Mortal Kombat 9 was developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. All properties besides Y/N belong to these companies.

Not long after successfully rescuing Jax Briggs, they return to the island's arena with everyone taking their places. But this time Quan Chi is standing by Shang Tsung's throne.

One masked guard catches the eye of Raiden. He gasps in surprise and receives another vision, this one reveals Kung Lao running at Baraka. Raiden realises who the guard truly is and gestures Y/n that he'll be gone for a moment. He nods and Raiden leaves his place to confront him.

Shang: "Kombatants! The next match will now begin!"

In a burst of hellfire, Scorpion teleports into the arena. Johnny Cage gasps in awe, and even Liu Kang looks impressed. Y/n however thinks he looks... Familiar.

Shang: "Scorpion! Specter of the Netherrealm! Resurrected by the sorcerer Quan Chi! Who among you is worthy of this challenge?"

Scorpion: "Where is the Lin Kuei Sub-Zero? He killed my family and clan. I will have his head!"

This made Y/n look at Scorpion in pity and understanding. He knew the pain of losing his own family and 'clan'. While they may be from different groups he still understood the pain of losing everything he had. He silently prayed for Scorpions family to be safe in the afterlife.

Raiden approaches the masked guard.

Raiden: "I know it is you, Kung Lao. The Shaolin monks chose Liu Kang to represent your order in this tournament."

Kung Lao: "I am Liu Kang's equal!"

Raiden: "That remains to be seen."

Kung Lao: "Watch and see."

Without any hesitation he walks into the arena, getting rid of his disguise as he does so.

Kung Lao: "I accept the challenge!"

Liu Kang: "Kung Lao? *To Y/n* Did you know about this?"

Y/n: "No. If I had, I would've locked him in his room."

Shang Tsung didn't look happy at this revelation. Kung Lao now in his Shaolin robes and razor bladed hat faces Scorpion.

Kung Lao: "Nevermind the Lin Kuei. Now you face a Shaolin."

He shows off by running two fingers across his razor-sharp hat and assumes a fighting stance.

Scorpion: "You will regret your impulsiveness."

SCORPION VS KUNG LAO

FIGHT!

Kung Lao starts off the fight with a kick aiming it at Scorpion's head, but he teleports behind Kung and punches him in the face instead. They both start throwing punches but both being quick to block aren't able to get a hit in.

Scorpion teleports behind him again and attempts to slash Kung with his blade but Kung parries it with his hat and launches a kick to Scorpion's chest getting some space between them. Taking the chance Kung throws his Razor Hat at Scorpion but he ducks under it, jumps over it when it comes back around and comes back into Kung's awaiting hand and puts it back on.

Scorpion teleports behind Kung and slashes him in the back causing him to grunt in pain. Taking the chance he starts summoning hellfire to burn Kung but he teleports behind Scorpion and unleashes a flurry of fast strikes and kicks.

Scorpion not wanting to fight Kung any longer and just wanting to get this fight over with stops holding back and teleports behind Kung and strikes him in the back of the head causing him to stagger forward. Scorpion takes this chance to teleport behind him and unleashes multiple strikes imbued with fire and finally launches a knee strike to the jaw of his opponent knocking him out.

SCORPION WINS!

Scorpion: "You are not yet a warrior."

Liu Kang: "Kung Lao!"

Liu Kang, Raiden and Y/n rush over to check on Kung Lao. Raiden is not happy and starts scolding him.

Raiden: "Listen when your elders speak! You could not win this fight."

He helps Liu bring Kung to his feet. Scorpion watches this with no emotion, then turns to face Shang Tsung.

Scorpion: "I have defeated the challenger, Shang Tsung. I demand Sub-Zero!"

Raiden receives another Vision, it starts off with Scorpion holding Sub-Zero's removed head along with his spinal cord, then it finishes with the head morphing into an undead Sub-Zero. It shows him becoming a Wraith.

Shang: "You will demand nothing! Nightwolf!"

The Motoka Warrior walks over to Scorpion and addresses him.

Nightwolf: "Your aggression is misplaced."

Scorpion: "What do you know of my past?"

Nightwolf: "You are not the only one whose people have been victimised. But I have found new purpose in serving the Spirits. I do not cling to the past."

Scorpion: "You no longer seek retribution? You dishonour your kind. I will honour the memory of my fallen."

Sorry guys/gals that this chapter wasn't as long but once I heard that peoples stories that havent been updated in a while was being deleted I decided to update this story so it doesn't get deleted. Don't worry, when I get the chance I'll update this chapter and give you the Scorpion VS Nightwolf fight and complete this chapter. Also sorry that Y/n didn't have a lot involved in this chapter but I didn't find a lot of ways to include him in it. But to be fair I'm trying to give him his own fights and everything without changing too much of the order of these fights. If you have any ideas on how I can involve Y/n more into the story please let me know.
