Chapter 17

I really hated when Agatha came over to do some manager business because she acted like she could control everything that happened in our home. She got mad when the home was even the slightest bit messy but we were literally five young adults living together. Did she honestly expect it to be so tidy?

Not only that, but she would constantly tell me and Aviva to stop sitting so close to each other. This was our home and Agatha had no right to control what happened there.

If she wasn't annoyed yet with us, she was going to be now.

Agatha was on a very important business call right now and since she was constantly telling me and Aviva not to sit too close to each, I think it was time to disrupt the call.

I got off of the couch and went to where our instruments were, picking up my electric guitar and plugging it into the amp. I turned it up before I began playing our new song quite loudly.

I could hear Agatha faintly saying my name but I just pretended I couldn't hear her at all.

Agatha finally had enough of my guitar playing, so she walked over and unplugged it from the amp. "Uh, rude," I said. "I'm practicing our new song."

"I was on a very important business call that I was hung up on," Agatha said.

"Then make the call at your house and not here," I said. "During our recording session, you were complaining that my guitar didn't sound good and I should practice more before we play it live."

"Which won't be for a while, and it might take even longer because of you," Agatha said. "That's what I was on the phone for. To see if I could book you five for a talk show where you can perform a song afterwards. You better hope I get an answer if I call them back."

Agatha was still holding the plug for the amp, so she pushed it into my hands before walking away, and I just sneered at her.

Before plugging the guitar back into the amp. I wasn't going to play it yet. I just had to wait until she was back on the phone.

Since Agatha was back to being absorbed in her phone, she didn't notice Ricky walking over to his drum kit and sitting on the stool in front of it. "She can't unplug my drums, can she?" he said, picking up his drumsticks. "Ready to make some noise?"

"I was born ready," I said.

Ricky looked at Agatha, making sure she was back on the phone before counting the both of us into the song.

Once again, Agatha got hung up on and she marched over to us, unplugging my amp once again but unfortunately for her, she couldn't stop Ricky from playing the drums so she had to wait for him to finish.

When he did, she said, "I just about had it with you too. You just lost the opportunity to go on a talk show and perform your new song. So you blew it with the rest of the band."

"Not really," Aviva spoke up. "This is our house. We practice here all the time so if anyone blew the opportunity, it's you for making the call here. We're not going to stop doing what we do just because you're here."

"Thank you, love," I said, knowing me calling my girlfriend love would only make Agatha more angry.

"I don't have time for this," she said. "The producers of the show isn't going to pick up a third time, so now I have to find something else for you to do with your time."

After she left, I smiled. "And that's how you get her mad. I say we're winning."

"Is it really worth it if we're just going to be sabotaging ourselves?" Otis asked. "Because we really did miss the opportunity to go on a talk show."

"Not yet," I said, pulling my cell phone out of my pocket and calling my older brother Alistair.

"What do you want, loser?" Alistair asked as soon as he answered his phone.

"You still want the job as our manager, right?" I asked.

"Don't tell me that evil witch quit," Alistair said. "Because that seemed highly unlikely."

"We're getting there," I said. "'To making her quit that is. We are currently sabotaging her and we need someone to work behind the scenes and fix the messes she makes because of us."

       "Like...?"

"Like getting us on a talk show after the producer hung up on her twice."

"Say no more. Do you know the talk show she was trying to get you on?"

"Uh, hold on," I said, removing the phone from my ear. "Anyone know the talk show Agatha was trying to get us on?"

"I heard her say Jenny's name," Junior said. "So I'm guessing JJ Live."

"Yeah, I heard Jenny's name as well," Aviva said. "And the set is here in Vancouver so that's probably it."

I brought the phone back to my ear. "She tried getting us on JJ Live."

       "Got it, you numpty."

       "You're such a bully."

"Says the one who texted me last night just to call me a man-whore."

"...In my defense, you called me a blighter the day before."

"So... You can call me a man-whore?"

"Yes. Okay, thanks, arsehole for the help. Bye!"

Once I hung up, Aviva spoke up and said, "I've known you and Alistair for nine years and I still don't understand your relationship. You literally asked him for helped, thanked him, and then cursed him out."

"It's his fault for being mean to me first," I said. "I'm the nicest brother in the world and he's so mean to me."

"Okay, I'm not even your brother and I know that's a lie," Ricky said.

"You don't get to talk," I said. "You're the most annoying one in the band."

"Now who's the mean one?" Ricky asked.

"Anyway," Otis said just so we wouldn't argue anymore. "Do you really think your brother will be able to get us the spot on the talk show even thought Agatha tried twice?"

"Oh, definitely," I said. "If there's one thing about Alistair, it's his charisma. He can get anything done."

And it wasn't even too long where I got the text message from him, saying that we were going to be on the show next Friday.

Of course, we weren't going to tell Agatha he was the one who got us on there. If we told her one of us did it, she wasn't going to appreciate it. She hated it when we tried, in her words, taking her job and doing what she should be doing.

I just hoped it wouldn't be long before she actually quit.
