Author's note: This is a very short chapter, however, I have completed a re-write of the previous three chapters so you should go back and skim them if you started reading before Nov 11th. Sorry about that, but I believe these changes will improve the story. (Don't worry... Anna Stigg is still the protagonist.)

Once again thanks for reading!

Carl awoke to the sharp rap of knuckles on his door. There was that moment of confusion at waking up in a strange place, but after years of moving from base to base during his military career, he was unfazed. He ticked off the three things that mattered. One, I'm alive. Two, I have a mission. Three, get moving.

His boots hit the floor a full two seconds after Stiggs and he smiled to himself. 'She's quick, I'll give her that.'

It was dark, just as Carl had predicted. By the height of the moon in the sky, he guessed around 22:00 hours and a quick glance at his wrist confirmed it, 22:14 or as the civilians would say... quarter after ten. When he opened it Private Walters was standing at the door looking tired and nervous at the same time. He opened his mouth to speak just as another shot boomed from the top of the wall and, to Carl's immense satisfaction, he flinched.

"Colonel Brody wants to see you, PDQ."

"Lead the way." He said. He heard Stigg, Jones and Bethault fall in behind him without hesitation and smiled for the third, and although he didn't know it, last time.
