CHAPTER TWENTY FOUR

Arishfa : Avneet...

Avu : You can call me Avu.

Arishfa : So, Avu, the problem is this that Sidd doesn't know about it.

Arishfa : "Or more like I don't want him to know!"

Avu : Uhm, may I ask why?

Arishfa : I never had a chance to tell him. And plus, we don't really often see each other anyways. Since he got married, he just didn't have time for his friends.

Avu : Can it be really true? Because I see Sidd always having time for his friends like Faisal for example. Can it be like he is ignoring her?

Avu : Oh, Avu. Stop over thinking stuffs.

Avu : Oh OK.

Arishfa : Now that I am here for a while, we all can be like in the old times.

Arishfa : Before that Reem came in picture. But now it's you, Avu. I will make sure that you get out of the picture too!

Avu : yeah. Anyways, I am going to cook instant noodles. Would you like to have some?

Arishfa : No, thanks. I just had my break fast.

Avu : OK.

In The Evening

Avu was with Ruhi, playing with her while the bell rang. Arishfa had gone to shopping with some her friends and Sidd hadn't come from work yet.

Both Ruhi and Avu went to open the door.

There was a beautiful lady in her 40s standing with her suitcase. She somehow resembled Sidd in various ways.

Ruhi : Grandma.

Ruhi ran happily towards the woman.

Woman : Ruhi, beta. How are you doing?

Ruhi : I am doing great, dadi. What about you?

Woman : I am also fine, dear!

Ruhi : Dadi, meet her. She's Avneet di.

Avu : Hello, Aunty.

She said, bending down to seek the blessings from her. Avu had always been taught every thing about the Indian culture. After all, her parents, grand parents, all their ancestors were Indian even though Avu was born in America.

Woman : Arey beta. You didn't need to do that.

Avu : No, aunty. It was seeking bless from others. And well, my father always say that take as much as blessings from the elders as you can.

Woman: I must say he is a really good person.

Avu : Indeed.

Woman : So, Ruhi. Where's my chota bandar?

Avu : Bandar?

Ruhi(a bit angry) : She means papa.

Avu (trying to control her laugh) : Oh😂. But why chota bandar?

Woman : Because he used to be just like a monkey when young, so I gave him the name. And well, he's my younger son, that's why "chota". My elder son is "bada bandar."

Avu : Wow. I never knew Sidd has an elder brother.

Avu : By the way, I can agree that he is sometimes a bandar.
Ruhi stomped her foot and angrily went to her room.

Avu : Did I say something wrong?

Woman : Don't worry. She's just a bit angry because she doesn't really like it when others say something bad about her father. Even if it's me, she still gets angry.

Avu : Oh. I can understand. I was just like her when young.

Woman : And Sidd too. He never liked it when someone said something about me.

*I am sure that you guys must have already guessed that this woman is none other than our Sidd's mother, Vibha Nigam.*

At Night

Arishfa still hadn't come yet.

Anyways, Faisal and Jannat had insisted to Sidd and Avu to have a movie night together.

Sidd & Avu are walking there, as the house is quite near.

But the weather changed while they were walking. It became windy and dark as Sidd and Avu paced down the sidewalk.

Avu(chattering) : It's so cold now.

idd bought up his palm to Avu's face, as his other hands wrapped tightly around her.

Avu : Uhm, What are you doing?

Avu asked as her eyes slightly closed because of his touch.

Sidd : Protecting you from the wind, duh!

There was a pure ignorance in his tone.

Avu frowned as she brought her hand on his face.

Avu : Sidd, I am fine.

Her words made Sidd stop during the walk. And she stopped too.

Sidd : I just want to look out for you.

He admitted.

She looked up to see his eyes dark, and sad. She felt guilty, and so lied.

Avu : It's freezing here.

Her ams hugged herself.

Sidd pulled her closer, giving her warmth as her face buried in his chest.

Sidd stumbled a bit by this sudden reaction but then embraced her back.

Sidd : You're so cute.
