Peggy's POV

It's Wednesday. I have to meet my secret admirer tomorrow! I'm really nervous, but also excited and curious.

I noticed Angelica when she walked into the school. She looked down as she walked. She was usually so confident. Eliza and Alex weren't in school... Again. I wonder where they are. Oh well, No time to worry about that now. Theo was shouting at Angie again. This time I dove behind a wall and listened.

Angie: I'm just saying, this was really bad timing for me, and I don't think I'm going to the dance on Friday.

Theo: What do you mean? I got you a date! I got you your dress! You gotta be there!

Angie: I didn't ask you to do any of that.

Theo: BUT I DID! It's DONE! AND YOU HAVE NO CHOICE!

I peeked out from the wall-- I had to be watching this.

Angie: I don't have to do anything--

Theo's fist connected with Angie's head-- right in the temple. Theo's knuckles were reddened from the impact. Angie sunk to the ground in agony. For a moment, she was terrifyingly unmoving. The crowd that had gathered was silent. Then Angie lifted herself only about an inch. Between gasps, she shouted, "You think you run this school. You're wrong. We can do anything we want to. We don't need your approval." She lifted herself to her feet, breathing heavily and slipping every couple seconds. "Who are you... To tell us... Who to be...?" She spoke in short bursts. "And... And.."

Theo gripped her fist and slammed Angie in the temple a second time. This time, Angie fell. And she didn't move. Everyone stood shocked for a moment. Slowly, I pushed my way through the crowd. I walked up to Angie and felt her wrist, then her mouth and nose. "She's not breathing! She's not breathing!" I screamed into the crowd. The spell was broken. The room descended into chaos. I lifted Angie and rushed her outside. This wasn't a job for the school nurse.

I frantically dialed 911, and when someone picked up I didn't even let them talk. I just screamed into the phone, "YO LISTEN UP, I GOT A GIRL HERE THAT ISN'T BREATHING, WE'RE AT MELORE HIGH SCHOOL GET OVER HERE NOW!!" I heard someone stutter an 'okay', and I hung up.

^3 hours later^

Beep... Beep... Angie was in the hospital in 'non stable' condition, whatever that means. I'd heard a lot of words floating around since getting here.

Brain damage...

Bruised skull...

Broken, bruised, hurt....

I honestly wish that people would just do their job instead of scaring me. I don't need to know everything. Her parents were here, and in turmoil, of course. Eventually, it was too much for me, and I left.

I walked down the street slowly. The sun shone brightly, and the happiness annoyed me. I knew that Laf was going to be Angie's date to the dance. I wondered where he was. Then I caught site of.... MARIAH, trying to pull him back into an alley. He was protesting strongly and pulling away. I ran over and pulled the two apart. "Mariah, what are you doing?" She was startled and scared, and I knew she must be doing something bad. I glanced into the alley and saw ropes, cloth, and a terribly made wooden wall. I turned to her skeptically. "So... How many people have you had back here?"

She started counting on her fingers. "Um... Him.... And him... And... Uh, yeah, him. 3-- no 4." I stared at her for a moment. "Seriously?! Let Laf go, alright?" He called to me, "Thank you, mon ami!" As he raced down the street. I turned to Mariah. "So," I asked.

"WHO have you had back here?"
