There are few things I hate, but carrots and girls named Sam are definitely on that list. Carrots, because when I was seven I ate nothing but carrots for two weeks because I thought I then wouldn't have to wear glasses. It just turned my skin orange. And girls named Sam, because of my best friend. But then again, if you confessed your love for someone and they told you they were dating someone else but they loved you too, wouldn't you hate them?

"Elyes, you have to quit moping sometime." My cousin Toby groans from his spot on my bed. I ignore his whining, keeping up my constant typing. Why are all the posts about heartbreak aimed towards girls?

"Go away Toby." I growl, accidentally closing my browser tab. My laptop switches to desktop. My background is a picture of Sam wearing my favorite hat laughing. I slam my laptop lid jumping out of my chair.

"Whoa there Elyes!" Toby yelps sitting up. I breath deeply curling my hands into fists. I groan pressing my head against the wall.

"What's wrong with me Toby?" I ask feeling my eyes begin to burn. I can hear the bed springs squeak as Toby stands up.

"Absolutely nothing Elyes O'Brien!" Toby growls, grabbing my shoulder and forcing me to face him. The tears fall freely and for once I don't make a move to stop them.

"Then why is she with him? She told my she loves me, and yet she's with another guy." I whimper, burying my face in my hands. Arms wrap around me as Toby pulls me into a hug.

" 'Cause Elyes, she thinks that it wouldn't work between you. Or that he is better for her in the long run. Don't be like a girl in a cheesy romance novel, don't go back to her when she sees your the best thing that ever happened to her," Toby pulls away from the hug looking me in the eye. "I don't care if you think I'm sexist for saying this, she isn't worth your time! Because if she can't see what a great guy you are now, she isn't worth the effort."

I may hate girls named Sam, but I love boys named Toby.
