Your POV:

"Garroth!! You'll never catch me!" I said, running through the woods.

"Oh really?" Garroth asked from behind me.

I sped up, hopping over an old, mossy tree trunk, and dodging a few trees.

I looked around me, trying to spot Garroth. I couldn't hear his footsteps behind me, but I knew that I could not stop running yet.

I zipped passed the old oak tree and continued to run. However, once I got to the boulder near the bench we built last Summer, I stopped, searching for Garroth, scanning the forest for any sign of him.

"Ha, looks like I've won this one," I murmured to myself.

Just then, I felt a strong pair of arms wrap around my waist and pick me up. I smiled as Garroth placed me on his shoulders, my legs dangling by his head on either side of his face.

"It looks like I've won this one," Garroth whispered.

"Put me down, Garroth!" I exclaimed, giggling.

"-And why would I do that?" he asked.

"-because I'm your bestest friend in the whole wide world?" I said. "Pleaseeeeee?" I asked, bending my head over to look into his eyes.

Garroth kissed my forehead, which was hanging upside down above him. "Okay, fine," he whispered. Garroth bent down a little and helped me off of his shoulders.

My feet hit the ground and I stood up straight, looking up into Garroth's eyes.

"Dang it! Why did you have to beat me?" I asked.

"I don't know. Maybe, next time, you shouldn't run as slow as a sloth," Garroth teased.

I glared at him, punching his shoulder playfully.

"Hey!" Garroth said, smirking. Garroth looked into my E/C eyes, studying my face. "Y-you k-know, you l-look really b-beautiful today," Garroth said, smiling.

I blushed. Even if Garroth just meant it in a friendly, and not a "romantic" way, I was still overwhelmed with emotion. I was used to Garroth calling me beautiful because he did it all time. It was fine for him to call me that, even if we weren't a couple, because we were best friends, and had been for years.

I felt my face heat up. I pulled a strand of my hair behind my ear. "T-Thanks, Garroth," I said, trying to keep my composure. I had to hide my feelings for Garroth at all costs.

There was a moment of silence, and everything seemed to slow down. Garroth leaned in a little bit, and, I thought that he was about to kiss me.

Was Garroth really about to kiss me? I couldn't believe it. Did he actually like me back?

I leaned in a little bit, just to be sure. We were so close that I could see every single little detail on Garroth's face. I could see every shade of blue in his eyes. We lingered there for a moment.

Garroth bit his bottom lip. His piercing blue eyes flickered towards my lips, and then back into my eyes.

Garroth leaned in, our lips about to meet. However, just as I fluttered my eyes closed, the moment was lost. There was the noise of a branch snapping behind us, and we both snapped around to look at what direction it came from.

It was a squirrel. I officially despise squirrels.

Garroth turned back around and smiled at me. He then cleared his throat awkwardly. "Do you wanna go to the bench?" He asked.

"Sure," I said, smiling back.

Ten minutes later...

Garroth fidgeted a bit in his seat. It looked like something was on his mind. I didn't know if it was just because it seemed awkward now between us, but I couldn't tell. Before we came here, he seemed... Off. He seemed, sad, upset, like something was bothering him. He's been acting a bit weird all day.

"Garroth, are you okay?" I asked.

"Yes.... No, actually, I'm not."

"Why? What's the problem?" I asked.

"I don't know if I should say. It's a secret of mine..."

"Garroth, we've been friends for almost 12 years! You can tell me anything. You can trust me," I said. We were sitting on the bench we built in the woods last Summer.

I met Garroth in Kindergarten. Me and him immediately became close friends. We met a few other people in Kindergarten, like Aphmau and Katelyn, but me and Garroth had always been best friends.

Garroth sighed, looking off into the distance, his blue eyes seeming lost.

I shook my head, not knowing what to do. Something was off about Garroth. He wasn't acting like his usual playful self.

I hated seeing Garroth like this. Of course, we've been friends for 12 years, but, sometimes, I wished that we were more than friends. Actually, I take that back. I always wish that we could be more than friends, that we could be a couple. However, I'm sure that Garroth doesn't feel the same way. After all, Garroth told Laurence yesterday that I'm practically a sister to him... And sisters don't make girlfriends.

"Garroth... Please," I whispered. I tried to look into those deep blue eyes of his, but Garroth looked away, avoiding eye contact with me.

I frowned, looking towards the ground.

He turned to me, finally looking at me. However, once he saw my frown, his own frown deepened.

"I'm sorry, Y/N, it's just that-" Garroth sighed. "I just, don't know if I should tell you."

"You can trust me with anything, Garroth," I said.

Garroth remained silent.

"It's okay. I understand..." I said, trailing off.

"-Do you promise not to freak out?" Garroth asked.

I looked up, gazing into Garroth's eyes. "Of course," I said.

Garroth fiddled with his hands, fidgeting a bit as a bead of sweat dripped down his forehead. "W-Well, I-I really l-like this g-girl a-at our s-school..." Garroth stuttered.

I felt my heart rip to shreds, shattering into a million pieces.

I guess he wasn't actually going to kiss me. He was probably leaning in to look at something, or to whisper something.

I sighed.

"Oh," was all I could manage to say.

Garroth likes someone else...

I felt like I was going to vomit. All I wanted to do was to go cry in a corner for hours on end. Now, being the nice friend I am, I'm going to get him with this girl, and I'm going to live with a broken heart for the rest of my life.

"Y-Yeah. She's r-really s-sweet and amazing... And s-stunning. She's j-just... Perfect..." Garroth said, smiling at me. Garroth blushed, looking away to hide it.

"You must really like this girl..." I said.

Garroth nodded. "-And I really need your help asking her to be my girlfriend. S-So, would you help me?"

I used all of my strength left to smile, trying to hide my pain inside. "Of course, Garroth. Anything for you."

"G-Great! I'm going to do it tomorrow. I-I'm really nervous. W-What if she says no? Gah! I'm s-such a mess. I'm s-so scared," Garroth went on to say.

All I wanted to do was to make Garroth happy. If the only way to do that was to sacrifice my own happiness, then I would.

"I'm sure it will be fine, Garroth. Who could say 'no' to you? You're Garroth Ro'meave!" I said, trying to encourage him.

Garroth smiled. "Thanks, Y/N."

"No problem! Now, let's go set up your whole "asking-her-to-be-your-girlfriend" thing," I said.

The Next Day, before school...

"Okay, so, Y/N, I just put a note in her locker, saying to meet me inside of the gym after school. All you need to do is go into the gym after school, and read this letter to her," Garroth said, handing me a letter.

"Wait. How will I know who I should give it to? I mean, what if someone else walks in?" I asked.

"It's Aphmau that I like. So, j-just look for her," Garroth said.

I frowned, hearing Aphmau's name in that sentence, and not mine.

"-And you want me to read this to her, correct?" I asked.

Garroth nodded his head.

"That's all I have to do?" I asked.

"Y-yeah," Garroth said, smiling at me. Garroth embraced me, wrapping his arms around my waist and pulling me close. "Thanks, Y/N," he whispered, pulling away. Then, he started to walk away, leaving me with my broken heart.

"Well, w-wish me good l-luck, o-okay?" He asked, his face a bright red.

I smiled. "Okay, Garroth. Good luck!"

After school...

I walked into the completely empty gym, a fake smile on my face, my heart churning.

I held the letter, closed with a little red heart sticker. Sighing, I walked to the center of the gym, to wait for the one and only, Aphmau.

Finally, I saw her walk in, her perfectly curled hair bouncing as she walked. No makeup, and she was gorgeous. She had beautiful brown eyes, and I already knew that she was one of the most kind people in the school.

When I saw her, I smiled.

"Hello, Aphmau," I said.

Aphmau smiled back, standing right in front of me.

"I got a note to be here. Am I in the right place?" Aphmau asked.

"You sure are! Now, I'm going to read this letter from someone who wants to ask you a very important question. In the end, you'll find out who is asking that question," I said.

Aphmau beamed with joy. She would be perfect with Garroth. Garroth deserves a good person like her.

I heard the music beginning to play in the background. It was something that Garroth added to all of this.

I opened the letter, and began to read for Aphmau. I didn't see the point in me reading it to her, but oh well.

"Dear beautiful,

For many years now, I have been in love with you. We have had so many memories together. I still remember when I first realized that I was in love with you. We were with some friends, and we went to go get ice cream in the beginning of 9th grade. All of the girls were wearing dresses, except I couldn't keep my eyes off of you. Katelyn asked if you looked nice in the dress, and I started blushing. That day, I told Katelyn that I had a crush on you, and I've been hiding it from you ever since. I didn't want to say anything because I thought it would ruin our friendship. However, I can not contain these feelings anymore.

You are the most amazing girl that I've ever met. You're kind and sweet, brave and strong. You're brilliant and clever. You're witty and hilarious. You are stunning. You are gorgeous. You are everything to me. You bring out the best in me, and you can always find a way to make me smile. You may be a little bit weird, but to me, you're perfect..."    I began to read. I felt like crying. These words are to Aphmau, and not to me. She is his everything. She makes him smile every day. Not me...

Not me.

I do remember the time that we all went for ice cream in 9th grade, with Aph and Katelyn. We were wearing dresses. That was the day I realized that I was in love with Garroth, but that was also the day that Garroth realized that he was in love with Aphmau.

Then, I continued to read. However, as I read, my expression changed, seeing the neat words written out on the paper. I did not read it out loud, simply in my head.

When we were sitting on the bench  in the woods, yesterday, I realized just how lucky I am to have you as my best friend. You are amazing. Thank you for everything, Y/N. My heart belongs to no other, except you.

Now I'm going to say something I've wanted to say for years.

So, turn around.

I froze, unable to move. My heart was racing, pounding against my chest at a million beats per minute. This was all a set up. Aphmau was flipping in on this.

I slowly turned around, my heart exploding.

I don't think I've ever smiled so much in my entire life. My cheeks were starting to hurt.

There Garroth stood, wearing a black tuxedo with a sky blue tie to match his eyes. He held a bouquet of red roses in his hands, my face almost identical to their color.

I covered my face with my hands, feeling like my face would fall off if I smiled anymore. I couldn't believe that this was happening. I felt like I was going to cry of joy.

"Y-Y/N, my best friend in the whole wide world, I l-love you..." Garroth said, stepping forward, so that he was standing directly in front of me. I stepped towards Garroth as well, my hands over my mouth, still surprised by all of this. "Y/N L/N, will y-you b-be my girlfriend?" Garroth asked, trying not to stutter.

I did not answer with words. In one swift movement, I moved the bouquet out of the way, wrapped my arms around Garroth's neck, and smashed my lips against his.

Garroth opened his eyes wide as I fluttered my eyes closed, pulling him closer. Garroth sunk into the kiss, wrapping his arms around my waist and kissing me back, moving his lips in rhythm with mine.

His lips were soft, warm. The kiss was passionate, and it lit me up like a firework, sending warmth through my whole body, lighting me up like a flame.

Garroth pulled me deeper into the kiss, smiling behind the kiss. I smiled back, pulling away for a second to speak.

"Yes, yes, a million times, "Yes"! Garroth Ro'meave, I would love to be your girlfriend," I exclaimed. I gave Garroth another quick kiss on the lips before saying, "I love you too, Garroth."

Garroth smiled sweetly. He pulled me in for another kiss, and he spun me around as he kissed me.

I laughed against his lips.

I've never been so happy in my life.

I love you, Garroth.
