A/N: just as Jaune was going to face a beating from Cardin, a large Ursa attacks. Jaune now has to do battle with the large grimm.

Jaune was punched on to the ground, groaning as he looked up and at the sap covered Cardin looming over him. The leader of team CRDL picked Jaune up by his front and grinned while punching him back to the ground again.

Cardin: You know that wasn't very smart, Jauney boy."

He picked up a bruised Jaune again while the rest of Team CRDL watches in amusement 

Cardin: I'm gonna make sure they send you back to mommy in teeny tiny pieces.

Jaune hung his head back.

Jaune: I don't care what you do to me...

He soon looked at Cardin with fury.

Jaune... but you are not messing with my team. Or (Y/N).

Cardin looked momentarily shocked before he got irritated.

Cardin: What? You think talk like that makes you tough? You think you're a big strong man now?

Jaune just smiled in defiance. An enraged Cardin yelled and raised his fist again, ready to punch Jaune once again. But just as the hit connected, a bright light shined from Jaune, and when the light faded, Cardin was crying out in pain as he held his hand. Jaune, now back on the ground but completely healed, looked confusedly at his hands as they were faintly glowing white. Just then, Sky kicked Jaune in the back and got him on his stomach. Jaune looked up and glared at the approaching Cardin.

Cardin: Let's see how much of a man you really are...

Just as he said that, him and the rest of the boys heard a growling house. They all turned around in surprise to see a very large and spikier version of an Ursa known as an Ursa Major. It possessed a ton of jagged spikes that were sticking out of it's back. It leaped forward and stood over the terrified students. Soon it lifted it's head in the air to smell the sap on Cardin's breastplate. It lands back on its forelegs and roars at Cardin while his teammates heroically flee.

Russel: That's a big Ursa!

Cardin was rooted to the spot when the Grimm swung it's claws and knocked him sideways. Jaune was cowering behind him as The Ursa continued to sniff. It seemed uninterested in Jaune and followed it's nose to Cardin. He watched as it towered over Cardin, who got his wits and pulled out his mace weapon only to hqve swiped away to Jaune's feet by the monster. He looked so conflicted on whether to fight the large grimm or run away.

(Meanwhile).

As you and the members of team RWBY and JNPR were still collecting sap, you heard the roar of the The roar of the giant Ursa.

Ruby: uh.......... Did you guys hear that?

(Y/N): yeah...it sounded big.

Suddenly, the remaining members of Team CRDL were running the other way from the roar through you and the other students.

(Y/N): what the?!

Russel: Ursa! Ursa!"

Russel accidently ran into Yang. However, she was completely unfazed by the collision and picked him up by his front shirt.

Yang: What?! Where?

Russel was struggling while running in air as he pointed back from where he and  the others cake from.

Russel: Back there! It's got Cardin!

Pyrrha dropped her jar of sap.

Pyrrha: Jaune!

(Y/N): oh no!

Ruby: Yang! You and Blake, go get Professor Goodwitch!

Yang nodded before dropping Russel and heading off with Blake to get Glynda.

Pyrrha: You two, go with them! There could be more!

She yelled to Ren and Nora as they all activated their weapons.

(Y/N): we better hurry before that thing turns Jaune into a meal.

Ruby: Right!

You, Ruby, Weiss and Pyrrha all ran to the direction of where Jaune and Cardin were.

(Meanwhile).

Back with jaune, Cardin was attempting to run from the following Ursa, but it leaped over the tall male student and clawed at him. He tried to get up and crawl away.

Cardin: Crap! Crap, crap!

You and the girls arrived at the spot just as the Ursa was about to attack.

Pyrrha: Oh, no!

You all watched as the Ursa leaned over the helpless victim. It raised it's paw and swiping it down, only to be blocked by Jaune's shield, Crocea Mors. He struggled to defend a stunned Cardin from its attempts to lean on him, but Weiss lifts Myrtenaster as she prepares to go help.

Pyrrha: Wait!

Weiss: huh?

Jaune took the shield out from the Ursa's paw and slashed at it's stomach, causing the bear like beast to lash out and try to crush him. Jaune rolled out of the way and jumped over it's swipe at his feet, but he was unprepared for when it launched a claw at him in midair. The young blonde landed far away, yet he was immediately back on his feet and passing Cardin as he charged again. The Giant Ursa knocked Jaune behind it when he tried for a leaping attack, and he looked at the Scroll in his shield to find out that his Aura level is in the red. Jaune growled angry again and started to run at the Ursa as it also began to dash towards him.

(Y/N): damn it, Jaune's gonna get killed!

Just as you were about to go help, Pyrrha stopped you.

Pyrrha: Wait!

(Y/N): what do you mean, wait?

Just as Jaune and the large Ursa were just about to clash with each other, Pyrrha saw that Jaune has left himself completely open to the Ursa's attack, and lifted her hand out to him. She gathered dark red energy in her arm and Just as the Ursa was about to hit Jaune, a dark glow surrounded his shield and made it lift up to block the swipe. Jaune used the surprise defensive move to lean on the ground as pushed his shield back up and swing his blade right through the Ursa's neck. The beast's head soon came off as blood gushed from the whole in it's neck before the entire body slammed to the ground.

(Y/N): wow.....0_0

You, Ruby and Weiss looked at Pyrrha's hand and amazed.

Ruby: Uhhh... What?

Weiss: How did you...?

Pyrrha: Well, Ruby has her speed, you have your glyphs. My Semblance is polarity.

Ruby: Whoa, you can control poles...

Weiss: No, you dunce! It means she has control over magnetism!

(Y/N): incredible, control over any metal materials.

Ruby: Magnets are cool, too...

Weiss then noticed Pyrrha starting to leave.

Weiss: Wait, where are you going?

Ruby: Yeah! We gotta tell them what happened!

Pyrrha: We could... Or perhaps we could keep it our little secret?"

She walked away again as Ruby and Weiss smiled to each other in understanding. You soon smiled as well. Jaune then sheathed his weapon before going over to Cardin, who looked up as Jaune offered his hand. Cardin smiled as he took it and was lifted back up on his feet.

Cardin: Holy crap, Jaune!

Jaune then spoke in a threatening tone.

Jaune: Don't ever mess with my team...... my friends.......ever again.

He said as he stared Cardin dead in the eye

Jaune: Got it?

Cardin looked intimidated and even a bit apologetic as he nodded. With that, Jaune turned and started to walk away from a frozen Cardin. You would soon approached Jaune and him on the shoulder.

Jaune: so, how was that?

(Y/N): you did good, Jaune. you did good.

(TimeSkip).

Later that night, on top of the dorm building, a Jaune stood on the edge and looked into the distance at the green lights of Beacon.

Pyrrha: No Cardin tonight?

Pyrrha said as she walked to his side.

Pyrrha: I thought you two were best buds?

Jaune soon turned to her.

Jaune: Pyrrha... I'm sorry. I was a jerk! You were only trying to be nice, and... I had all this stupid macho stuff in my head....

Pyrrha: Jaune! It's okay!

She said and they soon smile smile at one another.

Pyrrha: Your team really misses their leader, you know.

She began to walk to the exit.

Pyrrha: You should come down! Ren made pancakes! No syrup, though. you can thank Nora for that!

Jaune smiled as he holds out his hand and calls out to Pyrrha.

Jaune: Wait!

She turned around to now sheepish looking Jaune.

Jaune: I know I don't deserve it after all that happened, but... would you still be willing to help me... to help me become a better fighter?

Pyrrha turned around so Jaune wouldn't see her satisfied smile. She went up to Jaune and suddenly pushed her leader to the ground.

Jaune: Hey!

Pyrrha stood over him with her arms on her hips as she spoke in an evaluating tone.

Pyrrha: Your stance is all wrong. You need to be wider and lower to the ground.

She offered him her hand, which he graciously accepted. The two continued to hold on to and grin at each other before Pyrrha spoke again.

Pyrrha: Let's try that again.

You were levitating high in the air as you saw what was going on.

(Y/N): heh. You'll be a hunter someday, Jaune. You've already Taken your first step.

You said before flying back to team rwby's dorm.
