do not. No one can prove to have communicated with StarClan (and those who claim to are not always believed). As such, leaders do not get 9 lives, and there are no prophecies to go around.

Warriors in each guild work together to complete quests. Quests are side-roleplays, where you and a friend or a small group can play out a short plotline that still connects to the main story. Quest plotlines can be anything from hunting to finding precious objects and fighting outlaws. On the chapter titled "The Quest Board," available quests will be described in the comments. At any time, you may look through them and claim a quest for you and your team! You can then roleplay your cat completing the quest in the comments of the appropriate area. You'll usually go on quests with members of your own guild, but sometimes warriors from different guilds will work together to complete a difficult task.

Warriors can learn up to 2 magic spells to help them out on quests. Different classes have different types of magic that you can use. Most cats learn their first magic spell at some point during their apprenticeship, and their second spell after they've had experience as a warrior. You can learn all about the classes and available magic in the next chapter.

Wealth is an important statistic for the guilds. A guild's wealth reflects how active and skilled it is, and is the best measure to compare itself to the other guilds. Wealth is gained by successfully completing prestigious or difficult quests from high-paying customers.

Prey is also fairly important. Cats need to eat prey in order to survive, so the larger a guild, the more prey it needs. As time passes, a guild's prey amount will deplete, so regular hunting quests are required to keep it plentiful. If there is not enough prey to support the guild, their wealth will start depleting as well.

When you're not on a quest, you can hang out in your guild's base camp. This is where all of the guild members can roleplay together, and it's the perfect place to meet new friends and get to know other characters. The camps are relaxing places made for laid-back, large group roleplays.

Before you choose which guild you want to call home, you should read up on each guild's info and reputation.

Disclaimer: these guilds are inspired by the original clans, yes. However, they are not exactly the same. The reputations that may have once been harmful, untrue stereotypes for the original clans will now thrive in the guilds. Because in this universe the cats choose which guild they want to join, rather than be born into one, it is much more understandable why the guilds have such reputations. Like-minded cats will come together, and some warriors will specifically choose to join a guild because of its reputation and stereotypes, which will only reinforce them. That said, a character will not be declined just because their personality doesn't fit the guild.

With that said, let's take a look at these guilds!

The Mighty Thunder Guild

Based off of ThunderClan, the Mighty Thunder Guild is the home of the recklessly brave and indisputably good. Mighty Thunder members are the most likely to take on the most daunting quests, such as battling fierce predators and hunting down outlaws. Mighty Thunder cats are very preoccupied about their honour. No one would dare to do anything that could dishonour the guild or their fellow guild members. Peace and justice are also very important to them. This guild makes its base camp in the heart of the forest, in a clearing surrounded by large deciduous trees and thick undergrowth. Mighty Thunder cats are often skilled at hunting, fighting, and climbing.

🌊 The Roaring River Guild 🌊

As a parallel to RiverClan, the Roaring River Guild is the choice of cats who feel comfortable in the water. Roaring River members are clever and powerful. They can also be quite proud, so warriors will choose whatever quests they think are worthy of their skills. The reputation of the guild is extremely important to them. Members avoid failing quests at all costs and are very loyal to their guild and fellow members. The Roaring River Guild's base camp is nestled on the shore between two rivers, hidden in the reeds. These cats are excellent at swimming, fishing, and wrestling.

🌪️ The Swift Wind Guild 🌪️

The Swift Wind Guild reflects WindClan traits. Cats who choose this guild should be determined and adventurous. Spirit and camaraderie are held in high regard. Members should be able to trust each other and work well together. They often take on the most adventurous quests, such as exploring distant lands and searching for treasures. This guild belongs on the open moor, surrounded by grassy hills. Swift Wind cats are often very fast runners, with great agility and stamina. The other guilds admire their speed and tenacity.

🌑 The Dark Shadow Guild 🌑

The Dark Shadow Guild, based off of ShadowClan, is the most disreputable of the guilds. The cats in this guild are cunning and sneaky. They don't care about their guild's honour or reputation so much, as long as they can get rewards from doing quests. Dark Shadow warriors are known to sometimes take the prizes for completing quests after another guild has done the work, for example stealing a lost object after a different guild has found it, and then returning it for the reward. However, Dark Shadow Guild members are also very difficult to intimidate, and they aren't afraid to accept difficult quests such as tracking down outlaws. The guild's base camp is deep in a coniferous forest, surrounded by thistles and tall pine trees. These cats are the best at stalking, tracking, and planning.

The Guildless

Guildless is a name given to any feline who is not working for one of the four guilds. This includes kittypets, loners, queens, kits, elders -- essentially any cat who is not a working warrior. Queens are Guildless because they must leave their guild in order to take care of their kits.

Guildless cats can still have their own colourful lives despite not belonging to a guild, and they are usually the ones who create quests in the first place. Typically, they don't know any magic unless they used to be part of a guild. Guildless cats are free to roam around anywhere, except that they may not enter a guild's camp. Most Guildless cats hang out in the alleys of the Twolegplace.
