Chapter 17: Thank you for everything

The kiss lasted long before Jungkook pulled away, looking at Taehyung, who glanced at his lips before their eyes met again.

“Thank you for loving me, Taehyung, but I don't think I deserved your love. I killed people for money, and I'm not the person you should love. You deserve better – No, you deserve the best person who will love you. I can love you, but I can't be the best person.” Jungkook told him.

“Is that mean you are rejecting me?” Taehyung asked, looking at him with teary eyes.

“Even if I don't want to, do you think I will be able to accept your love?” Jungkook replied.

Tears fell on Taehyung's eyes, he felt pain in his heart.

“See, if you stay with me, I will only make you cry. I hate seeing you cry like this in front of me. So please, once you get out of this place, make sure to be happy without me, okay?” Jungkook said.

He was caressing Taehyung's cheeks to wipe off his tears, even though his hands were cuffed.

“How? How can I do that if I had to marry someone I don't even love, Jungkook? How can I be happy without you?” Taehyung sobbed.

“That's for you to find out, I'm sorry, I can't even make you happy for the last time.” Jungkook giggled.

“Can you – can you kiss me again?” Taehyung asked.

And without any hesitation, Jungkook put his lips on Taehyung. It was so gentle and passionate that made Taehyung doesn't want to pull out. He wanted to stay like this, he only wants Jungkook. But he knew, he had to pull away before their breath knock them out.

When they both pulled away, there was a string of saliva binding to their lips. Taehyung looked at Jungkook and smiled.

“Jungkook, once you're free, please make sure to change, okay? Don't kill people because of money, I'm sure there are a lot of opportunities outside. And if we meet again, I want to see you successful, do you understand?” Taehyung said, fondling Jungkook's collar.

“If that's what you say, I'll do that for you.” Jungkook chuckled.

“Thank you for everything, Jungkook, even though we've been together for a short time, I'm happy to be with you. I'm glad that you have mistaken me for someone else. I was able to find a person like you. We're destined to meet each other, but not fated to be together.” Taehyung smiled painfully.

“It's okay, at least we met each other.” Jungkook giggled.

Suddenly, the door was opened by the guards.

“Time's up, the visiting hours ended. So please, prepare to leave.”

“I'm sorry, I have to go now, Jungkook. This will be the last time I will see you. Goodbye.” Taehyung smiled.

“Goodbye, I hope to see you again.”

Jungkook left a peck on Taehyung's forehead before Taehyung left him alone.

He watched Taehyung go away, and his tears finally came out of his eyes. He was hiding the pain in his heart, he didn't want Taehyung to see that he was hurting the whole time.

He cried in the room, realizing the fact that Taehyung would never be his. Wow, the pain of love hits so hard. It felt like his heart crushing into pieces.

Why did he even fall in love with the right person, but at the wrong time?

Why does it hurt so much?

Why did their situation have to end up like this?

Letting go of him was the best for both of them, yet it hurts.

“So, you like that guy.” Taeui said while reading a tabloid.

“Will it matter to you if I say it to you? I'm sure you don't care about whatever I will say. After all, you will decide on your own.” Taehyung responded.

“You shouldn't have loved him, to begin with. Not because he's a guy but because of the fact he is a killer, Taehyung.” Taeui stated.

“I know that, but I can't help my heart. You are right, I'm stupid because I fell in love with him.” Taehyung retorted.

“If you stay with him, don't you realize that it will be dangerous for you? The police will chase him, no matter what happened. He's not capable of taking care of you.” Taeui told and looked at him.

He saw tears in his son's eyes that he hoped he won't see anymore.

“I know I'm a villain here to you, but Taehyung, I'm your father, I want the best for you. I know setting you up in an arranged marriage wasn't the best decision to do so, but it's better than letting you stay with him. Your status with him is so different, you are an open book, a social butterfly, will you be okay with a situation where you will hide all the time just to be safe because the person you love is a killer? Is that the situation you want?

Let's say that if it's not because of me who will inform the police, I'm sure they will get enough evidence to find him with or without my help. Even if you truly love him, that won't change the fact that he is a killer. Your love for him won't do anything.” Taeui explained to him.

His father got a point, right?

He didn't say anything wrong, but just to make him realize what kind of situation he was in.

“Taehyung, son, I am just protecting you. I don't want anything to happen to you. So, please, don't despise me for doing this. I'm sorry that you can't be with him, but I don't regret anything for what I did. In the end, I'm still your father who just wants nothing but the best for his son. I know it's hard for you, but Taehyung, you should forget him, you should let him go, so it won't hurt you anymore.”

Taehyung just cried, not knowing how to respond to that. Maybe, his father is right, he should forget Jungkook for his own best.
