Rohit saw Virat walking out of Mahi bhai's room with a dull face and asked him the reason.

"What happened? Bhai scolded?", asked Rohit.

"I wish he had! He didn't even talk to me properly.", replied Virat slowly.

"It's tough to understand him sometimes. At one time he forgives us easily even at big mistakes and at other he will punish in a way we can't even understand.", sighed Rohit.

"That's kinda how he is!", said Jinks who had just come.

"He is giving me silent treatment, Jinksy. I can easily hear his scolding, follow his orders, do the punishments but not this!", said Virat gloomily.

"This is the punishment he is giving you, Vi. He wants you to realize you can't speak out anything without acknowledging your words. Now he is behaving exactly as you wanted him to.", explained Jinks to a sulking Virat.

"But now I do realize what I did was wrong. I would anything he asks me to.", said Virat, "I just want him to behave like before with me.", he added in a whisper which was audible to Rohit and Jinks.

"Vi, don't worry. He will forgive you. He can't stay mad at us for a long time.", said Rohit who was actually sad to see his best friend like that.

"He is giving you silent treatment, right? Hmm...", said Jinks trying to come up with something which might help his best friend.

"Let's go and sleep now.", said Rohit sleepily earning glare from Jinks and Virat both.

"Tujhe toh bas sona hai. Tu ja. Ja
tu.", snapped Virat.

"Haan toh it's night.."

"Will you two please shut up for a while?", interrupted Jinks, "And Virat, did you think what will you do to convince Mahi Bhai?", he said turning to Virat to which Virat shook his head in denial.

"Listen to me then. We know it's tough for him as well to behave like that with you. It's kinda his habit to scold us, guide us and speak up for us whenever required. So you can use this as a weak nerve of his. You get it?", spoke Jinks a bit excited that they were planning to use Mahi bhai's weakness.

"Yes, I do! I think I know what I have to do.", replied Virat not matching with Jinks's excitement.

"You're getting smarter, Jinks.", said Rohit grinning but Jinks and Virat continued their talk after giving him a 'Not now' look making him think why did he choose to stay instead of getting his precious sleep?!

"Guys, it's Mahi Bhai's birthday day after tomorrow!", Virat exclaimed sounding suddenly excited.

"We know, Vi. You didn't forget to bring the gift, right?", Asked Rohit.

"You forget not me. I brought and even got it packed.", retorted Virat.

"Thankfully, he is not upset anymore.", muttered Jinks and looked at Rohit and exchanged a known smile.

Next morning, Virat was little late or let's say intentionally very late for practice which obviously seemed very strange to everyone except Rohit and Jinks who knew why he was late.

Mahi also found it strange but within a minute of brainstorming he knew what his Cheeku was doing.

"Sorry, guys. I got a bit late.", Said Virat joining them after almost one and half hour late.

"Now you have no right to scold me when I get late for practice.", exclaimed Rohit excitedly.

"I just got late today. It's not a daily occurrence like you.", Virat replied rolling his eyes.

"Mahi Bhai!", Virat called and ran behind MS, "Bhai, sorry, I got little late.", Virat expected a 'Why?' but he got nothing so he continued, "Wo I wasn't feeling well last night so.."

This will work! It has to!

And it did!

"Why?", Mahi Bhai perked up on hearing that, "Do you have fever? Or headache? You could take a day off. Is it..", he stopped abruptly when he saw Virat giving him a toothy smile as if he was getting praised.

"Bolo na, Bhai. I'm listening.", said Virat as if Mahi Bhai was singing a song for him.

Mahi Bhai sighed and started walking ahead after giving a 'what to do with this kid?!' look to Virat. He smiled to himself after Virat wasn't around.

After some time, when Virat was batting in the nets, he purposely asked Rohit to trap Mahi Bhai in something so that he won't walk away.

He would purposely hit wrong balls and look at Mahi Bhai after each ball hoping to hear something from him but getting nothing in return, he signalled Rohit to use the another plan.

"You are hitting it wrong.", said Rohit getting his clue, "Arre learn something from me."

"Haan haan mujhe mat sikha.. Bada aaya. Abhi dekh I'll hit it better than you.", replied Virat.

Virat knowingly just middled the next ball and pretended to be missing it.

"Ha.. Dekha. I told you. I do it better. Hai na, Bhai?", he asked turning to Mahi Bhai now.

"Bhai, tell him I can do it better!", whined Virat and for a moment Mahi also found himself shaking his head at his childishness but he soon composed himself and resisted to say anything before walking away.

He doesn't look angry anymore!

Virat thought and they went to call others to make preparations for the night.

"Mahi Bhai,", Virat came to Mahi, "I and Rohit are going out for something. We will return soon.", he said.

"So, Virat?", Came the reply.

As much as he couldn't express, he was dying to hear Cheeku from him!!

"So I just came to inform you", he said looking down, "I never go out without informing you, do I?", his voice taking a sad tone

For a second looking at his sad face, Mahi just thought of hugging him and saying 'it's okay' but before he could say something Rohit came there calling Virat and took Virat with him.

"Which flavour?", asked Rohit while deciding which cake they would order.

"Whichever is Mahi Bhai's favorite.", replied Virat thinking that Bhai was still angry and would not talk to him.

"Viiii, why are you thinking so much? Tu dekhna jab tu unhe wish karega na he will forget everything and hug you. He loves you after all.", said Rohit trying to cheer up his best friend.

"Yeah. Let's go now. We have prepare for the gifts too.", said Virat still unsure but he would still do everything to make his Mahi Bhai's birthday special.

"Is everything done?", asked Jinks and everyone nodded.

"But we didn't decide how will we call Mahi Bhai here?", said Kuldeep and everyone shrugged.

"Virat will do it!", said Rohit.

"Yeah. Virat would do that.", agreed Jinks and everyone else too.

"No, I won't.", said Virat with finality.

"But why?", asked Rohit.

"I have a different plan. I need your help, guys. Listen to me.........", Virat explained his plan to them.

"This is great!", exclaimed Jinks.

"Okay.. It's already 11:50. Let's call him."

Meanwhile, Mahi was sitting in his room watching TV thinking how come no one has come to his room once also in the entire day. It was next to impossible according to him.

These kids must be up to something again.

He thought they must be in Virat's room if not here.

"Good that he is not alone.", he said to himself knowing that Virat doesn't talk to anyone and lock himself up whenever he is upset with something.

He picked his phone to check something and that's when his eyes fell on the date and he realised it's his birthday tomorrow.. after ten minutes to be precise.

Okay so this was the reason none of them has shown up today.

He smiled fondly knowing he can be stupid enough to forget his own birthday but his brothers can't.

They must be coming now!

And he wasn't wrong as Hardik and Jassi entered his room in hurry.

"Mahi Bhai", they exclaimed together, "Come with us."

"Why and where?", asked Mahi Bhai.

"Woh.. Hotel is on fire!", blurted Hardik and Jassi hit his head on the nearest wall in his mind.

"What?", Mahi Bhai tried not to laugh at his try.

"Mahi Bhai, please come with us.", said Jassi and Mahi Bhai couldn't think of playing along with that kid.

"Okay.. ", said Mahi.

They took him to the area where they had organised everything. It was completely dark when they entered and Hardik and Jassi also left his side when they reached.

"Harry? Jassi? Where are you all?", asked Mahi standing there.

"He is smarter than us. He already knew we all are in this.", whispered Rohit and everyone chuckled.

"Ro? Jinks?", He asked again.

"10.. 9.. 8.. ", he heard a loud countdown and stood there smiling.

"Happy Birthday, Bhai!", he heard a voice beside him before the countdown was over.

He couldn't see the person because of dark but he perfectly knew the person this voice belonged to.

"Cheeku..", he whispered.

I couldn't write anything for Mahi Bhai's birthday so I thought why not to include it. I know his birthday is gone but we can still celebrate through the story.
