For Halloween, Chat Noir decides to give his lady a bit of a fright. As the saying goes: it's trick or treat... and you're not always promised with a treat.

What he doesn't expect is for Ladybug to return the favor.

If Chat Noir had learned anything about being a superhero, it was that he was granted with incredible ability of stealth.

And what was the point of having such a gift if he was never able to use it for the purposes of fun?

Which is why, Chat Noir was currently perched on a certain rooftop as he patiently waited for his lady's arrival. This roof in particular was the place where he and Ladybug always met for their nightly patrols. When she arrived, however, he would spring out from his hiding place and scare her.

He hoped the clown mask he was currently wearing would do the trick.

Sure enough, Chat Noir smiled widely when he saw her red and black polka-dotted self swiftly making her way over towards him. He stayed perfectly silent as he watched her land, reel in her yo-yo, and stretch out her aching limbs.

He watched as Ladybug lowered herself into a seated position on the tin roof, her legs crossed in front of her and her arms rested behind her as a sense of support. He knew that she'd assumed he wasn't there yet.

But what she didn't know was that he was about to scare the spots right off her.

Chat Noir began his silent crawl, aware that even the metal along the tips of his boots made no sound whatsoever against the tin roof. He chuckled silently to himself, already picturing the look on his lady's face the moment he was able to frighten her.

And with that in mind, Chat Noir pounced.

His clawed hands came around her shoulders and he crackled in her ear, causing Ladybug to turn around and scream the moment she saw his ugly mask. It was clear to anyone who could've witnessed the scene that she genuinely hadn't expected him to come pouncing out of the darkness wearing a spooky clown mask.

Chat Noir couldn't help but double over in laughter as he watched Ladybug try to control her erratic breathing. There was no denying that he'd gotten her good. He removed the mask from his face and offered her a goofy grin, even stretching out his arms so that, if he needed to soothe her, he could take her into his arms. "Happy Halloween, Milady!"

He expected Ladybug to probably smack him across the chest, shouting at him for being such a horrible person for scaring her like that.

What he didn't expect was for her eyes to roll into the back of her head.

He barely had anytime to react as Ladybug's knees buckled, and she fell forward. He caught her in his open arms, a deep frown of concern immediately replacing his smile as he studied her closely. Moving her bangs to the side of her face and away from her eyes, Chat Noir stared down at her unsurely.

"Milady?" He shook her shoulder. "Are you okay?"

She offered him no response in return.

"Milady!" He shook both of her shoulders that time—a bit harder than he'd done before—and frowned even deeper when her eyes remained closed and her expression remained unresponsive.

He bent down to place his ear against her chest.

Chat Noir sighed in relief when he realized she was clearly still breathing, indicating that she was nowhere near the brink of death.

He knew his idea would've frightened her.

He just... hadn't expected her to fall unconscious because of it.

"Hey LB, wake up. It was just a joke."

Chat Noir reached to shake her shoulder again, watching as her head bobbed with his erratic movements.

"Milady seriously. I was just messing around."

When Ladybug still remained unresponsive to all of his movements, Chat Noir began to panic. Frightened, he pulled her into his lap. "Milady, please wake up. Seriously, you're really starting to freak me out."

He watched her lay unmoving with tears threatening to spill from his eyes.

Was it normal to be unconscious for this long?

That was one thing Chat Noir wasn't sure about.

He took in surroundings, frantically trying to figure out what he could do to get her wake up, or where he could take her to get some sort of response out of her.

Just when he'd come to the conclusion that he would take her to the hospital, he felt her stir in his arms.

And then, Ladybug's eyes snapped open and she let out a bellowed shout.

Chat Noir practically recuperated Ladybug's scream from earlier that evening when he'd been the one to first scare her. He quickly scrambled away from her and watched with a frightened look in his eye as Ladybug sat up, looked over at him, and offered him a sinister smile. "Happy Halloween, you asshole!"

Chat Noir found himself unable to do anything except stare at her... dumbfounded. "What the hell was that?" He asked, sounding completely breathless. "You almost gave me a heart attack, Ladybug!"

She rolled her eyes and stood back on her feet, brushing off her knees. "You deserved it after that little stunt you pulled! How do you think I felt when you suddenly sprung out of nowhere wearing some kind of Kabuki mask?"

"It was a clown mask! It wasn't even that scary!"

Ladybug rolled her eyes. "You should be grateful I didn't punch you in the face."

Chat Noir stood to his feet, still staring at her in complete disbelief. "I literally thought I was going to have to take you to the hospital! That was a low blow prank."

"Says the guy who literally scared me first."

Chat Noir pouted slightly. "Fine... I guess I sort of deserved that scare after the little prank I pulled." Then he paused. "But seriously, I was this close—" He pinched his thumb and index finger together, allowing them to barely touch each other. "—to performing mouth to mouth on you."

Ladybug turned to look over her shoulder at him, flashing him a wide smile. "I was breathing the entire time you idiot!"

"Cut me some slack! I was in a panicked state of mind!"

Ladybug laughed at that—genuinely laughed at that—and turned to fully face him, extending a hand out towards him. Somewhat reluctant, Chat Noir took it. She pulled him to sit down beside her, and he allowed his feet to dangle over the edge of the tin roof alongside hers.

"Here," she said, and his eyes widened the moment he saw the chocolate candy bar she was currently holding out for him. "I was going to give you this for Halloween, before you so rudely scared the shit out of me."

Chat Noir chuckled and tentatively took it from her hand. "This isn't poisoned, is it?"

Ladybug shoved his shoulder playfully. "Of course not, you doofus."

Chat Noir chuckled lightly to that and peeled the wrapper off of the chocolate bar. He then broke off a piece and extended it to Ladybug, who happily took it from his grasp. As they sat together under the midnight sky, the city as their view and each other as their company, Chat Noir decided he would never scare his lady like that ever again.

"Thanks for the chocolate, spooky spots."

Ladybug giggled loudly at the nickname, and the sound of her laughter alone was a treat in itself.

Happy Halloween you guys! Even if you don't celebrate it, I figured this would be a cute little ladynoir thing for you to nibble on... besides that Hershey kiss you got from the neighbor's house.
