Prologue: To Timid Poets 4

But sonnets oft intimidate the rest
Of us, who write, revise and try in vain,
When slips of scansion break the poet's best,
Compiling pain on pain to our disdain.
Despite it all, do keep this thought in mind:
That those supremes who mastered sonnetry,
Those brilliant poets of their age and kind,
(Francesco, Dante, Wyatt, Howard, ay,
And Chapman, Milton, Percy, Donne and Keats,
And Wordsworth, Edna, Sidney, Spenser sweet,
And Frost, Rossetti, Brooke and Owen, Yeats) *
Were once the worst ere their accomplished feat,
      Revising crookéd lines, improving skill,
And braving blockage by the force of will.

(To be continued...)

A/N: Please comment, or at least tell me why it sucks. Any criticism is better than none at all.
