Author's POV:-

Y/n snaps out of her thoughts when she feels Taehyung nudge her shoulder and looks at him to find him pointing towards the bride and groom, who were standing up from their seats for pheras.

"What are pheras?" Tae asks her, tilting his head a little, earning a soft smile from her.

"Pheras are one of the important rituals in Indian weddings. It is the seven circles that a couple takes around the sacred fire under the mandap. This one actually proclaims the bride and groom as a man and wife. It's like taking vows in a white wedding.
Each phera (round) that they take together in the presence of fire has a meaning of its own. 7 promises for 7 rounds that both the bride and groom take for each other. "
She explains and turns towards the bride and groom to see they're ready for their first round with a bright yet calm smile, resting on her face.

"Well, what is each round's promise?" He asks, looking at her side profile with a small smile.

"The first round is about promising each other happiness, prosperity and nourishment. For the groom, it is that he would provide her with happiness and take care of her nourishment, where as for the bride, it is that she would look after him and his family and share all his worries and responsibilities. "
She says, smiling softly at Myra and Nihal, who have finished their first round and are now going for their second.

'I would always take care of you, try to keep you happy.'

Taehyung promises himself while staring warmly at Y/n.

"The second round, is about praying to God for the strength that they both need to look after their blissful future together after marriage.
The groom, prays to seek strength so that he can protect their home and children, and the bride promises that she will be by his side as his courage and strength at every step in life, and encourage him in all his ventures. In return, she prays for the groom to love her solely." She continues throwing flower petals at the bride and groom, like others.

'I'll stand in front of you to face the danger, protect you and our future, and try to never let any danger get to you.'
Taehyung promises again, taking a glance at the fire, that was in the middle of the mandap.

"In the third one, the couple prays for wealth. For man, he promises to work hard to become wealthy to quench the needs of his wife and children, and for their long life.
The bride promises that she would love him devotedly and all other men, would be secondary in her life. "
Y/n says, promising this one to herself as well, glancing at Taehyung who was already gazing at her, promising his vow as well to his heart.

"The fourth one is that, the couple promises to always respect and shower each other with immense love and happiness." Y/n says, finally tearing her eyes away from Taehyung to look at the couple and continues.

"The groom thanks God for his bride, who would make his life beautiful and sacred and asks to be blessed with children who would be obedient in the future. And the bride complies, promising to her groom that she would shower him with love and joy from head to toe."

"The fifth vow of the marriage invites the importance of dependency and loyalty to each other.
The groom claims his bride as his best friend and a well-wisher and prays to God to bless her, whereas the bride promises to cherish him all her life and that she will share all his happiness and sorrows as if they are hers and honour her husband. "

Y/n states, gazing lovingly at her friend who can't seem to stop smiling. While Taehyung...he was just not able to remove his eyes from her.

"The sixth round is about the groom expressing how happy he is about finding his bride. He asks her,
'Now that you have taken six steps with me and I'm happy, would you promise to fill my heart with the same happiness for a lifetime?'
And the bride affirms his question by promising to be by his side all her life and keep you happy."

Y/n chuckles when she sees Nihal winking at Myra, making her blush and looking away.

'I would love to ask you the same question, love.' Taehyung thinks to himself while looking at Y/n.

"The seventh and the last phera (vow/round) is about sealing the whole marriage and the newly formed bond, for life.

"Om Sakhi Jaradastayahga" Nihal recites the holy chant.

"Do you know what that means?" Taehyung asks Y/n, earning a nod from her.

"The groom, I mean, Nihal, just declared him and Myra as a man and wife. He promised Myra that he was his and she was hers, for eternity. " She explains.

"Attramshe Sakshino Vadet Pade" Myra says.

"Myra, the bride, just accepted the announcement whole-heartedly. The chant means that the god as the witness, she's his wife. And that they will love, respect, and cherish each other forever. "

Y/n says, cutting Taehyung, who was about to ask what the chant that Myra recited meant, making Taehyung smile at her and look at the newly weds who were getting down the mandap and walking over to the elders to take their blessing.

This final vow beckons the completion of the holy union. The sacred bond of a man and wife is now sealed with an oath of being companions for life with all loyalty, love, honour and the promise to always stand by each other through thick and thin.

All this while, what Y/n and Taehyung didn't realise is that they had promised each and every vow to each other. Even though it's just been a few days since they met, as the days went by, they just fell for each other so deeply and those feelings are just growing with time.

It's like, it was just meant to happen. But they do know that their feelings for each other are more than just puppy love; they are something much more serious and profound.

Y/n pov: -

Finally, it was time for vidaai. A ceremony in which the final farewell from the bride's parents and relatives to their daughter, who would officially start a new chapter in her life with her husband.

"Be happy, and don't forget to take care of yourself as well as him... I'm gonna miss you, my baby." Myra's mother says as she hugs her daughter, who was tearing up.

"I'll be mum, and you should too." Myra replies before pulling away from the hug and moving towards her dad, who was fighting back tears.

"I love you papa..." She mutters as she hugs her dad.

"I love you more, princess." Myra's dad utters, hugging his dearest daughter, closing his eyes, finally letting tears escape.

"Don't forget to take your medicines, okay??" She squints her eyes at him, making all of us chuckle at her.

"I won't," her dad ensures, earning a sweet smile from her daughter.

"Yah, don't tell me you're gonna cry as well." Myra pouts at me, making me shake my head at her.

"No promises, but yeah, I just wanted to say one thing," I say before pulling her in for a hug.

"What is it?"

"Don't make me an aunt soon," I whisper in her ear, making her blush.

"Y-yah!!You just wait till your marriage and also, don't forget to keep me updated about your Tae. "she smirks, pointing at Taehyung, making me roll my eyes.

"Go now, my brother-in-law can't seem to wait anymore." I wink at her, making her eyes widen. She nudges my shoulder before walking over to Taehyung, Jimin and Akhil. She hugs Jimin and Akhil and then Taehyung.

She whispers something in his ear, making him take a glance at me before pulling away from her and whispering back to her.

Finally, she takes her steps towards Nihal, who was waiting for her near the decorated car. She takes a glance back at everyone before turning around to get in the car. And there she goes...starting a new chapter of life.

'And me...with him by my side'

I smile at my thought, glancing at Taehyung only to find him staring at me.

At last, falling in love wasn't that bad, with him.

Taehyung's POV:-

"Take care of her Tae, she deserves it. I'll be burying you 6ft under the ground myself if you ever dare to hurt her." Myra whispers to me. It was cute of her to try to threaten me with her short self. I take a glance at Y/n before whispering her back.

"I could never even think of hurting her. I love her...with every ounce of my soul. Don't worry and take care of yourself. " I give her a smile, pushing her towards Nihal.

If anyone was to say that I'd fall in love with a girl so deeply, I'd have laughed it out. But now...It's different, maybe because... she's different. But that's what makes me fall in love with her every day. A single smile from her lights up my whole day. And I'd not like to have it any other way.

This is so crazy. But I love this craziness. In my eyes, all her imperfections seem impeccable. She's just perfect. Maybe not for everyone, but for me... she is just right.

And she's mine as much as I'm her's.

Actually, Indian marriages go for a while, but it's all fun and meaningful. I wanted to let the world know these meaningful words and emotions, and to be honest, the storyline was a dream I had one day and thought why not write about it? I immediately contacted my friend, Sugar Melody, who was more than ready to help me with it wherever I thought I had run out of ideas to make this fanfiction more pleasing. So that was it, guys. I just wanted to type it all down and present it to you guys.

Note: I wrote what I learned and discovered while researching each ritual.
