⊱ AGE ⊰
will vary; I'll say the ripe age of 26 for now.

⊱ GENDER ⊰
Transgender male to female.
≺ she ; they ≻

⊱ HEIGHT ⊰
5'5" or 165 cm if she was human, but her tentacles are very long. She can reach 20ft.

⊱ SPECIES ⊰
Cecaelian or Kraken. Half human, half octopus.

⊱ DIMENSION ⊰
Aqualillia.

⊱ APPEARANCE ⊰
Aishwarya Rai

One of the most stunning parts of Valo is her grey-violet eyes. Despite being a woman of color, her eyes are a rare shade typically unseen— they glow purple in the night.

Above her almond eyes are a thin pair of brows, and below is a sculpted, almost aquiline nose with a flattering front view, but not an ideal side profile. With a narrow jawline and high cheekbones, she is quite attractive. Her lips are pouty and heart shaped, light magenta in the center and dark towards the edges— her bottom lip is slightly larger than the top, with a prominent cupid's bow. Tapering corners allow her other features to show equally well, setting soft beauty throughout her face. Her chin dips in slightly.

Her hair is a midnight purple, starting from a widows peak— her parents had tentacles but she takes after her grandfather's human hair. She has moments where she loves and dates it— human hair is more beautiful than tentacles but tentacles prove more useful in combat.

Her chest is full and rounded— to her, it's a useless lump of fat. Valo's waist curves in, showcasing a flat stomach. She loves her hips though, not for their width (they aren't wide anyways), but for her V-cut and protruding bones.

From waist down, she's tentacles (she can still mate though), and beneath them are flaps of webbed skin. Matching her purple hair, the outer sides of the eight tentacles are dark, while the undersides are lighter with suction cups. Male octopuses often use stripes to attract females, so ironically enough, Valo is attracted to stripes.

Her fingers are claws by the way.

When Valo spent her days deep on the ocean, she wore seaweed to cover her bosom or nothing at all. She hates clothes, and tends to walk around wearing a bra. She wears nothing below.

Below her chest on the sides of her ribs are gills, flaps of skin which she breaths from when underwater. Her skin itself seems to have a purple tint.

Over her arms and hips are stripes of black, ones she recently developed.

Fun fact: she bleeds blue-green blood, has two hearts, and can taste with the suckers on her tentacles. (That means she tastes the dirt floor if she walks with her suckers down, which she doesn't typically do. While walking, her tentacles curve in.)
Another fun fact:
Bïtch is heavy as fûck, but her tentacles also don't have bones.

⊱ ABILITIES ⊰
• Night Vision— she can see in the darkness of the ocean clearly.
• Amphibious respiration— just like Lorelai she can breathe in both air and water.
• Cold immunity— the lower one travels into the ocean, the colder it becomes.
• Pressure resistance— again, ocean.
• Regeneration— if she loses a tentacle, no probs, she can grow it back. Only tentacles— not her real arms.
• Venomous saliva.
• Bioluminescence— she glows in the dark.
• Camouflage— she can blend into her environment, including her upper human body.
• Ink— her main form of attack is the ink she develops and shoots from the same area she shoots water in order to swim.
• She can perceive the movement of/on a body of water, and can determine where threats are located in aquatic environments and water sources.
• Water manipulation.
• Whirlpools and strong currents.
• Her tentacles are essentially limbs she can use, and are stronger than any other part of her.
• She does have fangs.
• Suction cups on her tentacles and webbed hands allow her to easily climb surfaces.
• Each tentacle literally has a mind of its own— she can crack a shell open with one, while choking someone with another, while drinking tea with the other. (A regular octopus can move their tentacles that way too.)
• I feel like I need to include weaknesses: she, like Lorelai, needs a daily dose of water; she is stronger in water and therefore weaker on land; she can only manipulate, not generate, water. Unlike Lorelai, she can not shift and permanently has her tentacles.

⊱ WEAPONS ⊰
• She uses a spear, and has a grey harness strapped to her back for maximum speed when swimming. (Lorelai is a faster swimmer actually.)
• Claws, tentacles, fangs, ink.

⊱ PERSONALITY ⊰
Two faced in a good way. Well, whatever do you mean by that, TGG?

Valo keeps to herself when placed in an environment she isn't familiar with, and this increases when she is with people she has difficulty relating to. Taking the first initiative to speak to others is not a strong point, and she has to mentally prepare herself for situations like that prior to entering an unfamiliar area.

But if she has already developed friendships, is familiar with the environment, or can relate to those around her, Valo blossoms into a much more interactive person. She will not shy away from discussions and suddenly, she is able to introduce herself to complete strangers.

Unfamiliarity and change bring fear to her, but people allow her to stand strong.

As if two different people, she can be fearless or cowering. It truly depends on the situation. For example, since she was not here to meet everyone, Valo would have stayed to herself until she saw Lorelai— another sea creature. She would have tried to talk, and that would allow her to open up further.

Now once her initial layer of protection is broken, she is revealed to be a wild woman, constantly laughing and cracking jokes that really aren't funny. She can be loud and words will constantly spew from her mouth, weaving entertaining stories or sad fairy tales unheard of before.

Valo will either reveal too much information about herself or nothing at all— there is no in between to how expressive she can be. When she trusts someone enough, she may share her whole story.
At a glance, she does seem to easily trust other, but this is yet another layer. She considers how others view her— and such often keeps her from revealing anything at all, too afraid of rejection.

But even the party side of her is a layer to her personality. Further below, she is more of an introvert and values time spent alone. Either way, in truth she's an ambivert, who at times will need to be around others, and sometimes is unable to take it. It depends on her emotions.

Speaking to others is often an escape from the cruel situations which appear in life— things such as anxiety, stress, and depression. People can be her escape, but they may also be the cause.

Perhaps that's why she loves the depth of the ocean so much. There, she can curl up in the darkness and feel the cool touch of the water, away from all other creatures, but with the other Cecaelia.

⊱ BACKSTORY ⊰
Valo's parents were both Cecaelia with tentacles who had had an arranged marriage, and decided to raise their child where they grew up; hence, she lived a large portion of her life in the bottom of the sea.

But at 12, she developed a crush towards a half-human half-seahorse creature. Her parents were loving, successful, and financially stable, but they were not accepting. She never had to worry much in life, but above all, Valo valued freedom.

When she gushed to her mother about her crush, the woman grew angry and immediately told Valo, "Octavia you can not fall in love with a seahorse! Let alone another woman, how disgusting!"

Valo was supposed to not only marry a octopus, but a male one specifically of her own species. Her parents were not only homophobic, but were against every other sea creature. She could only be friends with other Cecaelia.

She realized how that type of mindset was negative, and after suffering through a year of intense depression— hating herself for wanting to love a woman (bisexual), for wanting to develop a relationship with someone other than her own species— she learned to love. Her parents, she discovered, were toxic.

Three years later, at 15, she took her father's spear and left home, swimming across the ocean and traveling higher up. It was difficult for her to adjust to the pressure changes, but eventually she developed an immunity towards them.

As a nocturnal animal, it was difficult to stay awake too. But much of the ocean ran during the daytime, so she had no choice. Valo has now forced herself to be something between a night and day animal, but it is a system which has worked for her. Adjusting to the daylight was the most difficult of all the adversity she faced, and she almost went blind in the process.

Sharks made up her most frightening encounters, but even some of them wet  kind. Valo learned the see the best in people.

Either way, she tried to create a life on her own. She jumped from home to home, and her friend eventually brought her to the surface, where she learned to walk for the first time.

Valo has not heard back from her parents, but she is grateful to them for having raised her. She has never once regretted her decision of leaving, though she feels undeniably bad for putting pressure on friends and even sea creatures who were strangers.
