Luigi's POV

After a few more weeks, Christmas Eve came. It was a really brisk day in that December day, my brother and I still had one more house to go to before we closed for the holidays.

The Marios always had this philosophy, that we would always have services even on Christmas Eve. Momma, when we were little, still worked at the Italian Restaurant until 5pm Christmas Eve, and Poppa, he would be working in his plumber shop to that time too.

So we kept that tradition of working until 5pm on Christmas Eve.

We arrived at the apartment complex in SoHo. Once we got out of the truck, we could really feel the cold.

"Let's-a hurry, Luigi. I don't want to get frostbite from the bitter cold out here." Mario said as he jumped out of the truck.

"We just have one sink. Just one job, and that's it. We can go home to a Christmas Eve dinner with our family and friends." I said, trying to make Mario think positively.

"I'm so glad it's the last job, or I am going to turn into a popsicle!" Mario said as he opened the door to come in. The door man greeted us.

"Hello Luigi and Mario, I bet you are here for Miss Lacy up in floor 11. I'll let her know you are here." He said as he started picking up the phone and calling upstairs.

After the door man gave us the okay, we headed up the elevator and came to room 882. We knocked on the door and we were greeted by a frantic lady at the door.

"Oh thank goodness you came! Please quickly fix this, I need my sink to work, since I'm going to have company in a little while." She said as we went inside.

Daisy's POV

This cold winter day in December was not too bad in the apartment. We were all nice and warm. Willow was sleeping in her crib, and Peach and I were in the kitchen playing Rummy, listening to the local classic rock station.

Peach and I were in sweaters, drinking tea and playing with cards while the sweet sounds of guitar filled the room.

"I'm just glad this radio station is not everything Christmas, unlike most." I said as I threw away a two of hearts.

"Me too! I like Christmas music, but there is a limit." Peach said as she picked up the two and placed two more next to it, next to her.

"So, Momma Mario is coming back for Christmas?"

"Of course, Peach. Also with her sister, Aunt Luigiana."

"Aunt Luigiana? Is that where Luigi got his name?"

"I doubt it. But Luigi did say she looked a little like him." I said with a little laugh and Peach smiled.

Then there was a knock on the door. I got up and opened the door and there was Momma Mario and a woman who looked a little like Luigi with her.

"Daisy! How are you my dear? And how is Willow?"

"Good, come in Momma." I said and she came in with the other woman.

"Daisy, meet Aunt Luigiana. This is my sister." She said as she introduced the woman.

"It's nice to meet you. I'm Daisy and this is my sister-in-law Peach."

"So you are Daisy, the one who just had a baby. You are very pretty. I can see why so Luigi was smitten." Aunt Luigiana said.

"Would you and Momma Mario like some tea? I can start the kettle."

"That-a sounds good!" Aunt Luigiana said as she took off her coat.

"How are my nephews?"

"Good, right now they are out on the job until 5."

"Ah! They are-a keeping the tradition alive!" Momma said as she took off her coat and placed it on the rack.

"Yep, I figured they would. My sister would always work until 5. I didn't."

"What did you do for work, Aunt Luigiana?"

"I was-a seamstress. I would make-a costumes and other clothes."

"Oh that sounds so cool! Do you still sew?"

"For a hobby, mostly. It's been-a hard since Wario and Waluigi..." she said, she now wore a face of sadness.

"Of course that's why Ann here missed her granddaughter's birth. Just because she went with me to see my boys again..." I gave her a cup of tea and she nodded, thanking me for the cup.

"It will be okay, Aunt Luigiana, you are among family here. We are all here for you." I said as I handed a cup of tea to both Peach and Momma Mario.

"I appreciate it, Daisy. Thank you."

"Don't worry about it. Now would you and Momma like to play some cards?"

"Yes! Let's play a little Rummy!"

Momma Mario started shuffling and dealing as a song was interrupted by a important news interruption.

"A snow storm is spreading across SoHo district. Please exercise caution when driving. Streets may be blocked soon because of this terrible storm. Please stay inside." The DJ said from the radio.

"Oh no! Mario and Luigi have a job in SoHo." I said as I went to look for my phone. I started typing a message to Luigi.

Daisy: Are you okay, hun? I just heard there is a storm heading your way.

Luigi: Yes, we are. Mario is driving, streets are getting bad, but we are almost out of SoHo.

Daisy: Good, be safe. Love you, Luigi.

Luigi: Love you too, Daisy. Did Momma and Aunt Luigiana make it to the apartment?

Daisy: Yes, they are here right now, worrying about you and Mario.

Luigi: Please tell them that we are okay. Crossing the bridge soon. Traffic is backed up.

Daisy: Ok hun, please keep me posted.

Luigi: Of course. Love you, Daisy

Daisy: Love you too, Luigi. Be safe

I got off my phone and told everyone what I learned. Everyone is relieved for a bit, but both Aunt Luigiana and Momma Mario crossed themselves.

"We need to hope the boys get home safe." Momma said as she threw away a card.

"They will be okay, Mario is driving."

Then I got a call from Luigi.

"Hello?"

"Hi, Daisy. We are stuck on the bridge at the moment. We are going to be helping people that are stuck in the snow. I just wanted to call you to tell you to wish us luck and I love you."

"Luigi, don't talk like that..."

"I just wanted to say that just in case we can't get back home tonight. I love you."

"I love you too, Luigi, but you are coming back to me, I know it."

And he lost signal...

Luigi, you are coming home in one piece.
