Description

Zoe was distraught. She had few friends, but no love life. She watched her other friends, Kagami with Felix, Adrien with Marinette, Alya with Nino, Sabrina with Miles, Ethan with Juleka, Nathaniel with Chole, Max with Alix, and Kim with Odine. She felt like the only single girl on the entire planet.  She sighed as she sat afar off under a cherry blossom tree.

What happens when a certain guy drops by with an offer she can't refuse?

Zoe's POV:

I  sat under the cherry blossom tree watching most friends pass me by. They were all too busy for me.  It seems they were all couples. I was not a couple so I felt  I had nothing in common with them.

What was I to do?  I sighed. It was not like I had any ideas on how to find love.

I never was good at that kind of thing. To make matters worse, even my half-sister had found her someone special.  Was I destined to be alone forever?  To be the one girl who watched her friend and sister marry while she remained a single pringle?

I heard someone humming a tune as he sang. The words sounded lovely. I listened closer and realized he played the guitar as well. Who was it?  He sounded like a kind soul. Who belonged to this voice I heard?  Did he feel all alone in the world too?

"Hey, Zoe!" I heard someone say.  I looked up shocked to see Luka Cuffaine, Juleka's twin brother standing there.

"Luka, what brings you my way?" I asked.  "Well, I was playing music in the park, and singing along with it. I sensed someone was sad so I went to see who it was. I admit I was surprised to find it was you," He said.  "All my friends are busy with their dates!" I blurted out. "Oh, I see, I know how that feels," He said. "You do?" I asked. "Yes, I used to date Marinette, but I knew it was only a matter of time before she ended up with Adrien. She never did love me," He said with a sigh.

"I never knew that, I am sorry," I replied. "Oh, don't worry, it was years ago," He said. "I have gotten used to it by now," He added. "Still, that must have been hard knowing your ex-girlfriend is now dating a close friend of yours," I said.

"Zoe, I  am glad she is happy. " He said. "you are?" I asked. "Sure thing," He said.

"Listen, I was going to grab a coffee, and some snacks,"  Luka said.

"You were?" I asked in surprise. "Yes, and I was wondering, would you like to come?" He asked. "You look like you could use a friend," He added.

"Yes, I would like to come," I stated.  Luka grinned. I blushed. Why should I react this way?

The two of us enjoyed going to the coffee shop together. Luka paid for our drinks and snacks. I tried to protest, but he would not take no for an answer. I smiled. This was fun.

I felt cheered up by him.  I was glad he had come along when he had. Soon, I forgot all about why  I was sad. I had such a nice time with him.

After We finished our coffee and snacks, Luka invited me back to his boat. I agreed to go. Once there I almost lost my balance, but he caught me. "Steady there, Zoe," He said. He carried me to a seat and sat me in it. I laughed. " I could have walked you know," I said. "Sure whatever you say, Buttercup," He said. "Buttercup?" I asked. "Yes, it is my nickname for you because of your shiny, blonde, beautiful hair," He teased.  I blushed again. "I like it," I said.

"I knew you would," He said.  Luka sat beside me strumming his guitar. I grew tired and fell asleep listening to him play.

I did not know it but Luka sighed when he saw me doze off. This girl is something special, I better do all I can to treat her well, he thought.
